I rubbed my hands over my face and start thinking about things that we could possibly do to reduce his time and then it clicked.
I could get them to give his two years of community service. That was the only thing that would work. I reached for my phone and called Claire.
"Hey, Claire sorry to call you this late."
"No, it's not a problem. I just put the kids to bed and I have to do the dishes now" she laughs through the phone. Claire was a single mother of two. Her sons' names were Josh and Jayden. Claire's boyfriend had left her, after ten years you'd think he'd propose instead he went off with an older woman. Claire was devasted. She had to work her way through college and raise her children by herself. She is very strong women and her sons are just the cutest thing on earth.
"That's sweet. I can imagine Josh in his blue Spiderman PJs and Jayden in his Superman PJs." Her kids were obsessed with the two heroes.
"Oh yeah, let's not get into the fight they had tonight about which hero is better." I could sense Claire's smile.
"Oh, well you know I'm more of a Batman fan, so I won't get too caught up in that jingle." I laughed. Batman is my best superhero, what can I say? The man is awesome, and he has no powers.
When Claire manages to calm down she said. "How can I help you, Kari?"
"Is it possible for you to schedule a meeting with the prosecutors of Oliver's case for tomorrow and call Mr. Oliver and tell him to meet me in my office at 8 am?"
"It's just after eight, I think I can get them to come for tomorrow."
"Perfect, thank you so much, Claire."
"You're welcome, Goodnight Kari and don't work too much."
I laugh. "I'll try. Goodnight Claire. Kiss my babies for me."
"I will." After Claire hang up the phone I opened a Microsoft page and start tying up the deal.
After I'm done with this case I had Mr. Benjamin's case to deal with. The Preliminary Hearing for the Benjamin Case was just two weeks away and God knows I'm not ready for that. Claire and I have been working very hard to get enough evidence to prove that Mr. Benjamin was innocent, but it was hard because he didn't have an alibi, at least not a stable one.

Hey, sweet cheeks. I rolled my eyes as I looked at Seth's text message. What does he want now?
I'm at work, can't talk rn.
So am I. Do you want to go out tonight? When I saw the text, I raised my brows then but before I could respond another one came in.
Not on a date, just for a drink. I know We as single people get bored sometimes."
I rolled my eyes. We do get bored alright, but I don't want to share my boredom with Seth freaking Parker, he was just too sexy to handle.
I can't come tonight I'm flying out of the state for a few days. I replied honestly. My client Mandy Richards used to live in Orange County and now she wants the both of us to go there and fight for her the property her father left.
When you get back then.
I don't know when I'll be back.
But you will and when you do I'm taking you out for a drink.
Maybe
Good enough. Safe flight. Don't meet any handsome jerks.
Why would I when I already have you to annoy me? Before I could erase the text, it was sent. Why the hell did I just build up his self-esteem?
He sends the LMAO emoji with a smiley face.
See you soon.
I decide not to respond to his message, I don't need him to get any ideas in that head of his.
After leaving the office, I went home to pack my suitcase. My flight was at 11 pm and I needed to be at the airport at 8 pm. I hate not been early for check in and all the other things that came after that because waiting in line at an airport sucked.
I bent on my knees and pick up Rojo. "Hey, baby girl. Mama is going to be gone for few days, so Aunty Iris will be taking care of you and your puppies." The dog growls. "Yea, I know but I promise to bring you back some treats." She licks my face and growls some more.
Whoever said Dogs don't speak Human.
Before I left the house, I called Iris. "Please don't starve my babies." I pled with her.
She laughs and responds. "I won't, just remember to tell the house cleaner to refill the feeding as well."
"I did but I need you to make sure, she and the pups get some walk. They love the park. The carrier is in my back closet..."
"Yea, yeah, yeah and the leash is in the back closet beside the box of feeding. The toys are to stay in the apartment, only the blue ball is allowed out of the house...yeah, yeah. I know all the details. I've been over this with you a million times. Didn't I survive the last time?" the last time I left New York for a case was three months ago and I had spent one week in Florida. That week was a very long week. The client was a next spoil rich brat who was foolish enough to sign a prenup and still cheat. You can just guess how that went.
