Chapter 26: Memory Labyrinth

"What is this place?" Lyra asked, looking around in surprise.
Rayne was equally confused: "I think this is Laurel's test. It's testing our soul connection."
They walked forward carefully, feeling intense emotional waves with each memory they passed. Lyra saw scenes from the Training Camp in her previous life, saw the lies Irene told her about Rayne wanting to kill her, saw herself fleeing desperately through the forest.
"These are all tampered memories," Lyra said painfully. "Karen and Irene made me believe you had betrayed me."
Rayne gently embraced her: "That wasn't true. Look, this is the truth."
He pointed to another wall, which displayed the scene of Rayne frantically searching after discovering Lyra's disappearance, finding the dying Lyra in the forest, and desperately forming a Blood Covenant with her using his own blood, hoping to save her life.
"We were deceived." Tears glistened in Lyra's eyes. "If I had believed you then..."
"Don't blame yourself." Rayne wiped away her tears. "We have a second chance now."
Suddenly, the labyrinth began to shake, and the memories on the walls became distorted. The power of the Dark Moon Stone struck again, stronger than before.
"Karen must have discovered we took the third path," Lyra said through gritted teeth. "He's trying to interfere with the laurel's trial."
Rayne gripped her hand tightly: "We must continue moving forward. The laurel core is at the center of the labyrinth."
They quickened their pace, passing through one memory fragment after another. As they went deeper, the interference from the Dark Moon Stone grew stronger, and Lyra felt her consciousness beginning to blur, her memories becoming chaotic once again.
"Rayne... I can't tell what's real anymore..." she said painfully.
Rayne suddenly stopped, turning to face her: "Then let's create new memories, ones that belong to both of us, memories that cannot be tampered with."
He gazed deeply into Lyra's eyes, then knelt on one knee: "Lyra Sterling, in this maze made of memories, I promise you, regardless of past or present lives, no matter how fate arranges things, my heart belongs only to you. Will you become my true companion, no longer bound by contract, but by a choice made from the heart?"
Lyra felt a warm power surging from deep within her heart, dispelling the influence of the Dark Moon Stone. She nodded with tears in her eyes: "I will, Rayne. No matter what happens, I choose to believe in you, to love you."
The moment these words were spoken, a dazzling silver light suddenly bloomed within the maze. The walls of memory began to dissolve, and a bright path appeared before them, leading directly to the center of the maze.
"We did it!" Lyra exclaimed with joy, "The laurel has accepted our soul connection!"
Rayne stood up, tightly holding her hand: "Let's go and witness the turning point of our destiny."
They advanced along the silver path, hearts filled with hope. However, just as they were about to reach the center of the maze, a dark shadow suddenly appeared before them, blocking their way.
"Did you think you could escape my plans so easily?" Karen's voice came from the shadow, "Today, none of you will leave Moon Shadow Valley alive!"
