Unlocking it I open the door to Lyndsey "where's your freaking key?!" I have the right mind to hit this girl

"Don't get mad" she smiles

"I hate when you say that!" staring at her scared of what's about to happen next I ask "what happened?"

Lyndsey moves out of the way and I see Gavin standing with Rylan passed out in his arms. Without saying a word I walk away and Lyndsey rushes in behind me, I walk to my room "you're

mad" she guesses correctly

"Nope I mean why should I be? It's not like you're trying to ruin my good mood HOURS AFTER I TELL YOU WHY I'M IN A GOOD MOOD!"

"I can explain I swear" she shuts my bedroom door so we can have privacy "Gavin and I got to the bar and he was already there drinking, I tried to ignore him but Gavin wanted to sit at the bar. He started talking to us and before we knew it he passed out, I wouldn't have brought him here Keegan we didn't know what else to do with him"

"How about check his pockets, or his phone for an emergency contact" I give her some examples

"I tried that but the only things that were in pockets were his wallet, phone, and car keys. His phone was locked but look Keegan" she pulls his phone from her jacket pocket "his lock screen is a picture of you guys" she hands it to me "look how in love you guys are."

I remember that picture, we were in my room studying and he pulled me to him kissing me on the cheek and I picked up his phone and took a picture of it. I hand the phone back "keep it, it'll give you two a reason to talk"

"This isn't ok Lyndsey you can't just-"

She cuts me off "the bartender told us that he drinks there all most every night, rants endlessly about some guy then passes out. Most nights when he's too drunk to drive he just takes a cab home, but when he passes out they kick him out and he just sleeps in his car." I stare at the picture and look back up at Lyndsey "if you want to be mad or give me an earful I'll gladly take it but you have to know I

wouldn't purposely ruin your good mood" "I know" I reply quietly

"If you don't want to see him Gavin and I will take turns keeping an eye on him and wake him up early in the morning so he can leave"

"It's fine you don't have to do that, he'll probably just leave when he wakes up anyways and I can stay in here till then"

"Ok" she walks to the door and opens it "at least talk to him Kee, I know you miss him and he spent his whole night telling us how much he misses you" then walks out.

Sitting in bed I spend the rest of the night thinking about him, what would talking to him mean? I never know what to say until I'm standing in front of him. I can't believe he's been getting drunk at that bar almost every night I thought he was doing ok, every time I saw him he was always laughing or smiling with his friends.

It's almost 8 am now and I spent my whole night staring at the ceiling and thinking about Rylan. Getting a text from Lyndsey I pick up my phone reading it I'm leaving for class but I woke Rylan up and told him to go. See you later.

This is my chance if I go out there I can talk to him and figure out what's going on, I pick up his phone staring at the lock screen one last time. Staring at my smile I remember how much he made me smile and laugh and I miss that, I miss him.

Standing up holding his phone I walk to my door and take a deep breath, opening the door I walk out of my room walking towards the living room. I don't hear anything, I get to the living room and see the couch is empty, he left. Maybe that's a good thing it's probably the universe telling me talking to him would be a bad idea, sighing relieved I walk away heading for the kitchen.

As soon as I walk in I find him standing at the counter writing on a piece of paper, he doesn't see me and he continues to write. Clearing my throat to get his attention he slightly jumps and turns around. He sees me and I see him, we both stare at each other and after a moment he does one of his half smiles "sorry I didn't mean to wake you up, I was just leaving a note to thank you guys for letting me crash, I'm leaving right now" he puts the pen down. Watching as he pats his pockets and look around he turns back to me "you haven't seen my phone by any chance have you?" Looking down at my hand I remember I was holding it. I hand it to him and he smiles coming a bit closer to me and taking it from my hand "thanks" he shoves it in his pocket.

"I thought you were ok" I finally say "when I see you around campus it didn't seem like you were thinking about me"
