I snorted and turned away.
He grabbed my arm again, stopping me.
"Where are you staying?"
A chill ran down my spine. I mumbled something noncommittal, but Joel pressed harder.
"Just now—who were you with in there?"
I froze, goosebumps prickling across my skin.
In desperation, I spotted some passing tourists and shouted:
"Help! This man is harassing me!"
While Joel was distracted by the sudden attention, I broke free and ran.
I called Jack as I fled.
Within seconds, he appeared around the corner.
"You okay, sis?"
His face was tight with concern. I threw myself into his arms, shaking my head.
We couldn't stay on the island any longer.
As for my parents' home, even though I'd explained everything...
"Jack, I—"
Before I could finish, he seemed to read my mind.
"Let's go back together, sis.
I promise the journey won't be boring."
I smiled and nodded decisively.
The journey flew by. Jack fed me snacks and regaled me with juicy gossip about the rich and famous.
