"Twins are extremely rare among the Wolf Clan." Mira said with surprise, "This is another manifestation of the Laurel's blessing."
The news quickly spread throughout the Grayson territory, and everyone was overjoyed by this good news. However, Lyra felt a trace of unease in her heart, as the Laurel messenger's warning kept echoing in her mind: "When the silver moon becomes full again, when new life arrives, the wheel of fate will turn once more..."
"What are you worried about?" One night, Rayne gently caressed her slightly swollen belly and asked.
Lyra sighed: "The prophecy of the Laurel messenger. I fear that when the child is born, that 'price' will come due."
Rayne pulled her into his embrace: "Whatever happens, we'll face it together. Remember, we've already conquered death once."
Lyra leaned against his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat: "I just don't want to lose this hard-earned happiness."
"No, I won't." Rayne said firmly, "I swear to protect you and our children, no matter what the cost."
As the months progressed, Lyra's Silver Fern power grew stronger. She could feel the energy of the two little lives in her womb, one filled with the wild power of the Wolf Clan, the other containing the mysterious energy of the Silver Fern. This pair of twins would inherit the strongest bloodlines from both parents.
One night six months later, Lyra woke up startled from her dream. Outside the window, a silver full moon hung high in the sky, larger and brighter than an ordinary full moon, emanating a mysterious silver light.
"The Silver Moon..." Lyra whispered, suddenly feeling a sharp pain.
"Rayne!" she cried out, "The children... they're coming!"
Rayne immediately jumped out of bed: "But it's not time yet!"
"It's the Silver Moon..." Lyra said, gritting her teeth against the pain, "The prophecy of the Laurel Messenger... when the Silver Moon is full again, new life will arrive..."
Mira quickly arrived, bringing several midwives. The delivery process was exceptionally difficult, as Lyra felt a pain beyond physical suffering, as if something was trying to drain her life force.
"Hang in there, Lyra!" Mira said anxiously, "The children's energy is too powerful, they're absorbing your life force!"
Rayne gripped Lyra's hand tightly, trying to share her pain through their soul connection. But this time, the connection seemed to be blocked by some kind of force.
"This is the price..." Lyra said weakly, "Fate is reclaiming my chance at rebirth..."
"No!" Rayne said firmly, "I won't let you leave. We've changed fate once, we can do it again!"
He closed his eyes, concentrating all his mental power, trying to break through that barrier. Meanwhile, Lyra was also struggling to stay conscious, preserving her last remaining strength for the children about to be born.
Outside the window, the silver moon's light suddenly became more intense, a beam of silver light shot directly into the room, enveloping Lyra's body.
"The power of the lunar laurel!" Mira exclaimed, "It's helping us!"
With the help of this light, the first child was born smoothly—a boy, with Rayne's blue eyes and Lyra's silver hair. Soon after, the second child was also born—a girl, with Lyra's green eyes and Rayne's black hair.
However, after the twins were safely born, Lyra felt a powerful force pulling her soul away from her body.
"Rayne..." she called weakly, "I feel like I'm leaving..."
Rayne gripped her hand tightly, a resolute light flashing in his eyes: "No, Lyra, hold on. I won't lose you again!"
