He hadn't buttoned the suit tonight, leaving a few buttons of his shirt undone, which revealed a gold necklace that complemented his fair skin perfectly. His hair was neatly combed to the side, with a few strands artfully falling on his face. Noah looked breathtaking in his outfit.
In most families, the women are usually the last to get dressed, but in this family, Noah would rather watch his wife get dressed first before putting on his own clothes. Anna blinked many times to free herself from his spell. She couldn't forget she was still upset with him and will not say a word to him till her family was is.
When Noah reached them, he turned to Anna. "Let's go," he said to his wife, extending his arm. Anna rose with her aunt, and they both walked out of the mansion without a word to Noah, who stood there, staring at them. He smiled.
This stubborn woman. Did she really think he cared about her little drama? He wasn't mad at her because he knew she had lost her memory. Though Anna didn't want to hurt her family, with everything they'd done, she would eventually want them out of her life.
As they walked away, Aunt Grace broke the silence. "Don't you think you're too harsh on him?" Anna glared at her aunt. She had no idea why the woman loved Noah so much; he wasn't even a part of their family. She was.
"He tried to harm our family aunty, I don't think I'm harsh." Anna said walking ahead of her. Grace was quite aware of everything both and father and Kate has done to her neice but she couldn't tell Anna. She didn't want her neice to keep hating them. Though she doubts they will ever change their minds against her.
The general hated the Declan's with passion, even if he tries to change his mind one day, his ego and pride will never let him. He cared more about his reputation than about the right thing to do.
As they approached the sleek black limo parked in front of the mansion, both women slipped inside without a word. Moments later, Noah joined them, settling into the seat opposite Anna.
Finally sitting in the car, Noah reached into a compartment and pulled out three masks. He handed them to Anna, his expression serious. "It's a masquerade party. My mother invited a few friends and business associates. The media will be there because of my sister, and I don't want anyone to know the party is for you yet," he explained.
Anna took the masks, passing the green one to her aunt while holding onto the black one for herself. She couldn't help but feel a bit nervous, wondering what the party would be like. She had attended a few extravagant events in the past, but this would be her first time at a high-society gathering since losing her memory. Maybe she had been to such events while married to Noah, but she couldn't recall a thing, making this feel like a first time all over again.
Grace put on her mask a smile hanging on her beautiful neice. She had attended a few parties like this ones, but in her time, young girls attending parties were mostly to find husbands. They would dress in the best attire while they made their debut and the young men would dance and chat with them all night.
Many girls go back home with guaranteed marriages while others like herself and Kate would go back home partying their father would not chase the men away. They would hope each man they met would be enough for their father, but no matter the status of the men, the general always rejected their proposal.
He said they weren't fit for his daughters. After a while, both Grace and Kate stopped receiving gifts from men because they couldn't wait for them. Many got married to other woman and started their families, those men mocked them daily for still being single, especially after their brutal rejection.
It is the reason they stopped attending parties. The general regretted what he had done to his daughters. He loved them so much that he was scared of losing them only to end up ruining their lives completely. That is why he had forced Anna to find a husband when she be ame if age. He didn't want the same fate for his granddaughter.
Grace removed her mask and stared at it, lost in her thoughts. Her brother thought died at a very young age had begged their father back then.
She raised her head to look at her neice who was busy with her phone. Anna looked just like her mother, in beauty and at heart. She may have her father's stubbornness and heartlessness most times, but she was a good person.
The limo accelerated quietly through the streets and only stopped when they arrived before a deck. The chauffeur stepped out of the car and opened the door for his boss and family and they all stepped down one after another. Anna's eyes went wide at the gigantic looking hatch from a distance.
When Evelyn talked about throwing a small party for Anna, Noah hadn't expected it to be a yatch party but here they are. No wonder they said they would invite the media, because his father wanted to lauch his knew yatch business and needed this for publicity. He would pay greatly for using his wife. Noah thought clicking his tongue.
He brought out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it with a lighter before placing it on his lips and taking a long drag. "He'll take you two in, I'll join you soon." Noah said to his wife who stared back at him anxiously.
Anna had been really nervous from the car to this moment. Though she has met his family before, she was still very anxious about meeting them again.
