The diamond crown laid on a red pillow on the glass box just before the stage. Every girl stared at the crown nervously. Tonight will determine who the best model in the world truly is for the next five years. Who the stand out model is and who isn't.
This crown would select a special model from the rest of them and make her stand out among the rest. The would be not only the face of her country, but the face of the modelling world and industry. The face of everything beauty.
Each girl held the hands of the other as they stood there staring at the crown on the stage.
"Welcome everyone to the last show of the night." Laura started and everyone cheered as she spoke.
"Tonight, we would crown the next diamond of the season. Tonight one out of the five girls will leave with the crown."
"Anna!"
"Anna!"
"Anna!"
"Anna!"
The crowd started chanting Anna's name, she is indeed the best in the competition and everyone has voted for her to win.
"We'll not let the judges decide who will be crowned the next diamond." Laura said as she stepped aside. The four judges on the stage, Including Channel all discussed amongst themselves as they stared at all five girls. They already had the vote from the poll but they all just wanted to pretend to keep everyone at the top of their toes.
The crowd started chanting again, this time if was for both Anna and Nari as they screamed their name.
Once the judges were done, they handed the papers over to Laura who read through them with an indifferent expression. Laura walked back to the stage staring at Nari and the girl almost jumped for joy at the signal, but she held herself. She wouldn't jumb just yet, not now. She had to wait a little to confirm everything first.
Nari stared at Mack and he nodded. She stared at Kate who looked between Mack and her and she nodded too. She stared at Chan who smiled at her. That is all of the confirmation she needed. She's going to be crowned the next diamond. This is it, she's worked so hard today and she changed her fate.
She was more than proud of herself. She couldn't wait to rob her victory on the faces of everyone who thought she couldn't do it. She would make sure Anna never hear the end of it.
"With me here are the final results from the voting conducted." Laura began.
"I want you all to know this diamond award is and will always be a reliable and none biased award show. Every winner truly deserves her spot. It doesn't matter if she has the smallest support system, or following. Each and every lady standing before you all today is a diamond with or without the crown." Laura said.
"I shall be calling from the second runner up to the winner." Laura said tensing the girls even more.
"The second runner up goes to... Marilyn!" Laura announced shocking the girls as but they still clapped for the girl called Marilyn. Channel frowned at the results, but she was still okay, as long as Kate's daughter wears the crown. She hadn't put my much attention on her daughter because of Nari but it was all worth it.
Nari will be crowned the next diamond and it's surprisingly all the judges agreed with it immediately.
A silver crown was placed Marilyn's head, no one knew she had this much support since she hardly speaks or communicate with anyone. Everyone cheered for her as she stood by the right side of the three high stages meant for the three winners of the night.
But while everyone cheered, Ava wasn't really impressed by the result, she wanted to be at least third place tonight even if she's not crowned the next diamond. She would have looked good standing next to Nari.
Nari stared at Anna as they were about to call the second runner up. If Anna is called, it means she would have to wear her the crown, oh she couldn't wait for such victory. She couldn't wait to put Anna back in her place.
"The second runner up for tonight is..." Everyone watched Laura closely, waiting for her to call. They all know it would be between Anna and Nari, but which would win was what they had no idea about.
But Kate and Chan weren't moved by Laura's little stunt as they already knew the winner. Their Nari is going to come back home with the crown.
"Nariiiii!" Laura called and Nari who had been smiling till this moment stopped smiling as she stared at Laura in disbelief. She shook her head immediately. This must be a joke, the crown is hers. Chan and Kate who were in the audience were also shocked too. They had voted, she was sure all the judges voted too. Or did they decieve her?
"This must be a joke, check that stupid paper of yours very well. It's obviously a mistake, I can't lose, I'm the winner." Nari said almost crying. She can't lose to Anna.
"Miss Nari please calm down. The votes are correct, we cannot make mistake here." Laura said.
"That's a lie, you think I don't know what you all are doing. We already know the show is a scam. You guys are not legit." Kate ran to her daughter and held her. They thought they rigged the show, but they didn't. They only spent money for nothing.
"Baby that's enough." Kate held Nari, the embarrassment was just too much for them. How could this be happening?
"Mother." Nari hugged Kate as she was led out of the stage. Laura turned back to the audience.
"Well it seems one of our major contestants wouldn't be able to collect her award tonight. Is there anyone to fit in for her?" Laura asked and Chan rose to stand in Nari's position. She's the only available person after Kate to hold Nari's spot.
"Alright let's go over to the winner of the night." Laura said going through the paper in her hands.
"The winner and next diamond is... Anna Suiiiii." The crowd erupted as everyone screamed for Anna.
