Chapter 236 BETTER BE SAFE

1758words
ANDREW POV:

"What have you done with my family?" Tessa asks, her eyes glaring at me, she looks furious, mad furious at me.

"Cyril is sick for a long time." I tell her and she pulls me closer aggressively, "What did you do?" She questions, her breath fanning over my face.

"I haven't done anything." I snap pulling my collar out of her grip, is she out of her mind? Why would I harm a child?

Because you have harmed her before. My subconscious interrupts and I immediately glower at it.

"Cyril was sick long before you left." I remind her and finally, she seems to get back her senses, "What happened to him, now?" She asks in a low voice that I could barely hear.

"Dialysis is getting unbearable for him, now," I tell her and her face turns pale.

"Mom and Dad?" She asks anxiously, "They are beside him every time." I comfort her.

"Cyril has been asking for you…" I tell her and then pause scrutinizing her expressions. "I haven't told him yet…" My words start to trail off, "About what happened between us." I emphasize the last two words and she immediately scoffs with an aggressive tone.

"You mean when you betrayed his sister, or when you revealed that you and your sister have bought her womb under the name of fake marriage."

"It wasn't fake," I tell her in a restrained tone.

"Oh, yeah, it wasn't fake the F**k was real actually, very much real." She gives a sarcastic laugh which prickles my skin feeling insulted.

"I was never fake, Tessa. I told you when I didn't love you and told you when I was in…" In my anger, I was going to confess my love for her when suddenly her hand raised up and she stops me in mid-way rudely.

"Enough… I don't want to look back at the disastrous moments of my life at all."

Disastrous? Her time with me was disastrous.

Her words completely stunned me, our blissful time was a disaster for her.

"What's the name?" Tessa's nudge on my arm brings me back to my senses, she has a piece of paper placed on the table and a pen in her hand. "Huh?" I look at her, puzzled.

"The name of the hospital, I want to see Cyril." She explains and finally, I get it.

"Oh, he isn't here actually." I tell her and she frowns, "So, then where the hell is she?" She crumbles the paper slightly in annoyance.

"He's in San Diego, California. We need to fly there." I tell her and her jaw drops in an instant and after a moment, she starts to shake her head furiously, "You're lying, everything is a lie. You're trying to trick me again, you'll kick me out and take Cyrus from me, right?" She blurts out complete nonsense and my brows furrow in distress.

What the hell is she talking about?

"No…" I exclaim, "Are you out of your mind, what are you talking about?"

She looks at me suspiciously, not believing in my word and my blankness at all. Oh, God.

"I am not lying, Tessa," I tell her while holding my hands up in the air to show her that I am harmless to her.

"I don't trust you." She looks at me firmly, her eyes cold and determined.

"Ah…" I take a deep sigh and then sit on the bed that's present in the room, it's soft and comforting. "Come here."

I pat the seat beside me, requesting her softly, I don't feel strength in having a heated argument with her now. I am happy that Aaron has finally got a chance to have his life back and I don't want him to lose it.

She hesitates, and slowly sits beside me, Thank God.

I turn to her side and then ask softly, "What do you want me to do that made you trust me that I am not lying to you?"

She looks at me for a moment, thinking, I guess, "I want to talk to Cyril, now." She demands and I nod my head, "Fine."

I take out my phone and swiftly dial the number of the nurse who is always available beside Cyril at this hour.

RING … RING … RING …

The phone starts to ring and I put it on speaker. Tessa keeps shaking from nervousness but her face remains straight, completely neutral.

And finally, the call gets answered.

"Sir Andrew."

"Hello Lea, is Cyril awake at this time?"

"Oh, maybe, that poor boy barely got some sleep last night. I am going to check if he's still up. Last night, he talked about his sister, as usual, his mother got too emotional so I sent her back. You know her, whenever her daughter's topic is brought up she would start getting teary. Well, I am heading to Cyril, and hopefully, he will be…" She pauses, Lea is a talkative person, and I don't mind stopping her, maybe her words seem authentic to Tessa.

"He is sleeping," She says with a disappointed sigh.

"Oh, never mind. I'll call you later." I tell her and then after thanking her sweetly, I cut the call.

