Chapter 132
1254words
This is the most awaited time for me and Damon. Nobody knows, but us and Josh. We made sure to keep this mission a secret. I don't want Elaine and Gab to get involved here. We don't know if things will happen to go South.
"Mapheus is waiting inside," the server said and bowed politely to us. I did the same to her.
Damon turned his head at me.
"Shall we?" he asked. I looked on his comforting green eyes.
"Y—Yes..."
I secured the fluntuela plant on my a small box I have. Nobody can be able to smell this inside. I made sure to not spread the smell around the palace. I don't want them to know what we're up to.
"Vestacios, Mapheus."
He's sitting across the room while studying a huge map in front of him. That's the map of Vortaxia.
"Vestacios, vortans. What can I help you?" His thick indian accent echoed in my ears. Damon was about to explain why we're here when the map suddenly rings like it discovered something. Mapheus immediately diverted his attention to the map. He zoom the Spheria Kingdom and the inside of the palace. The next thing he checked made my brows furrowed.
He zoomed in his own office.
Damon's grip on my waist tightened. I looked at him confusedly. This can't be. Why do I feel like he's tasked to find something that happens to be in our hands?
I flinched when Mapheus looked at the box I'm holding. I immediately hide it behind my back.
"What's inside the box?" he asked curiously. I looked at Damon for help. He's just staring directly at Mapheus. Observing him like he's hiding something from us.
"The fluntuela plant."
Damon's blunt answer made me gasped. I nervously turned my head at him. We agreed to make the information confidential. Why is he suddenly spouting it to Mapheus like it's nothing?
The entity's face turned pale. He looks at us with round wide eyes.
"F—Fluntuela plant?" he repeated nervously.
"Why? Does anybody wants you to find the plant we have?" Damon confronted. He's still staring dead at Mapheus like he's the most untrustworthy person in the world. Mapheus' eyes widened. "Did God Hlaford made you find the Fluntuela plant? I'm surprised that he came straight here to block our supposedly investigation."
"How dare you speak awfully of the most powerful God in Spheria! What do you think of yourself, dragonian!" he frantically yelled. His small body started shaking from so much anger. I understand where he's coming from, but the guy he talked with is not the real God Hlaford.
"He's not the real God Hlaford we all loved and respected."
Now, it all makes sense. The reason behind all his changes. He was never God Hlaford. He's a copycat. A good shape shifter. I can't believe he made us believe that he's the real God we know.
He's a fake.
Mapheus was about to say something when Damon suddenly snatches the box from me to put out the said plant. He gave it to Mapheus.
"You're confused and I will explain to you." The entity looked at it with round eyes. "This is the clue to Freeda's murder where she was killed by the main culprit. He used the fluntuela plant to filtered his voice. He thought that his plan of killing Freeda will never get disclosed to the public, but Freeda managed to record him using the clam recorder. Do you need proofs?" he asked. Mapheus stood in front of us confused. I know that everything he's hearing is new to him, but he has to trust us.
"What do you want me to do?" he asked in a flat voice.
Damon's eyes formed a thin line. "Find the vortan who recently used fluntuela plant in his voice. It could be anyone, but we have more clues to consider," he said. I stared at Mapheus. He looks hesitant, but he took the plant anyway.
He puts it on the map and it changes in color.
"Find the vortan who own the fluntuela plant now. See if it's used in a show. I would rather check than go low."
Mapheus' words sounded like a calling. The plain map of Vortaxia suddenly twisted. It pictured a man wearing a discreet black cape. He's walking in the woods with a big claw swords in his right hand. I can't see his face, but he looks so familiar.
The man from the illusion turned his head at us. My heart skipped a beat and I think I just lost my breath.
D—Diante?
Damon gasped beside me. He wasn't expecting to see the dead man alive and walking in front of us right now. We saw him dead. We were the one's to tell everyone that he's dead. How did it happened that he's walking in front of the illusion right now while holding a big claw swords in his hand. What is this?
"A—Are you sure about that Mapheus?" I stuttered. This can't be. Diante is dead already. He can't be alive and be the main culprit to everything.
He's not like that.
*****
I am so surprised that I can't even lift a spoon of soup to my mouth. The amount of shock I have right now is very big.
Diante is the main culprit. How do we tell this to everybody? Now, that the God Hlaford sitting on the throne right now is not the real God of Spheria because the real God is dead.
For a very long time.
"What's going on?" Elaine asked. I just got back from the room. She immediately run towards me to help me with my stuffs. I looked at her exhausted. "H—Hey? Are you alright?"
"D—Diante..."
"What about him?"
"G—God Diante is the real culprit."
Her eyes widened. "What are you talking about? The God is dead already. There's now way he can the culprit. You must have got wrong informations," she replied defensively. I know that she adores the God of classife as much as I do, but I told her the whole story on how we did our mission secretly and how we get the answer to our questions.
The reason why the fake God Hlaford is still doing his so-called-responsibility is because he grew fond of the Chosens already.
Hlaford has been dead for a very long time.
My story made her stare at the wall blankly. This is now what I am picturing. Damon decided to spread the news to the Chizosas and it spread wild like fire. Everyone knows now who's the real culprit.
Josh couldn't believe what we just told him. Steve was so mad and frantic that we had to hold him to stop him from attacking the fake God.
I don't know what made God Diante do this, but I am very disappointed of him. He was the reason why I'm so eager to find the culprit. This is very upsetting.
Damon decided to summon everyone on the field. Gab used his telepathic gift to tell everyone about the plan. Some didn't want to believe us, but we prepared the evidence and proof just in case that it'd happen..
"You're betraying the God!"
"This is now what we came for!"
A variety of complains and backlash. But they all stopped when Mapheus decided to stand by our side. Everyone was shocked about his testimony. I am too. And so we decided to plan something.
Catch the fake God of Spheria.
