Chapter 20

After officially becoming Kael's Mate, his jealous side emerged with a vengeance.

"Why are you and Asher both from Edinburgh?"

"...How is that something I could control?"

"Why did you challenge him before me?"

"Because he had the prime spot!"

"So my training spot wasn't good enough for you?"

I finally snapped: "Kael! Can you please stop being so ridiculous?!"

Kael immediately deflated, looking like a scolded puppy:

"I'm not being petty. I just need reassurance that you actually chose me..."

"I've told you a thousand times already!"

"Then tell me what you like about me." Kael was completely serious.

I met those expectant wolf eyes and sighed:

"I like your eyes. Especially when they turn gold."

Kael's cheeks flushed.

"I like your Alpha presence. It's powerful but makes me feel protected."

His blush deepened.

"I like how you act all tough but you're actually a softie inside."

"I like how your words can be gruff but your actions are always gentle."

"I like you..." I stood on tiptoe and leaned close. "I just like you, you ridiculous Alpha."

Kael turned completely crimson. The blush spread down his neck.

"You..." he stammered. "Say that again."

"No way." I smiled teasingly. "It loses its impact if I say it too often."

"Elara Grey!" Kael, both embarrassed and delighted, tackled me onto the couch and started tickling me mercilessly.

I laughed and squirmed away. He pursued.

One Omega and her Alpha playfully wrestled around the apartment.

Moonlight streamed through the window, bathing our tangled forms in silver light.

This winter felt especially warm.
