Chapter 249 QUIZ 1
1040words
The public really hate her for everything she did to Anna. Whoever has rereleased that news wanted to destroy her and the person seems to be succeeding. People now accused her of being obsessed with Anna especially after the airport girls confessions.
To the public, Nari is a narcissist and a freak. They accuse her of trying to steal Anna's life and everything she owns because of how obsessed she is with Anna.
Everyone pitied Anna instead and apologized again for ever doubting her or for insulting and mocking her a few days ago. They blamed Nari for being the reason Anna was kicked out of the hospital a few days ago and laid curses on her and her sponsors.
Nari had thought that maybe by the end of today the news would have reduced but it seems to be burning hotter by every hour. The whole world was against her.
"Are you ready for your first question?" Lacey asked and Nari nodded. What she was going through was not even half of what Anna has gone through, yet she was still so strong. Nari is just facing her karma. Anna thought. She had heard the boo sounds from the backstage.
She turned around in search for Lola who had left earlier but her manager was yet to return. Anna couldn't begin to think of where Lola had gone to.
"What inspired you to come for the diamond award Nari?" Nari couldn't think at the moment. Her head was all over the place as she thought of the answer. She didn't know what to say. She could have sworn she has been practicing this all morning.
"I... I've." Nari bent her head bitting her lower lips and Lacey who was watching the girl suddenly frowned. She wasn't the patient type.
"L... Let's go over to the next question." Chan quickly said trying to cover the girl.
"If she cannot answer the first question, what makes you think she can answer the next. You can't just wake up to be the diamond, something made you do it." Lacey challenged but Nari didn't raise her head. Her mind was clouded around the fact that someone was trying to destroy her.
It was clouded on the fact that her career was over. The career she's worked so hard to win. She sniffled, pushing the tears back in. She couldn't afford to lose everything she's worked so hard for, not now, not ever. She promised to find out who's doing this and destroy the person.
Nari wanted to walk away, and then a thought came to her. She was here to win. If she loses this diamond crown, then her life will truly be over.
"Call me selfish all you want, but I came here for me. Being the next diamond is something I've aspired to be since I became a model, it's a privilege that I'm here now and I will not disappoint myself." Nari said.
"Being truthful aren't we?" Lacey asked to see the girl nod. She was about to ask the next question when Chan cut in, "That's beautiful." Chan said. It was her turn to ask, she wanted to cut in so that she could ask the questions Nari had rehearsed on. That has been her initial plan all along.
"D..."
"How do you winning this award make a difference in your country. I know you're not from Crownsville, so how to you make that difference especially since your people now hate you?" Nari's lips twitched as she stared at Lacey blandly.
This are not the questions she had rehearsed for. She shifted her gaze to Chan who had a worried expression. She was about to ask Nari the next question when Lacey took over. Who even invited this woman here tonight.
She has just ruined their plans and everything they've worked so hard for.
Nari was good at almost everything except school work. She hated books, that's pretty much the reason she became a model. (Not all models are dumb:)
"I... I don't know." Nari said honestly and murmurs began amongst the audience. For a moment, everyone was shocked Nari isn't as bright as they all thought she was. She didn't know the answer to that question, it was way too complicated for her.
"You can leave us now miss Nari." Lacey said without waiting for her to think further. So far none of the girls seemed to have impressed her enough. All of these questions are questions that shouldn't be hard to respond to.
Laura didn't waste anytime to call the next girl and Ava rushed to take Anna's place too. She knew she had to do everything to gain Anna's trust so that she could get what she wants, Noah Declan. All she needs is a moment with the man to make him fall in love with her.
There's no way he would still want to be with Anna once he sees her.
As Ava walked into the hall, the crowd cheered for her. She had seen Nari's solemn face and turned slightly nervous herself.
"Ava Dubuque?" Lacey called. She recognized the girl because she has been one of the people that applied into her modelling institute back then but what rejected because she didn't have the charisma and talent. She's shocked herself to see her here.
As everyone knows, Lacey likes to work with talents and hates mediocre.
"That's me." Ava said with a shrug and everyone laughed.
"Are you ready to take your questions?" Lacey asked and Ava nodded. She couldn't help but notice the slight frown on her mother's face. She could tell the woman was barely trying to control her temper and she wondered what had happened.
"For this quiz each diamond is to answer at least three questions and so far your friends have yet to answer up to two. Do you think you can answer them?" Lacey asked and Ava glanced back at her mother again.
