I figured out the auto-booking software and managed to snag decent spots each day.
No sign of either Kael or Asher.
I relaxed.
Until the third night—
I left the training center under a pitch-black sky.
I pedaled my beat-up bike toward the dorms, the cold wind biting at my exposed neck.
Passing Hyde Park, I eyed that forest trail—a shortcut that would save me ten minutes.
I hesitated for three seconds. Then turned in.
The trail was flanked by towering oaks, moonlight filtering through the leaves in eerie patterns.
Halfway through, I suddenly sensed—
Alpha scent.
Two of them. Left and right. Closing in.
I squeezed the brakes so hard my knuckles turned white. My heart raced.
The next second, two figures emerged from behind the trees.
One silver-haired with silver eyes. One black-haired with gold eyes.
Asher and Kael.
Under the moonlight, both pairs of wolf eyes locked onto me simultaneously.
My hands shook so badly I lost my grip on the handlebars.
Crash. I went down, bike and all.
"Elara?" Kael's voice came from the shadows.
"Can't even stay on a bike?" Asher approached as well.
I scrambled to my feet, not even bothering to check for injuries, and just ran.
"Wait!"
"Stop!"
Two Alphas chased after me.
I ran like my life depended on it, Omega survival instincts in full panic mode.
I burst out of the park in one desperate sprint, not stopping until I reached the dorm building, gasping for air.
Luna opened the door, her eyes widening: "What the hell happened? You look like you've seen a ghost!"
"Noth—nothing," I wheezed. "Just wiped out on my bike."
I couldn't exactly tell her I might have been marked as prey by two of the most powerful Alphas in the Alliance.
What if they really were coming for revenge?
Sure, Packs claim to be peaceful, but private grudges… who knows?
