Chapter 316 MARRIAGE CEREMONY 1

1418words
The Shen's family mansion was bustling with guest moving from one part of the mansion to another as they maids arrangement for the Shen family daughters marriage.

"Janie!"

"Janjan!" Mia called for her step daughter as she walked through the halls in a flowing green dress that reached her legs. Her belly is so swollen now that she's unable to walk on her own.

"Don't you think you're screaming so loud?" Janie said from behind staring at her. After the accident, she had spent most of her days locked in her room or forced to go shopping with her Aunt. Janie barely socialized with anyone and would only speak when necessary.

The only days people saw her out are the days she goes out with her stepmother, or the days Chalamet force her out of the mansion. Janjan misses her old life, especially the time she spent with Anna.

They had her wedding planned. Everything was arranged. Anna promised to be here for her bridal shower. She promised to be her brides maid on the special day,to give her out to Chalamet while she threatened him to take good care of her best friend.

Janjan truly miss her friend, but she knows Anna probably doesn't know who she is anymore. She had lost her memory the day of the accident. That accident that changed time and history and stopped their friendship.

"Can you blame me?" Mia asked with a smile. "My step daughter is getting married tomorrow, I can't believe you want me to be silent about it. How much more selfish can you be?" She clicked her tongue staring at the girl before her.

"It's not a big deal." Janjan said rolling her eyes. She didn't know why parents valued marriage so much. To her, marriage is just a way of giving out your daughter. It's almost like they're eager to sell her away.

She wouldn't blame her father. He had bullied and ridiculed her for years because she wasn't yet married. That is why he didn't think twice before trying to give her out for marriage the very moment he saw Chalamet. It's a good thing she had fallen in love with the man rather than anyone else.

If she hadn't met Chalamet again for the second time when she did, she would have been given to maybe an old man or just anyone for marriage.

"Says who?" Mia asked. It's unfortunate Janjan's mother is not in the best state of health to arrange for her daughters marriage, but that's the reason she's her step mother right?

"You're the first and only daughter of your father Janie, your marriage is very important." Mia said.

"What do you need me for?" Janie asked changing the conversation. She was tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. She needed a little more time alone to think for herself.

"The Sui's are here. Kate is here to see you." Mia smiled. Janie didn't say anything else and just walked away. She didn't understand when her family got so close to the Sui's. Though they have been aquainted since the beginning, but they weren't as close as they are now. Which seemed rather strange.

Her father always warned her to stay away from Anna Sui and that she is bad influence. But right now he's the one forcing her to get close to them.

She hoped Nari or Kate didn't have a hand in Anna's accident and her family are trying to protect them. It could be the other way around. But why did they hide their family video tape if they had nothing to do with it?

"... You don't say..." Kate's voice was heard as Janie opened the door. She was in a beautiful green dress, the one Nari had gotten for her. Beside her was Nari and Ava. Janjan doesn't fancy seeing Kate as much as her parents no matter what because she has always so uptight around Anna since she met her.

"Janjan dear." Kate called the moment she saw the girl. She had a smile on her lips. She shouldn't be here, but her business with the Shen's family is the only reason she had arrived.

The Shen's family's daughter was getting married into a reputable family, while her daughter Nari is stuck with the Yong's. She felt so ashamed and terrible for that alone but as always, she would mask her sorrow and frustration with a smile.

"I bought you a gift for your special day, congratulations once again." Kate pushed the little box before her to the girl and Mia snatched the gift.

"This is really beautiful. We appreciate your kindness Kate." Mia beamed with joy, feeling grateful and excited. Kate has been nothing but kind to them since they lost everything they once had because of Noah. She was overly excited to notice the stern expression coming from the man on the couch, who hasn't smiled since Kate arrived.

Shen wasn't pleased with the little gifts Kate was giving them. He wanted something more than the gifts and pleasantries.

"Yes, she was supposed to do this anyway. I hope the gift is worth it Kate." Shen said and Kate's smile turned rigid. He was tired of receiving this little gifts from her when Noah has destroyed almost everything he owns in this life. It's almost like the more Kate helps them, the more Noah destroys them and Shen was scared of losing everything completely.

"Is that not enough?" Kate asked.

"You don't have to be so ungrateful father. Mrs Kate has been very generous to our family." Shen glared at his daughter.

"How many times have I told you not to get involved in adults conversation."

"Father, the Sui's have been very helpful to us since we lost everything. We should be at least grateful for that."

"Grateful for what?" Shen raised his voice as he glared at the girl. "Shut up if you have nothing reasonable to say. Our family have lost it's name. We have turned into beggers and you want me to be grateful for mere gifts?" He yelled at his daughter.

"But how is it their fault that we lost everything?" Janjan yelled back. Their lives have all not been the same since Anna's accident that day. Even if Mia tries to laugh and bring joy into the family, it wasn't enough. Her family is destroyed by Noah Declan. Her father has gotten more aggressive at everyone, he even hit pregnant Mia one time.

"That is why I said you should shut up." Shen yelled.

"Who's going to pay your mother's hospital bills if I don't speak?" Shen kept telling.

"You should be happy the Declan's decided to be generous with your dowry and that's the reason we have been surviving till now."

"But isn't that the reason I'm getting married to a Declan? To support the family?" Janjan yelled back. Her father's aggressiveness is becoming something else, and she's scared he might kill someone some day because of it.

"Marrying Chalamet can only do so little fool. It's not a big of a deal if you're not marrying Noah Declan. We both know that man will stop at nothing than destroying us all." He said.

"It's not like you're worth anything. You can't even fend for yourself." He said sternly.

Janjan couldn't hold it in anymore as tears streamed down her eyes. She has tried everything since a little girl to please her father but he never valued her because she isn't a man. With hurried steps, she started walking out of the room.

"You promised to force your neice to tell her husband to let us go, that is why I even agreed to your deal in the first place." Shen turned back to Kate.

"What deal mother?" Nari asked staring at them. What is happening? What are they talking about?

"And I did try to talk to her but you know how stubborn my neice is. She would never listen to me. She's still very much angry with all of you." Kate said. Rather than soothing, her words only angered Shen more than he clenched his hands into a fist.

"Angry with us? But we did nothing wrong." He said.

"Anna doesn't see it that way, she's angry at everyone that were around that day. She lost a child for crying out loud." Kate said in annoyance.

She was pissed herself. Shen had no right to discuss matters like this before everyone else.
