"Honey, are you sober up?" asked Sonya softly, her voice full of warmth.
Nick blinked a few times, trying to focus his gaze, before lifting his body slowly. She was helped by her mother who was standing on the other side of the bed. In a hoarse voice, Nick asked, "Which Nick's phone, Ma?"
Sonya immediately took the phone from the small table next to the bed and handed it over. Nick received the phone with a slight tremble, then immediately typed in the number and pressed the device to his ear.
"Yes?" The voice on the other side sounded heavy and sharp—it was Sevano.
Nick wasted no time. "Where are you?" he asked briefly.
There was a hissing sound from the other side, as if Sevano was holding back the pain. "At home," Sevano replied sharply.
Nick let out a long sigh, as if trying to gather the remnants of his strength and courage. "We have to sell the guns quickly," Nick urged in a serious tone.
From the other side, Sevano was heard squeaking, his voice filled with annoyance. "You seriously want to discuss this now?" he replied in a sharp tone, but Nick remained firm, his gaze full of determination even though his body was still weak on the bed.
On the other end of the phone, Sevano's voice sounded heavy and full of pressure. "Do you really trust Ramona?" he asked, his tone mixed with frustration and worry.
Nick didn't answer right away. His jaw instantly hardened, his gaze flat but blank, staring forward as if trying to resist the storm of urgent emotions within him.
"You just doubt me. You don't believe me?" asked Nick sharply, his voice piercing the cold air in the room, echoing in Sevano's ears.
"That's not what I mean!" Sevano swore softly, his voice rising slightly. "After everything that happened, you still trust Ramona? That's crazy, Nick! He has already destroyed you. If you keep going like this, the Hunter won't hesitate to kill you!"
Sevano took a deep breath before continuing, his voice colder but still full of warning. "We let go of Ramona and focus on our first mission. That's the only way to survive."
However, Nick's answer came lightning fast, decisive, and without hesitation. "No," he said, his voice loud and final. "I will stay with Ramona. I believe in him."
Before Sevano had time to respond, Nick pressed the button to end the call, leaving a heavy silence. His gaze remained blank, but his heart was full of conviction, even though the world around him continued to try to tear down his trust.
Inside the silent hospital room, Sonya looked at Nick with worried eyes. In a soft voice, he finally mustered up the courage to ask, "Actually, what's going on, Nick, between you and Hunter? Are you really stealing Hunter's weapon?" His voice sounded cautious, as if he didn't want to aggravate the atmosphere.
Nick let out a deep sigh, staring straight ahead before turning to look at his mom. "Mommy calm down," she said, trying to sound convincing. "Nick can handle all of this."
However, those words were not enough to ease the anxiety in Sonya's heart. He knew there was something bigger behind the conflict between his son and Hunter, a nephew he had once considered like his own son. His heart was restless at the thought of the impact of their seemingly increasingly complicated quarrel.
Sonya took a deep breath before asking again, this time in a softer, but curious tone. "Then, what about Ramona?"
Nick looked at his mother, his expression was hard to read, but there was a shadow of tension flashing across his face. He didn't answer right away, as if he was thinking of the right words to explain the complicated relationship without adding to his mother's worries. Sonya's gaze remained fixed on her, attentive, waiting for an answer that could calm her mind.
Shortly after, hurried steps rang out from the direction of the door. Ramona appeared with an anxious face, her breath was short. "Nick!" he called out in a worried tone before running up to him. Without hesitation, Ramona immediately hugged Nick tightly, as if wanting to make sure that he was really in front of her.
Nick returned the hug gently but warmly. He kissed the top of Ramona's head while breathing a sigh of relief, as if the woman's presence was the only thing that made him feel calmer. "How are you doing?" asked Ramona panicked, looking at Nick's face attentively.
"I'm fine," Nick replied briefly. However, his gaze instantly changed sharply when he noticed Ramona's cheeks that looked bruised. Carefully, he rubbed the cheek, making Ramona grimace softly.
"Did Hunter do this?" asked Nick in a low but angry voice, his jaw hardening.
"I'm fine," Ramona replied, trying to ease Nick's worries while covering his wrist, which also looked bruised. However, his movements did not escape Nick's sight. He immediately grabbed Ramona's hand to examine it further, but Ramona hurriedly pulled his hand back, trying to avoid further talk.
With a look full of guilt, Ramona turned to Sonya who was standing near them. "Sorry for yesterday's riots. I will bear all the losses," he said in a sincere tone.
Sonya smiled softly and shook her head. "No need, Ramona. Just accompany Nick and be by his side. He needs you so much."
Ramona nodded softly, feeling moved by the support given by Sonya. Shortly after, Sonya said goodbye to go home for a while and picked up some clothes for Nick, leaving the two of them in the room.
Now, there are only Nick and Ramona. Silence enveloped the room, but their gazes spoke to each other, as if there were many things they wanted to say but hadn't yet been spoken. Nick looked at Ramona with a mixture of worry and anger that he hadn't fully expressed, while Ramona tried to show his tenacity in front of him even though the injuries on his body couldn't be hidden.
Ramona immediately climbed onto the bed to lie down with Nick, Nick smiled faintly and embraced the slender body into his embrace.
"How did you get free from Hunter?" asked Nick curiously, making Ramona look up at Nick's face.
"He was still lying down from a stab wound yesterday and I deliberately added sleeping pills to all his food and replaced the medication with other medicines," Nick was surprised by that made him feel proud of Ramona.
"How can you do that, baby?" he asked while bringing his face closer to Ramona's face.
Ramona held Nick's chest and said, "He already dared to hurt you. My son's problem........... it seems that he won't dare to touch it." He said it made Nick kiss Ramona's forehead at a glance.
"After I recover, I'll try to snatch your son, let's raise your son together huh?" Ramona nodded and instantly buried her face in Nick's field chest.
"I'm really afraid something will happen to you," Ramona muttered softly, which Nick could still hear.
Nick brought his face closer until he gently crushed Ramona's pale lips, "I'm fine baby, as long as you're by my side." Ramona smiled and teased Nick's sexy lips intensely and passionately.
Nick pulled himself away and stared at Ramona, until he said, "I want to marry you again, but secretly, how?" Ramona was immediately stunned, she thought that yesterday's riot was enough to stop the marriage that Nick wanted, it turned out that she still wanted it.
