Chapter 18 MY NEW HOME

1735words
Before I can say anything to my husband, he strides away from me, again getting busy with his phone. I wonder what it is about his phone? What's so important, that he can't resist keeping his phone aside only for the sake of our wedding day.

I am trying my best to not scowl at him or at anyone that comes near me because I don't want to create a scene here. Maybe, later, I could confront my husband and finally discuss his cold behavior towards me.

Yeah, just a few hours, Tess. Be patient until then.

It's time for me to leave as our reception ends. Miss Swan and the people she had invited walks away and I look at my parent with teary eyes. Ok, so it is the time to say "Goodbye" for real.

Taking a deep sigh, I hug my mother, "I am gonna miss you, mom."

"Me too, Tess. Keep in contact with me, ok." She tells me as she pulls away and touches my cheek lovingly. I nod my head and then hug my father, he hugs me back more tightly.

"I love you, Dad," I confess, no matter how much weird the circumstance would become between us I am never going to stop loving him.

"Tess, dear, Please forgive me if I had done anything wrong. Always remember that I love you the most… I am a helpless father…" My father sighs deeply and chokes. I don't understand why he keeps asking for forgiveness from me, what has he done?

Does he think forcing me into this marriage was wrong? Does he feel like he has done unfair to me by forcing me into this marriage? But, Dad you don't know that unknowingly you have given me the biggest happiness of my life.

I wish I could tell him that but I purse my lips and then kiss my father's forehead, "Dad, no matter what decision you made for me, I know whatever you did is for my good and I am very happy."

My father sighs with relief but still, his eye shows guilt. Our moment gets disturbed by Cyril's presence, I turn and see my mother pushing the wheelchair towards us in which Cyril is sitting still wearing a suit looking like an innocent child yet dapper.

He is wearing a mask now, yeah in public places he needs to wear one for the protection. I touch his hand in concern.

"Where is your husband, sis?" He asks, looking around for Andrew.

I was going to make an excuse about Andrew but as I open my mouth, someone's voice makes me shut my mouth immediately. "So… Here is our little Cyril."

Andrew shows up from nowhere and walks toward us, he has a huge smile on his face that I didn't see the whole time during our wedding. He bends down beside me and sits on his one knee to be at Cyril's height.

"So, buddy, how are you feeling now?" He asks and I know that Cyril is grinning like a fool under his mask.

"I... I am fine… Thank you for marrying my sister." He says hurriedly making me blush from embarrassment.

"Shut up, Cyril." I snap inwardly as I look at him with narrow eyes.

"You're Welcome," Andrew says with a smile on his face. "So, do you approve of me as your sister's husband or do I need to work on it, buddy?" He asks and that makes me wider my eyes on him. Seriously, he really knows that I am his wife? And approval from my brother? Hello, what about me Andrew? You barely look at me the whole day…

"No… No… You both are a perfect match… Just never break my sister's heart." Cyril says as he holds my hand and then gives it into Andrew's hand. "I am giving my sister to you, Kindly take good care of her." He says like a responsible brother and I smile at his authenticity.

"I will. From now on, she is my responsibility." Andrew tells him like a good and caring husband and I am completely dumbstruck by his unusual words. My mother and father look satisfied and pleased by Cyril and Andrew's conversation but I am shocked completely shocked.

A part of me is happy too looking at Andrew being so generous with my brother, he talks with him so gently and I could see the care in his eyes for him. He stands and then shakes his hand with Cyril, Cyril looks like he is on cloud nine.

"It's nice meeting you, Cyril. I and your sister will visit you soon." He says and then passes me a smile, I freeze for a moment, his smile was so genuine to me.

I smile back and hold his arm happily, "Now are you happy Cyril?" I ask him and he nods his head, "Very much."

