Chapter 59
1040words
"Why did I get stuck going to private school while they're still at their regular schools again?" Nico walks into the kitchen trying to fix his tie as his family sit at the table eating breakfast
"The answer is the same as the last time you asked, you're in private school because you need to get your priorities straight." His mom answers taking his tie from him and fixing it
"Priorities? I promised I would stop having sex, dad you believed me right?" He looks over at his father who's at the table eating "Nope keep me out of this," he shakes his head
Nico sits down next to his 6-year-old sister, "what's sex?" She turns to him asking "Pen sex is when two guys like each other very much-"
"Hey!" their mom barks at him "stop it, Nico." Then she turns to her daughter, "you're too young to know what that stuff is, Penny."
"What about me?" Eli the second child asks "I'm ten, can I know?" "Nope also too young, now eat your food."
"Guys" Nico gets the attention back to him, "if this was just some elaborate joke you totally got me, we don't have to keep going."
"You've been at that school a week Nico, it's clearly not a joke."
"Ok fine but why not just switch me to a different school? Why private school?"
"Because at least then we'll know you're prioritizing your education too, if you get kicked out for being dumb and horny we'll know
something's actually wrong with you, and we'll have you admitted. Is that what you want, darling?" She asks smiling at him
Nico looks at his dad who's eyes fixate in his phone trying to avoid the conversation, "nothing?" Frustrated he stands "I'm glad we can all agree on something in this house." Walking to the fruit bowl on the counter Nico picks up a banana, turning to his siblings he says "Pen, Eli" they look at him, "sex is when a penis goes up a butt!" He rushes out the kitchen
"Nicolas go to school!" His mom barks.
Nico was a free spirit and his parents trusted him to do whatever he wanted but when that became boys over school, they realized that sex might be clouding their teenage son's judgment. So, wanting to prove they were more than just cool parents they decided to put Nico in private school, that way he'll have no choice but to focus.
It was way too soon to say their plan was working because they know their son, he'll find a distraction sooner or later.
Private school has been Nico's worst nightmare, a bunch of preppy rich kids only worried about looking good. It's easy for Nico to tell himself he doesn't belong, because he was lucky enough to go to public school with real friends, and all the guys he'd ever want.
During his first week, Nico has learned so far that best friends Kelsie Chapman and Cotton Lance basically run the school, they're top of their classes, their sports team, and the food chain. Then
there are the preppy sports kids they stick together and you can always tell what teams they are on, because of the very conspicuous sticks their holding. The preppy bad kids who throw the best parties and think their money can buy the law, and the preppy prep kids not smart but not completely dumb just have a lot of money that gets them places.
Then there are the Wallace brothers, Christian and Clay Wallace. Christian and Clay are half brothers with nothing else in common.
Christian is perfect and he knows it, he walks into every room with a confidence that beams right off him, you could just see it. Nico likes that, and on any given day his first instinct would have been to do whatever it takes to get Christian in bed. But things are different now, he needs to be different so Christian Wallace is off limits.
But then there's- "hey," Nico is greeted walking towards his seat in class
"Hi," he says back sitting next to Clay. Clay Wallace is the cute but approachable one, not to say he couldn't be a worthy candidate for Nico but Clay wasn't his brother. So, Nico doesn't see him as a possible distraction. "How's it going?" Nico turns to him smiling
They share a desk so Clay has been giving him an inside scoop of the school, "good, what about you? Have you picked your extracurricular activity yet?"
"I still don't get why that's so important, at my old school no one gave a shit what you did on your spare time."
"Well at Darlington spare time is time you're wasting on your future." "I hate this school," Nico sighs.
"It's not so bad" he turns to Clay's smiling face, and can't help but turning his frown to a slight smile,
"I can help." "How?"
"You can join my club," "What's your club?"
"It's a charity club, I'm the only member which makes me president. All I have to do is pick a charity every year and raise money for it, it's
pretty easy."
"I don't want to spend my free time begging people for money"
"I don't do that," he shakes his head "I just lie about logged hours, do whatever I want and just donate my parents money. They don't know what to do with it anyway and the charities get what they need."
Nico stares at Clay "wow," and Clay chuckles "and you get away with it?" He nods "what if someone wanted to join your club?"
"Are you kidding? Have you met these people? All they care about is themselves, when it comes time for me to recruit new members, they just sign checks or throw money at me so they won't have to join. It's the perfect crime"
"You are an evil genius, Clay Wallace" they stare at each other with amusing smiles, "what would I have to do to join this club?"
"Be approved by the president," "Wouldn't that be-"
He nods "and he says you're in under one condition"
"Anything"
"You bring snacks to the next meeting," Nico chuckles "done!"
