Later, when someone asked me why I became Kael's Mate.

I thought about it for a moment:

"Probably fate's twisted sense of humor."

"I just wanted his training spot. He ended up stealing my heart instead."

Kael, overhearing this, collapsed on the couch laughing:

"What fate? I waited forever for you to walk right into my trap."

"How long did you wait?"

"Since I first saw you." Kael flopped over, resting his head in my lap. "At that Alliance meeting. You were sitting alone in the corner."

"I asked someone nearby, 'Who is that?'"

"They said, 'Grey Pack's new Omega. Elara.'"

"From that moment, I couldn't stop wondering..." He nuzzled my hand affectionately. "How do I get this beautiful Omega to notice me?"

I smiled, running my fingers through his hair: "So you were deliberately rude to me?"

"That's called playing hard to get." Kael defended himself. "Wolf hunting strategy—chase first, pounce later."

"So I'm prey now?"

"Absolutely." Kael smirked mischievously. "My perfect little prey. Caught you fair and square. You're mine forever now."

I poked his forehead: "Who are you calling prey!"

Kael laughed, caught my hand, and laced our fingers together:

"Okay, okay, not prey."

"You're my Mate."

"Forever."

Outside our window, magnolia petals danced on the spring breeze.

The air was warm and sweet.

My Alpha and I, blissfully wrapped up in each other's arms.

This spring was absolutely perfect.
