Large crystal chandeliers hung from the ceiling, casting shimmering reflections across the polished marble floor below. The walls were adorned with luxurious drapes in deep shades of burgundy and gold, adding a touch of opulence to the ambiance.
Plush velvet sofas and armchairs were arranged in intimate clusters around low round tables, providing guests with comfortable seating areas to mingle and chat. The tables were adorned with elaborate floral arrangements.
At the center of the room stood a grand stage, where a live band played music that filled the air with infectious energy. The dance floor, surrounded by twinkling fairy lights, beckoned guests to let loose and dance the night away.
The guest list was a who's who of the entertainment industry, with top models from around the world mingling with A-list actors and actresses. Paparazzi lined the perimeter of the room, their cameras flashing as they captured the glamorous moments unfolding before them.
All cellphones were being bagged as no one was allowed to take pictures of anyone. The guests in the building were all asked to sign NDAs by Noah himself the moment they stepped in, ensuring that any words whispered remained within the confines of the building. However, Noah had asked for the NDAs mostly because of his family, to keep their private matters from becoming public gossip.
As a man no one knew, Noah kept his golden mask on his face as he conversed with a few people. He hadn't really spoken to his wife in here so as not to attract the gazes of the nosey people around.
People could start gossip, and that gossip could lead to a tremendous news for the public.
Under the soft, illuminating light, Anna stood in another beautiful blue mini dress, radiating elegance and charm. Just like the other two dresses she had worn earlier, this one complemented her perfectly, earning her praises from the people around her.
Anna, reveling in the moment, took the opportunity to mingle and talk to the other guests. She had seen her favorite celebrities from movie shows all congratulating her, and the night truly felt like her moment to shine. Her name flew from one side of the building to another, carried on waves of admiration and excitement.
"Anna Sui, am I right?" A man approached her from where she sat. He looked a bit younger than her grandfather but older than Noah's father, placing him somewhere between the ages of 55 and 60.
"Yes," Anna responded with a soft smile.
"I'm George Borne, the director of Caliper movie production. I'm the one in charge of the new movie you would be featured in," he introduced himself.
"Wow, it's so nice to meet you," Anna said, standing to shake his hand. Her kind gesture only attracted the eyes of the jealous daredevil talking to someone else. His piercing gaze made her instantly weak in the knees. She quickly diverted her gaze from him.
Though she now had her back facing him, she could still feel her skin burn from his look.
"Your boss, Noah Declan, has said a lot about you," George continued, still holding her hand. His gentle squeeze made Anna feel a certain way. At this moment, she was thankful Noah had insisted on her wearing gloves, even though she had initially rejected the idea because of her nails.
"It's nice to see you, sir," Anna said politely, struggling to get her hands off his, and finally, he let her go. She stepped back a little creating a little space between them as she stared back at Noah hoping he would notice but his gaze was now fixed on the man he was talking with.
She knew he was doing it on purpose. If she stared at Noah too much it would make people suspect something.
George quickly closed the space between them, but not too close for their body to meet. George knew they were in public, if only he good get this woman alone with him. He could already imagine the things he could do to her.
"You know, everything comes with a price, dear," George said gently.
"What do you mean?" Anna asked, her brows furrowing in confusion.
"Even if your boss Noah has asked me to give you a role, I still need a little something from you," George replied cryptically.
Anna's frown deepened at his words. "What are you talking about?" she asked, her voice more firm than usual.
George leaned in closer, his gaze intense as he whispered in Anna's ear, "I need your cooperation on a personal matter unrelated to the film. Let's just say it's a favor for a friend."
Anna's heart raced as she pulled away, her mind racing with alarm. She had heard enough to know that George's request was anything but innocent. "I'm sorry, Mr. Borne, but I don't think I can help you with that," she said firmly.
George frowned, if there was anything he lacked it was patient. "Think about it, Anna. You wouldn't want to disappoint your boss, would you?" he said, his tone dripping with subtle threat.
"I'm not interested in any of that sir." Anna said politely, but the man before her didn't look like he understood anything she had just said.
"Please, don't act like you're not sleeping with that little boy, that's how you all get here anyway. I promise to treat you better than h..." The flower smack on his head attracted the gaze of everyone in the room as gasp flew from one part of the room to another.
A few people rose to their feet shocked at the sight before them. Anna Sui being the first woman that had dared put George Borne in his place.
No one dares challenge or humiliate George, it means you want your career to be over.
Noah chuckled softly from where he sat, he had told his wife to so whatever she wanted, he didn't know she would do it this fast. She hadn't just disrespected anyone, but one of the industry's head.
George Borne was a known force in the industry, and he could crush Anna's career with just one word.
Suddenly, the room fell silent as George's voice boomed across the hall. "You rascal!" he yelled, glaring at Anna. No one had ever been this bold to humiliate him so much. How dare she?
He was furious, raving mad, his anger palpable as he directed his venomous gaze at Anna. "Watch out, little girl. Count your days in this industry. I promise you, Anna Sui, I will destroy you," George announced before storming away.
