I snorted and turned away.

He grabbed my arm again, stopping me.

"Where are you staying?"

A chill ran down my spine. I mumbled something noncommittal, but Joel pressed harder.

"Just now—who were you with in there?"

I froze, goosebumps prickling across my skin.

I called Jack as I fled.

Within seconds, he appeared around the corner.

His face was tight with concern. I threw myself into his arms, shaking my head.

"Let's go back together, sis.

I promise the journey won't be boring."

I smiled and nodded decisively.

The journey flew by. Jack fed me snacks and regaled me with juicy gossip about the rich and famous.
