He wasn't just a great friend, he had become my best friend.

I smiled.

Iris sighed, "As much as I don't want to say this I'm going to. One of you is going end up getting hurt because of this 'relationship'" she air quoted the word relationship.

I shook my head, "We're okay. We're adults, we know what we are doing."

Iris muttered something quietly only for herself to hear.

I shrug if she wanted me to hear she would have spoken louder.

"Enough of me, how are things with Brandon?"

"Same old, same old. Nothing has changed. We love each other more and more every day."

I smiled. "You guys need to get married already. It's been five years."

I bent her head. "You know how I feel about marriage."

I nodded my head, "Yes, I do but Iris even a blind person can see how much you love each other. I know you have a bad past where marriage is concern but think about Brandon. Are you going to let him wait a next five years? What if he decides he can't wait anymore? Don't let your fear of the past decide your future."

She stayed silent for a while then started laughing afterwards, "You give good relationship advice for a person who sucks at relationships."

I shrugged, "C'est la vie."

She shook her head. "Ce n'est pas vie."

I frowned when I realize something, "Do you realize they've been gone over five minutes?"

She shrugged, "You really believed they went for drinks?" I nodded. She laughed saying, "No they went off to have a conversation just like us. Kari, you need to learn a little bit more about men. They're not far from us woman. They talk about relationships too."

"Hmmm..." I started to wonder what they could be talking about. Was Brandon giving Seth the same thing advice that his girlfriend had given me? Or were they talking about something else?

Iris and I started to talk about our secular work. She told me about things that she has been doing with her new program and I told her about my cases. I didn't remind her that Seth was the prosecutor of one them. I also told her about Keiron's girlfriend. We started to talk about random things like clothes and famous people relationship status until Brandon and Seth were standing over us.

"Hey girls."

"Hello, Mr. Parker." Iris answered.

Brandon snorted, "I think we should head out now. I have some much to do tonight"

"Like iris."

I laughed at Seth's words, they were exactly something I would say.

Iris giggled, "Yes, like me." Causing me and Seth to snort. Not the type of sexual images I want in my head.

"You know what guys Kari and I should get going as well." I look at Seth not saying anything. But I knew exactly what he was thinking so I smiled.

"Wow and you snort at us when you're planning on doing the same thing." Why the hell was Iris so straightforward?

I laughed, "I just don't want the image of you two in my head."

"You think we want the image of you too in our heads either. Seth is my cousin and that's just disgusting."

Seth turned to Brandon, "I'll have you know that I am very sexy and very very capable of getting down to business."

I laughed at Seth words, "Amen!"

Brandon turned to Iris, "I think it's our time to leave. I think someone had a little too much to drink."

"Actually, he didn't drink anything," I said pointing at Seth's cup.

Brandon hit himself on the head, "How can I forget he's always like this!"

We all start laughing even Seth.

It amazed me how could easily laugh at himself and have no care in the world.

Brandon hugged Seth, "I'll see you soon bro."

"I'll check that thing out for you," Seth emphasized on the word thing and Brandon nodded quickly. My lawyer skills were alerted making me curious as hell to know what they were talking about. I looked between the two then at Iris who was obvious to what was happening around.

I pulled her in a hug. "Think about what I said."

"You should do the same."

I nodded even if I didn't know exactly what she was talking about.

I didn't want to think about a reality where I hurt Seth or one that Seth hurt me.

I was pretty happy with where we were now.

"What's got you smiling?" I placed my phone on the table and looked across at my mother.

"I'm always smiling," I said with a smile.

Her brown eyes glimmered, "It's a boy, isn't it? Oh, my baby girl found a boy. I have to meet him."

I rolled my eyes, "Why do you have to automatically assume that I'm because of a man?"

"Because it's true isn't it? You're love. I saw the way you blushed at that text message, what did it say? As a matter of fact, let me check myself." I was fast, but my mom was faster. She quickly grabbed my phone from beside my teacup. I tried to reach for it a few times but failed. I sighed and Surrendered it's not like she knew my password anyway.

"Awe isn't this sweet. He's handsome Kari, very handsome." I faced palmed myself because I totally forgot I had place Seth as my screen lock wallpaper. It was a picture with him sleeping, his blond hair was a mess and he was partially covered with my white sheets.

What was I thinking when placed his picture for my wallpaper?

Oh, yeah.

Awe, he looks so cute...

And then I snap a few until I found the perfected one.

"I can't wait to see you later." My mom started to read. I lifted my head up in horror.

"Mom No! You can't read my text messages anymore, I'm an adult." I looked across at her pleading, "How do you even have my password?"
