Chapter 65: Dreams and Omens

1267words
Eki found herself inside a storm made of dreams, very powerful and disturbing. The dream world she knew before had changed into an unreal place filled with characters from Yoruba mythology. One time, Orunmila, who people know as the oracle, came. That night, his eyes had a light of deep wisdom. Another night, it was Oshun, the river goddess, her laughter carrying a haunting echo.

These experiences made her very puzzled, with many questions in her mind that she could not solve. The dreams were more than images; they seemed like messages written in a hidden code from a world too difficult to understand.

Dapo, noticing her discomfort, attempted to comfort her. "Perhaps it is just stress," he said with worry in his tone.

Eki smiled, but it was not a true smile. "I also expect so," she said with her mouth, but in her mind, she was somewhere else. The dreams were very vivid, almost like real life, so they couldn't be simply seen as signs of stress.

She begins writing in a dream journal, trying hard to make sense of the chaos inside her mind. All the symbols and pictures – seem linked like parts of one large puzzle.

One night, dreams make everything different for her. She suddenly stands by the edge of an ocean with no end in sight. A storm was almost starting, and waves smashed the shore with so much power that she became very scared. After a while, she noticed something - a figure, a lady standing in the middle of all this mess. The storm was covering her face yet those eyes had a strangely recognizable look.

Eki felt a sudden surprise, her heart racing quickly in her chest. The dream seemed very strong and clear; it was like she recalled something that truly happened. She felt a chilling fear come upon her. Who was this woman? What did she want?

She used all day to study Yoruba mythology, hoping to understand it better. The woman she saw in her dream looked a little like Oya, the goddess of storms and rivers. But something changed in her; now she had a darkness that suggested something more sinister.

As days turned into weeks, Eki started to spend more time alone. The dreams were draining her energy, causing her to feel both tired and confused. Dapo felt concerned, but he knew she needed some time by herself to make sense of everything happening around her.

One evening, when she stayed alone in her apartment, suddenly a surge of energy came over her. She felt connected to something much bigger - the power was frightening but also exciting at the same time.

She closed her eyes, thinking about the woman from her dream. She took a deep breath and softly whispered to her, like speaking in a gentle murmur.

"I am here," a voice answered, but it did not come from her mouth. Instead, it came from deep within her soul.

Eki's eyes became very big suddenly, with fear and excitement mixing at the same time. She understood something important now, but what did she figure out?

The voice spoke, "I am Adetutu, the artist. I have been watching you, Eki." You are the one who can end this curse."

It was both fear and excitement together. Adetutu, the spirit she used to see in her dreams, is alive - maybe not with a body but definitely in a ghost form. She has picked Eki to be her body.

Eki feels a strong sense of responsibility. She is not just an architect now; she also became a protector, someone who cares for and looks after history from many centuries ago.

The road in front was very dangerous, but Eki was prepared. She had met difficulties before and she would meet this one also with bravery and strong will.

In the end, she was not alone. She had Dapo, who was her life partner and teammate in this unique journey. She also had Adetutu, the spirit who guided her from across.

Adetutu's confession felt very burdensome for Eki as if she was wearing a heavy cloak. Now, she understood that her role wasn't only being an architect or someone protecting culture; instead, she became something more—a bearer and guide for a spirit wanting to be free from guilt. The possible consequences were immense.

Dapo, feeling her unease, gave her a soothing hug. "What did?" he inquired with worry in his voice.

Eki moved backwards, her eyes showing fear and strong will. "I talked to her, Dapo." Adetutu. She's the spirit."

Dapo's eyes widened in disbelief. "You're serious?"

Eki agreed, her voice soft like a gentle whisper. "She wants me to help break the curse."

The situation felt like everything in their world had flipped over. The artist Adetutu, who got caught by an evil force, now needed Eki to rescue her. The burden of duty on them was heavy.

Days went by in a mix of studying, deep thoughts, and self-reflection. Eki spent time learning about Yoruba mythology to find answers or any wisdom that might help her understand Adetutu's situation more clearly. The more she discovered, the more intricate this enigma appeared to be.

The Olumide family, it looked like, were not only wealthy landowners but also did some kind of dark magic. They used their power to control spirits and make them do what they wanted. Adetutu was the family's most precious jewel - her unique ability to talk with and control these spirits made others feel both envy and fear.

However, a problem occurs. Adetutu does not want to follow instructions and make her captors very upset - now she is stuck in this life, her soul tied to the material world.

Eki felt very close to Adetutu. She understood the pain of the artist and wanted so much to release her soul from the curse that had held it for a long time.

But the road has many dangers. The Olumide family still holds their power; they will do anything to guard their private matters. Eki and Dapo were aware that people observed them, and all actions were under surveillance.

One day while meditating, Eki saw Adetutu again. This time was different; the spirit's words were very clear and deep. She talked about a ritual, one that could maybe end this curse. It required something unique, an object from Adetutu's period.

The thing was hidden, Adetutu said, in a place with much power. This spot is where the earth and sky come together, and also where the living world meets the spirit world.

Eki's heart was beating very fast, full of both joy and worry. This thing was the main answer to everything—the last part he needed to solve the puzzle. But also a dangerous quest.

She shared with Dapo what she had learned, and his eyes shone with hope and excitement. They were near something very unique, a moment that could change everything in their lives.

But they also knew this was a game with very high risks. The Olumide family would not give up their power so easily; they prepared for all possible outcomes, even those nobody could think of.

At the beginning of the new journey, they felt fear and excitement together. They were ready to start an adventure in an unknown land, a test that would measure their bravery, love, and hearts.

The future was uncertain, bringing both hope and anxiety. But one thing was clear - they had to keep going for Adetutu, for themselves, and for the generations who would come after them.
