Mack had been the only one one who didn't discriminate her. And even if he had his terms back then, he protected her from the world.
"Let's not focus on what the public has to say about me. Since when did we even care?" Anna picked her purse from the table.
"We wouldn't have cared if it isn't serious." Lola said hurriedly. She has seen the news and it was terrible. It would have been better if the award show was in the country, but it wasn't. It was abroad since other models around the world would be partaking in the competition and then award show this year.
Lola knew Nari had purposely posted that video so that Anna will not gain support from the general public and she would win the award.
"What do you mean?" Anna asked staring at her manager. She hadn't been online because she didn't want to see all the nasty comments about her.
"There's an online campaign about you. Your supposed cousin has accused you of taking her lead role because of your connections. She said you've been trying to destroy her since your return and will not rest until you take her down." Lola briefed Anna and she sighed.
She always knew Nari would go low, but she never thought she would go so low to try to defame her. Nari and her paid fans were at it again. They are using the public to try to shame her again, but she would not let it happen this time.
"I fear they may try to attack you at the airport before we leave." Since Anna was sealing her deal with Linco, they have gifted her an all paid trip to any country of her choice. Anna had lived the easy life Noah provided for her that she had forgotten how simple yet expensive, modelling lifestyle was.
"They wouldn't dare." She said. If she used Noah's jet it would raise suspicion and she didn't want that attention to herself.
Anna and Lola left the room in time to join Noah and her aunt Grace from breakfast. Lola has not told her about Noah closing down the hospital that with immediate effect and shaking the Mongrel's empire.
Even if Martha had married the stupid son of the Mongrel's family, they are still a very powerful family. One of the highest ranking family after the Declan's and Noah had just challenged them. He had been so angry last night when Paul showed him the video of his wife being humiliated by the orders of that woman.
He had shaken the entire Mongrel's empire yesterday with one action and had threatened to do more. No one dares mess with his wife. No one.
"Aunt Grace." Anna greeted her aunt who seemed a bit better than yesterday.
"Noah said you're leaving the country?" Grace turned to her neice who nodded. If she wasn't nominated for the award show she wouldn't bother flying out. Plus Noah's birthday is the last day of the show, she hasn't event thought of a gift for him.
Grace had been a little bit elated since Noah told her about his plan and the undertaking he had asked anyone taking care of the general to sign. But he never told them to embarrass his wife though, he made it clear to Fletcher what he wanted and they went ahead to add more drama to his soap opera.
"I'll be there to cheer you on my baby." Grace said for Anna to nod.
"I'll make you both proud." Anna stated. "You will." Noah responded.
"I'll send two guards with you, it should be enough right?" Anna nodded. The two guards will be enough to stop the planned attack Lola had talked about if it ever was true. But why would Nari even arrange for that, to humiliate her more?
She would get her revenge soon, it's only a matter of time before she does.
Once Anna was done eating, she was escorted out of the mansion by Noah who hadn't let her hands go, and her Aunt who got more happy with every minute that passed. But even with her smiles, Anna could see a certain sadness on her face.
She wished she would be there to comfort her Aunt, but this was an important event. It would do a lot for her career. Who doesn't want to be the diamond of the city? Especially since it's a once in five years award.
Every winner gets to hold the crown for five years before passing it down to another.
"Bye." Anna waved at them and was about to step into the car when her hubby pulled her back. "Don't you think you're forgetting something?" Noah asked to see her blush. She knew what he was talking about but there are people around, watching them, especially her aunt whose smile just broadened.

Anna moved closer to him and leaned in to press her lips on his chin. "Bye." She whispered next to his ear and rushed into the car. As she settled in, she covered her face with her palm screaming inwardly.
She would never get used to this. Noah is too much for her.
Lola was about to step in but was stopped by someone and in the next second, Noah got into the car and closed the door. Her eyes went wide as she stared at him.
"Noah."
"That was not a good goodbye kiss. I will not be seeing you in three whole days, how did you want me to live?" Her mouth turned wide open as she stared at Noah in disbelief.
He pulled her to seat on his laps and placed her hands around his neck. "N... Noah." Anna's heart kept beating so loud like it wanted to pull out of her chest. No matter how many times she would do this with Noah, she would always feel the same.
