"Who are you?" Dapo managed to ask, his voice trembling slightly.
The man smiled, showing a grin that felt cold and like a predator. "Let's just say, I am a friend of your friend," he said with a voice low and scary.
Eki and Dapo looked at each other one more time, their faces displaying confusion and fear. They could not understand who this man was referring to when he spoke.
"What do you want?" Eki asked, her voice steady despite the terror she felt.
The man entered the apartment, his eyes moving all around. He stopped when he saw the device they had found. A flicker of recognition crossed his face.
"So, you find it," he says with a voice that feels an odd mix of respect and anger.
Eki and Dapo exchanged a worried look. They did not understand how this person knew about the device.
"We don't know what you're talking about," Dapo said, trying to sound confident.
The man laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "Don't play dumb with me," he replied. "I know exactly what you know."
He gazed at his two colleagues standing outside. "Fetch it in," he instructed them.
Two men come into the apartment, carrying a big metal box. They put it on the table and one of them opens it to show complicated machines inside.
"This thing you searched for," the man spoke with pride in his voice. "Now, the time has come to give it back."
Eki and Dapo exchanged a terrified glance. This was a trap. They had fallen right into it.
The man turned to his associates. "Take them," he ordered.
The two men went closer to Eki and Dapo, their hands reaching for weapons. Eki and Dapo realise they have to fight now, but there are more enemies, and the enemies' guns are better ones.
As the men approach, Eki notices a vase on the table. Quickly, she grabs it and throws it towards one of them. The vase shattered, and the man stumbled backwards.
In all the confusion, Dapo got loose from the other man's grip. He ran to the window, looking for a way to get away. Eki followed, her heart pounding in her chest.
They reached the window and looked outside. The street below was empty, but they knew staying here was not possible. They had to find a way to escape.
Eki and Dapo exchanged looks of fear when they saw two men coming in through the window. The exit was blocked, so now they were trapped inside the tiny apartment with their enemies.
'We have to fight our way out," Dapo said, his voice filled with determination.
Eki nodded, her heart pounding in her chest. They had no other choice. They had to fight for their lives.
When the two men come inside the apartment, Eki and Dapo run at them immediately. Soon, everything becomes very chaotic with punches and kicks going in all directions. Furniture was overturned, and the apartment was transformed into a battleground.
Eki grabs a weapon from one of the men. She takes a gun that drops on the ground, and now she feels much more strong in spirit. With adrenaline pumping in her veins, she began to fight back with much power. On the other side, Dapo was struggling because his opponent was bigger and stronger than him.
The fight was very strong, and the apartment got messy quickly. Glass shattered into many pieces, and furniture got pushed everywhere. Eki and Dapo found themselves in very desperate times, more than they ever thought possible. They fought intensely for their lives, making sure not to give up without a tough fight.
Finally, with a sudden rush of strength, Eki managed to overcome her enemy. She grabbed his weapon and bound him tightly, feeling her heart pounding quickly in her chest. Dapo is still fighting with his rival, but he looks like he's starting to win.
When it seemed they might finally defeat their attackers, the front door abruptly opened very fast. A group of men with weapons hurried into the apartment, pointing their guns and ready to shoot. Eki and Dapo froze, their hearts sinking. They were outnumbered and outgunned.
The leader of the group, who visited them earlier, stepped into the room. He had a cold and unfriendly smile on his face. "It's over," he said. "You can't escape."
Suddenly, a loud bang comes from outside the apartment. The men holding guns stop moving and quickly turn their heads towards the noise. A moment later, the sound of breaking glass filled the air.
Eki and Dapo exchanged a hopeful look. Could this be their chance to escape? They moved slowly to the window, hearts beating quickly. When they looked outside, someone was standing on the street below with a face hidden in darkness.
The person grabbed a device, and all of a sudden there was a very bright light. The whole building started to tremble. Eki and Dapo felt very scared because they understood what was going on.
