Chapter 156 STUCK IN HURRICANE
1654words
So, today's my last day in Beijing. For Lillian, the days go quickly in a snap of time while for me it's a long journey. Away from my Tessy.
My body is craving her touch and my heart is missing her too.
Oh, Tessy.
I have texted her my flight details, and she sounds excited and happy about my return. I am also excited to see her and not forget about her present.
I and Lillian check out from the hotel and the weather seems too windy. I look at Lillian and she gives me a blank look. When we reach the airport, we head straight for boarding, the seconds seem unbearable for me and while we wait to board the plane, we hear an announcement making us frown in displeasure.
"What the hell?" I groan.
"Seems like Mr. Maverick wasn't joking," Lillian says and I curse heavily, "F**k, is it really a storm?" I mumble in disbelief and Lillian corrects me, "A hurricane."
F**k.
I sit back at my place, taking out my phone, I dial Ann's number informing her about the delay and then I call Tessa before the call could connect the signal drops from my phone and we hear a loud THUD from outside.
"The weather has gone out of control, we request all the passengers to head for the waiting room." A woman starts announcing and soon the waiting area becomes crowded where I and Lillian get stuck with other passengers.
We spent a whole day at the airport in stress and anxiety, hoping the weather would get better so we could leave but no, it seems like God is also against our wish as the hurricane didn't stop and because of it we don't even get any signals in our mobile.
Oh, Tessa.
I hope Ann had informed her about my delayed flight. Again, I have disappointed her but this isn't in my hands at all.
We head back to the same hotel from where we had checked out a day ago, who knows we would be coming back to that same hotel room instead of being in our homes.
Sighing helplessly, I freshen up, and then I and Lillian had dinner together.
I keep looking for the signal but none appears.
"It's okay, Andy. Don't get too anxious," Lillian comforts me and I snap at her angrily, "You have nobody to go back to, but I have a family, my wife is waiting for me at home and so is my sister. How could I not get anxious? I want to go back to them now instead of being trapped in a hurricane with you."
My voice gets high and Lillian shrinks from the embarrassment. She looks at me with hurtful eyes and before I am able to compose myself she turns and enters her room slamming her door in my face.
BOOM
Great, only this thing was missing on this business trip.
I sit on the sofa dejectedly and then keep dialing Tessy's number but it never gets connected.
After pondering for a while, I finally made my way towards Lillian's door and knocked.
KNOCK … KNOCK …
"Lillian, I am sorry, I just… I just got angry… I didn't mean those words…" I apologize sincerely. I know she had gone through a very rough time. She had been head over heels in love with her husband but that bastard cheated on her and ruined all her happiness.
She had married him after getting against her family and now after his betrayal, she was left with nothing. A broken soul with a broken heart.
I always wanted her and Ron to catch up together but she never seemed to forget her ex-husband as I gave up the thought of bringing them both together.
Sigh…
I waited patiently and there was no response from her.
F**k, I have hurt her quite badly I guess in my wrath.
I lean on the door waiting but no reply at all, nor any movement but I am damn sure that she hasn't slept yet.
"I couldn't get to Tessa and that is why I feel pissed. I had disappointed her many times in such a short period of our marriage. I don't want to disappoint her more. I was angry because I knew she would be waiting for me at the door. She would be hoping for me to return or call but again all she gets is a disappointment." I speak and then sigh sadly.
OH, Tessy, I wish I would be able to contact you.
I stayed at her door for longer but she didn't show up and finally, I stepped away in distress.
Let me give her some time to calm down.
CLICK
Just as I turn I hear the door unlocking and then turn again in the door's direction. Lillian stood at the door with red eyes, her arms wrapped around her chest staring at me, angrily.
"Apologize," she demands and even if she won't I would have apologized.
"I am sorry, Lillian," I tell her and she scoffs.
What?
"On your knees," She points from her eyes and I scoff, "Seriously?"
She turns to close the door again on my face when I stop her impulsively, "Wait."
I get on my knees and then apologize to her with a sincere heart, "I am deeply sorry, Lillian."
She looks at me intently, not saying anything in response, "Lillian…" I warn her I know she is thinking of something wicked to demand.
"Fine, Apology accepted." She says and I give her a relieving smile as I stand up.
"Are you really missing your wife? Or are you pissed because of Mr. Maverick?" She asked me curiously later.
"Mr. Marven has become a long-time opponent of mine, so I would be getting many chances later to get piss on him. I was really looking forward to seeing Tessa, actually." I reveal and immediately regret it as she narrows her eyes at me.
"I had already told you, you would fall in love with her. After all, she is your sister's choice." Her eyes brimming, her face covered with a wide grin.
"Whatever," I mumble, irritated, and then standing up, I walk towards my room.
"Hey, I am not finished talking," Lillian complains from behind.
"That is an impossible task, Lillian," I joke as I close the door of my room and then fall on my bed tiredly. For the last time, I take out my phone hoping for any signal but I get none, and then hugging a pillow tightly in my arms, I try to fall asleep.

"How long?" I look at the queue in front of me and then at the receptionist who has been giving me a smile that is more formal than it should be.
"Sir, there is a long queue as you can see. Everyone is anxious to inform their family about them." She says politely and I could understand, except this phone, no phone is getting any signal and everyone is anxious and desperate to talk to their loved ones and informed them about their situation just as I am eager to talk to Tessy.
I put my hands in my pocket taking out some money, maybe a bribe would work to get my turn faster.
But before I could speak, the receptionist touched my hand pushing it back into my pocket, and then shaking her head she revealed her wish, "Not money, perhaps ten minutes in that room."
She points at the side door with her eyes and finally, I understand her intentions, I hold her hand and pull it away from mine.
"I am married, Miss," I showed her my wedding ring while raising my hand and she gave me a dissatisfied look. Like seriously, the reason why I talked to her was that she is the only one here with fluent English speaking. Others have no idea about the English language at all.
And she takes that as a hint. Does she think she could hit on me like this, seriously??
"I can't help you then, Sir." She says politely and I know inside she would be screaming from dissatisfaction but hell, who cares?
Helplessly, I keep waiting for my turn and finally, it's my number.
"Only 3 minutes, Sir." The woman says cautiously and I want to argue but when I see the line behind me I gulp down all the argumentative words.
Nodding my head, I dial Tessa's number, come on, Tessa. But unfortunately, her number is dead.
F**k, I then try Ann's number and she picks up my call quickly, "Andrew? Dear, how are you? What's going on there?" She asks, worried but I am not in the mood to answer any of her questions as I ask anxiously, "Ann, where is Tessa? I couldn't get through to her. The weather is getting worse. I don't think I will be able to return soon. Could you please connect Tessa to me?"
I pause, waiting for her reply.
"Ann," I call out, my voice sounding urgent and desperate to hear Tessa's voice.
"Oh, she has fallen asleep, I guess." Ann informs me and I request desperately, "Ann, wake her up. I want to hear her voice."
Again, there was silence and after a while, I heard Ann's response, "Ok."
Thanks, Lord, I sigh in relief tapping my foot and eagerly waiting for Tessa to come over and talk, sleepyhead, even when I am away she could sleep while I am here not able to blink my eyes without thinking about her.
This hurricane has stopped me from getting to her otherwise if it was possible I would have flown to her. I am that much desperate for her and I hope she values my desperation for her instead of disappointing me.
Oh please, Tessy don't disappoint me…
I am helplessly stuck in this hurricane.
