I sigh of frustration and looked over to other lines, which were no better than the one I'm in.
"You're stuck with me."
I shrug. I can't believe I left my phone in the car.
"I don't bite, Karishma." He paused and bent to my ears. "Only if you want me to."
Ignoring I looked at the snack shelf behind me. I took up one of the skittles off the rack, admiring it.
"You know in the dollar store a skittle is only $2 while in here it's $2.65." I place the skittles in my cart just to annoy him.
"Wow, you're a rich girl. I guess that's why you don't want to talk to a poor guy like me." I rolled my eyes. I didn't want to talk to him because he's annoying and the fact that he's seen me half naked eight years ago. No way.
I took up the Trident that on the shelf, not to buy it but to read the instructions just make time go away.
"I don't like Trident, all the favour leaves after three sucks, I prefer tick-tock. Maybe you should get tick-tock." He was really getting on my nerves.
I can honestly say I prefer the high school, Seth. He wasn't this annoying in fact he wouldn't have given me a second look.
I turned and looked into his green eyes. "You're intent on annoying me, aren't you?"
He shrugged, "Well after seeing you three time since the week started I think I deserve your number."
"Why do you want my number?"
"What do people do with other numbers?" answering my question with his own, annoyed me. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Give me one reason why I should give you my number." I lifted my pointing finger up.
"We're both single people who sometimes have nothing to do at home. We can hang out."
"Why would you want to hang out with me?"
He shrugs his shoulder and smirk. "Why not?"
I raised my brows at him. "Okay, I'll give you my number, but we can only be friends."
He smiled, "That's all I want to be," he hands his iPhone over to me. "At least for now." Ignoring his last statement, I add my number to his phone. At first, I was going to add a false number, but I decided not to. Seth was right, I need a little company at times.
What harm could giving him my number cause?
After adding food to Rojo's plate. I went and sat in my sofa. As I reach for the Oliver Case file, my phone beeped on the same table next to the sofa. Instead reaching for the files, I took up my phone.
Are you home safe?
I rolled my eyes at Seth's text message. I looked at the phone considering if I should answer it.
Yes. I reply. Are you?
I don't know why I asked but it seemed like the right thing to do. I would want someone to ask me that after I'd ask them so why not?
Within seconds he replied, I am home. I'm feeding my cat.
I didn't expect that. I quickly replied with the shocked emoji.
You have a cat?
I had no idea Seth was the animal type of guy, especially the cat kind of guy. 'A man with a cat is said to be the most caring of men', said a magazine the other day.
Maybe he's not that bad after all.
Yea, her name is Butter.
Awe that's sweet. I responded.
Yea, she's one sweetie pie. Maybe one day you'll meet her.
Rolling my eye, I typed.
Yeah, Maybe. Anyways, I have tons of work to do so later. Enjoy the rest of your night.
I smiled when I saw his response. Don't work too much. Goodnight hun.
Seth Freaking Parker is something else, five feet eleven inches tall, with green eyes and great muscles... he is finneeee...
But I won't get into that, there was no way I'm going to let Iris push me in a relationship that I didn't want. I am perfectly happy being single with my dog and her puppies. I don't need Seth Parker to make me feel good about myself.
I reached over for the Oliver files. There was so much to be done in this case and I didn't even know where to begin. Kevin Oliver has committed fraud and conspiracy and his trial was set. The old man didn't want to settle for the ten years they were giving him, and he has been working the hell out of me to try and get it down to five. I can recall his exact words.
"Do you know what they do to men like me in Black Gate Prison?" I shake my head at the man who was in his mid-forties. I knew exactly what they did to men at Black Gate but there is always a price to be paid for the crime.
"Well, let me tell you." He stood from his chair to gesture. He bent over my desk, his expensive suit bushing against my files and his hair falling in his face. He touched his bottom. "They bend us over and put their dicks in our behind." He stands up and then took back his seat. "I can't let that happen to me. You can't let that happen to me."
I nod my head. There were millions in the world starving worrying about what they will eat tonight yet this man who happens to be a millionaire was worried about getting raped by a man.
"If you get me out of this, let them reduce my sentence I promise you, you'll get the world but if you don't this will be the end of your world." I nod my head at him. It wasn't the first time one of my clients threaten me, and it wasn't going to be the last.