"We shall go now," Andrew whispers in my ear and I look at him. "Yeah… We need to go Cyril. Mom, Dad please take good care of my little brother." I say and then hug Cyril warmly. Andrew too gives Cyril a hug. Before leaving, he nods his head at my mom and shakes hands firmly with my Dad.

Just like that, I sit in the car and on my way to my new home, my husband's home.

We sit in silence and again Andrew seems busy with his phone, he keeps calling someone but seems like it's going into the voicemail every time. He closes his eyes looking distressed, I wonder what it is that is bothering him.

Being a good wife, I touch his hand that is curled into a fist resting on his knee. "It's going to be ok," I tell him with a small smile and he stares right into my eyes, I don't know what it is but I feel a bit nervous by his gaze on me.

It seems like he is trying to see my soul. Seconds passed between us.

TICK… TOCK… TICK… TOCK…

And Andrew then hums as he lays back lazily, "Hmmm." He even pulls his hand away and I again embarrassedly sit back in my place. All the way, he keeps his eyes close as though he is tired, exhaustedly tired.

I also didn't say anything giving him space. The car stops and Andrew gets off before I am able to sit up. Yeah, the ride is long and I am also feeling tired now. Thankfully, my savior, Ron is here to help. He opens the door for me and taking his hand, I get out of the car.

I look at the huge mansion in front of me that is painted white, in the night it looks very beautiful and the lights reflecting on it make it more elegant and astonishing.

I keep looking at it in admiration until Ron's voice calls me back, "Miss, this way."

He leads me the way, I walk behind him holding my wedding dress, a man in a butler dress is standing at the door, he greets Ron and then me, politely.

As we enter a huge chandelier gets my attention on the roof, everything here is sparkling, it's like I have entered into a diamond house. I walk as I look around in admiration, we walk for a long time until we reach another door.

A woman is standing at the door, she looks like a young maid, she greets Ron shyly and then greets me, I turn to look at her again, she seems to like Ron. I make an internal note to talk with Ron about her.

Focus on your husband first, Tess. A voice comes from inside me as a complete taunt and I groan unhappily.

Thankfully, no one notices it.

Walking in this space, it is less sparkling but everything shouts wealth and luxury, wow, a word that comes immediately into my mind after looking around.

We are walking in a huge space, that has sofas in the corner and the other corner has a large dining table that could fit at least 20 people at once, I think.

Walking more into it, I notice a kitchen on the left because I could smell food. At right there are some doors and I don't know what's inside them. Taking a lift from the corner, Ron takes me to the second floor.

DING…

The elevator doors open, and I follow Ron curiously, not forgetting my husband, I ask, "Where is Andrew?" He stops suddenly and I bump into his back. "Ouch…"

"Sorry… But I don't know where did he go. Must be in his room." He says apologetically and I give him a small smile. "Hmm…"

"Here, please." He gestured to me with his hand and I follow.

We are walking on a round shape floor, there is a round railing from which I can see the first floor and also the ground, I look up and there are more floors over this.

I follow Ron quietly, I wonder if he is taking me to my room.

Ron stops in front of a door and then knocks three times on it.

KNOCK... KNOCK... KNOCK

Not waiting for any reply, he opens the door wider for me. I look at him blankly and then at the door, gulping as I enter the room.

I take small steps, looking around curiously, there is a long pathway, which has multiple paintings on it, it shows pain, love, and sacrifice.

The light is dim here and It gives me a weird feeling, I look down at the soft carpet that is brown in a very dark shade, I don't think I could ever tell the exact shade name but it gives me a bad vibe.

I feel like I am walking into an old haunted museum and the quiet surrounding is nearly making my heart sink into my chest. I finally finish the pathway with a thumping heart and finally, I see a bright light.

Miss Swan is sitting on a big chair similar to a throne and the way she sits firmly at it, she looks not any lesser than a queen who is ready to rule her kingdom.

"Come here, Tessa." She gestured for me to come closer. I brace my heart and then walk toward her, curious about what she needs to talk about with me?
