Chapter 60

1073words
Class starts and the boys face forward to focus. This was one thing taken off of Nico's plate, but getting through in this school would still deem difficult.

After his swimming class as the guys are changing Nico is distracted by the wet muscles everywhere he looks, it's like they know what they're doing to him. How can he look away when Matty Ellis is walking towards him wearing noting but a towel? As the locker room empties and Matty begins getting dressed, Nico doesn't think the boy will notice if he continues to look but Matty does.

"See something you like new kid?" Matty asks as he pulls his pants up

Realizing he's been caught Nico quickly looks away buttoning up his shirt, "uh nope."

"That's a lie" Matty grins crossing the bench that blocks them to get closer to Nico. "What's your name?"

"Nico," he answers grabbing his tie from the locker and placing it around his neck "I'm Matty, captain of the swim team."

"Yeah, I can tell" trying to explain further that he didn't mean for that to sound dirty Nico continues, "because you're the fastest in class, not

because of the-" he points to Matty's arms and chest.

Matty smiles liking how nervous he's making Nico, "we're always looking for new guys to join the team, you should try out."

"Totally would if I hadn't already signed up for the bunjy jumping team, if I get lucky they'll run out of rope and I'll just plummet. Keep me from ever having to come back here"

Matty laughs, "if you change your mind"

"I'll let you know" Matty walks away and Nico grabs his blazer and bag leaving the locker room. Walking to his locker before his next class Nico is stopped by the dean who stands in front of him,

"hi... dean Rivers" Nico stares at the strange man blocking him. "This isn't a zoo have some respect for our halls"

"Excuse me?" Nico is confused as to what the tightly wound man is talking about "Your tie, fix it"

"Oh, right I'm-" before he can apologize the dean walks away, "great chat."

Getting to his locker Nico opens it staring at himself in the mirror, he begins to struggle to tie it since it was his mom who did it for him this morning. Frustrated he starts over and over to no end "ugh!"

"Having a hard time?" Through his mirror Nico sees Christian standing behind him, without giving Nico a chance to answer Christian reaches around him and begins to tie the tie for him. "It's not as hard as it seems" stuck still with the boy's arms around his neck, Nico's eyes are glued to the mirror as he watches Christian just tying his tie. "There you go" he finishes

"Wow everyone in this school is so nice" he turns to Christian

"Not really, it's just that us attractive people have to look out for each other."

Trying not to blush at the compliment Nico opens his mouth to answer, but doesn't get a chance when Clay walks up. "Hey what's going on?" He asks standing next to Nico

"Hey little brother, figured I'd introduce myself to your new friend since you weren't going to." "We're the same age Chris, and I never have to introduce you to people, you just assume they want

to meet you and walk up to them yourself."

"Are you saying he didn't want to meet me?" "Maybe he didn't, not everyone's up your ass, Chris." "Um" Nico finally speaks up, "I can speak for myself" They turn to Nico "I'm sorry new guy-"

"His name is Nico," Clay corrects Christian

"Nico, don't feel like you have to slum it here, Darlington has more to offer than charity cases." Christian turns walking away

Clay turns to Nico who shuts his locker and looks at him, "charity cases?"

"I won't join a sports team and be generic, so Chris and his friends make fun of me for it" "That's so messed up" putting his bag over his shoulder Nico looks at Clay, "welp later."

"This always happens," Clay says causing Nico to turn back, "I make a friend and he takes them. If you want to be his friend or be with him just tell me now so I don't waste my time."

It's crossed his mind the moment he started school here, but Nico remembers why he's really here so he decides having a friend is better than meaningless hookups. "I had to leave my last school because I couldn't stop hooking up with guys," he says to Clay, "I mean it got to a point where I wouldn't even go to school because I was having sex." Nico scoffs "but that's not why I'm here so you won't have to worry about that, I don't want to be with your brother. Your friendship is enough" they both smile, "now come on I need you to show me where the school store is so I can buy some damn clip-on ties."

They walk away together "how much sex were you having?" Clay asks curiously "Oh god, you don't want to know" they chuckle.

While in the kitchen to get some water Nico leaves his phone on the couch where he was laying, when he comes back he sees his mom holding his phone. "What are you doing?" He takes it out of her hand and sees his group text with his friends from his old school opened.

"Were you reading my texts?"

"Nicolas please tell me you haven't already found a guy-"

"Mom!" He barks upset "don't read my texts! And have some faith in me!"

"I'm just saying Darlington would've been for nothing if you're not even trying to change." "But I am though, nothing happened mom"

She doesn't believe her son and she knows if she keeps arguing he'll just continue to deny it, "fine

Nico, just try to not forget your priorities."

"Enough about the priorities!" He walks past her leaving.

Nico plans on doing whatever it takes to prove to everyone and himself that his life isn't just about sex. While doing homework in his room Nico's phone dings, he reads the text 'sorry you saw me acting like that yesterday, Chris just brings that out of me I promise that's not who I am.'

Replying Nico types, 'Don't worry about it, all is forgotten.' 'Thanks.'