"So, do you believe it, now?" I ask Tessa, she still looks taken back from what she had heard.

"Does Dad know?" She inquires.

"Yes, your mother, too," I tell her.

"Oh." Her face drops her mouth curling into "O" disheartenedly.

"So, will you go now?" I ask slowly.

"But, what about Cyrus and Aaron?" She asks worriedly.

"We'll take them with us." I tell her and she looks at me in disbelief, "I have talked to the doctor, Aaron is good to travel. We will be back in two days." I tell her and she nods her head in agreement.

"Have you told my parents about Cyrus?" She asks and I shake my head, no, they know about the existence of Aaron only. If I had shown Cyrus's picture they would have asked multiple questions regarding her and I never wanted to reveal her existence to anyone.

The more she would stay low key, the better it would be for her and Cyrus to stay happily.

"Why do you have the key to my parent's house? Why did they shift?" Tessa asks in one breath, she seems a bit frustrated at the moment.

"After you disappear, Ann has got doubts about your parents, and I knew that your parents were innocent in all this, so I helped them to shift. And the key to the house, your mother has given it to me. Maybe in hope that one day you will return." I tell her slowly trying to read her mind but her expressions give nothing.

She stays neutral most of the time.

"I want to see the house." She says out of the blue, surprising me.

"House?" I ask in doubt.

"My parent's house." She emphasizes.

"No… the snow is heavy today, and besides it's a long ride." I refuse her and she looks at me with an angry pout. "I want to go."

"I can't, Tessa," I tell her determinedly and then stand up from my place.

"I am calling for a car and we will leave in a while." I say dismissively and then take a step when she suddenly holds my arm pulling me back, "I want to see the house before leaving for San Diego, please." She says with pleading eyes, completely mesmerizing me and my arms itch to pull her in my embrace.

It's already so cold, some warmth from her could be relaxing, no?

"Tessa…" I exhale holding her hand wanting to refuse her but her eyes gives me no room to deny her request, F**k me, but her safety is necessary, "Tessa, I can't. When the weather gets better I will take you there on my own." I tell her with assurance but she just rolls her eyes unhappily looking offended by my refusal.

Great.

Back to cold and furious Tessa.

We wait for a while for the car to arrive and then head back to the mansion, because of heavy snow I give up the idea of going to the office now and instead stay with the kids, Tessa spends a little time with Cyrus and then excuses herself.

She looks tired and sad, and I think after knowing about her family, she is disturbed too and some alone time is necessary for her.

She vanishes like a ghost. I didn't see her for the whole day afterward. Aaron is weak and sleepy because of his visit to the hospital while Cyrus seems fine.

Without Tessa, I am able to make a good bond with Cyrus and discover his likes and dislikes. At Dinner too, Tessa didn't show up, worriedly I walked to her room, and Miss Celine told me, she didn't answer her at all.

I knock on her door and then wait patiently for her to open but she didn't. Anxiously I open the door and walk in slowly, it's dark and quiet inside.

"Tessa," I call out not wanting to scare her at all. She remains unmoved by my appearance in her room that's highly doubtful. Feeling suspicious, I switch on the lights and notice Tessa fully covered under the blanket, why would she cover herself like this?

I thought and unknowingly, my hand grab the corner of the blanket and I pull it away from her just to find pillows under them.

Why are there pillows instead of Tessa?

Where did she go?

My mind awakes in alarm, I look around carefully and check the washroom and the wardrobe, both are empty and untouched. So, where the hell is she?

The terrace? She might have gone for a walk, she loves the flowerbed, but it would be covered with snow, no?

I stop in my tracks, trying to force my mind to think of the possibility of where she would have gone. And then something clicks. I turn and stride into my room, straight to the wardrobe, I take out my mother's jewelry box and look for the keys.

Keys…

Keys…

And I couldn't find it.

Damn… Tessa has taken them, such a thief…

Angrily, I burst out of my room, and then with a calm and cold expression, I ask Miss Martha to put Cyrus to sleep while I march out of the mansion ignoring Ann's anxious gaze on me.

Tessa, you better be safe or I'll make you regret your actions.
