Chapter 339 A LOVING HUSBAND

Evelyn and her husband seemed to have all left Noah's mansion in anger. Evelyn was tired of begging her son, especially after his reaction this morning.
She would never forgive Noah if anything happens to her daughter. No matter what Beth did, her punishment is long overdue. She would handle Beth herself when she sees her, all she's asking is for Beth to be free.
When Evelyn arrived back at home, she was greeted by the most amazing news. Her daughter returned three days ago and Noah pretended like she hadn't. Nobody called to inform her about anything, but then she realized they had indeed tried to tell her a few times, but she was hellbent on taking care of her daughter in law.
Though now so lean like a malnourished animal. Beth looked so pale, with bruises all over her body. She could barely walk or talk and just laid in bed.
Evelyn had asked their doctor to come check up on her and she was relieved when the man said she would be fine. She just needs a few days of full rest and to eat healthy.
As Anna hurried into the kitchen, she was greeted by the statue of the man she loves the most in the whole wide world. Noah was standing by the counter in only his trousers barely hanging on his waist and an apron tied to his body.
He seemed to be engrossed in the dinner he was making.
"You're back?" His deep voice sounded but he didn't look her way.
"You asked me not to cook anymore, but here you are cooking yourself." She hugged him from behind her cheeks pressing against his back.
Noah chuckled softly at her words, his hands continuing to stir the pot on the stove. "I never said I wouldn't cook," he teased, glancing over his shoulder with a sly smile. "Besides, I wanted to surprise you."
Anna closed her eyes, breathing him in. Even after everything that had happened today—dealing with Ava and the company—coming home to Noah felt like stepping into another world. A safe, warm one.
"I think I'm the one who's supposed to be spoiling you tonight," she murmured, tightening her hug just a little.
"Well, it's hard to spoil someone who's always one step ahead," Noah replied with a soft laugh. "But you can still help. The pasta's almost ready, and the sauce needs a taste tester." There were no maids around, not even Lurch was in the mansion tonight.
Noah had given them early retirement to enjoy the night however they wanted and everyone retired to the maid quarters. It was times like this they love the most, this is the reason they had been happy when Noah found his wife.
Anna grinned, finally loosening her embrace as she slid around to face him. "Anything you make is going to be perfect." She has been practicing on how to be a good wife for a while now. Especially after she learned she was the cause of her child's death. She would do anything to make up for her mistake.
As she grabbed a spoon and dipped it into the sauce, she glanced up at Noah, catching the intensity in his gaze as he watched her. The look made her heart skip a beat, reminding her how much she loved this man. It was moments like this, these quiet, intimate evenings where it was just the two of them, that she cherished the most.
"Mm, it's amazing," Anna said after tasting the sauce, though she wasn't sure if it was the flavor or the fact that Noah had made it that made it taste so good. She smiled at him, her eyes sparkling with affection.
For a moment, everything felt perfect and Noah didn't want to ruin the mood with words about Grace. Bean had told him Kate and Nari have both shipped Grace and the General somewhere they didn't know about.
He didn't want Anna to feel sad, not after everything that had happened today. He had heard of everything that happened, the information had reached him in time, but he didn't bother because he knows his wife could handle it all.
Once the food was ready, Anna arranged the table while her hubby placed the dishes on the table. For tonight, she was not the pampered pregnant wife, she was the little wife ready to be spoilt by her husband. Noah never hesitate to spoil her with so much affection everytime.
They started eating together and once they were done, Noah carried his wife to the bedroom where they bath and laid in bed to sleep. Cuddled in her hubby's arms Anna finally saw the need to ask.
"When are we going to tell your parents I'm not pregnant Noah?" She asked looking up at him. She had wanted to ask about him releasing Beth, but she didn't want to upset him again. Noah was more than angry when asked about his sister. He looked hurt and betrayed instead and Anna understood.
She has experienced similar betrayal from her own family. When Kate had adopted Nari was when Anna felt the most betrayed but there was nothing she could do to change her mind.
She remembered her grandfather had disowned her instead which almost led to her first miscarriage. Anna felt a severe throbbing head at the rush of memory. She had remembered that night, she was only announced as the face of Eclipse.
That night was meant to be her happy night, but somehow her aunt had forced Nari to attend the red carpet event with her to steal the show. "Ahh." Anna sipped the air as he held the back of her head. What was happening to her? She's been recalling a lot of forgotten things lately.
"Are you alright?" She nodded. Maybe a little sleep would help.
