"Who are we going to meet?" Lyra asked curiously.
Rayne's expression turned solemn: "The guardian of the Greyson Family, Aldrich. He is the last person to witness the miracle of Moon Shadow Valley with his own eyes."
"Miracle?"
"A hundred years ago, the moonlaurel manifested and bestowed unparalleled power upon a pair of true soulmates," Rayne explained, "Since then, no one has been able to receive the full blessing of the moonlaurel."
They arrived at a hidden cave, its entrance cleverly concealed by vines and shrubs. Rayne gently pushed aside the plants, revealing a narrow passage.
"Aldrich?" Rayne's voice echoed in the cave, "I've brought my Luna."
A hoarse laugh came from inside the cave: "Finally here, young Alpha. I've been waiting for this day for a long time."
An elderly man with white hair emerged from the depths of the cave, his eyes an unusual silver color, as if they could see through one's heart.
"Hello, Reborn One." The old man stared directly at Lyra, shocking her deeply, "Yes, I can see the mark on your soul. The traces of death and rebirth cannot be hidden."
Lyra looked at Rayne in surprise, who was equally shocked: "You didn't tell him?"
Rayne shook his head: "No."
Aldrich smiled: "Some things can be known without words. The servants of the Laurel can see what ordinary people cannot." He turned to Lyra, "You have returned through rebirth to change fate. But fate is not easily changed, unless..."
"Unless what?" Lyra asked eagerly.
"Unless you complete a true soul connection," the old man said mysteriously. "The trial in Moon Shadow Valley will be your only chance. But be careful, dark forces are also seeking the power of the Laurel."
Rayne frowned: "Karen wants the power of the Laurel?"
Aldrich nodded: "He has studied ancient forbidden arts, seeking to twist the laurel's blessing for his own use. If he succeeds, not only will you die, but the entire balance of the Wolf Clan will be shattered."
Lyra felt a chill: "How can we stop him?"
The old man took down an ancient map from the wall: "Moon Shadow Valley has three paths. The main path is mandatory for all trial participants; the second is a hidden shortcut that Karen already knows about; the third..." he pointed to an almost invisible mark on the map, "can only be found by true soulmates. It leads to the core of the laurel."
Rayne took the map: "How do we find the third path?"
"When moonlight shines upon the valley, look for the Silver Fern's guidance," Aldrich said mysteriously. "But remember, only companions whose hearts are connected and souls resonate can see this path. You must trust each other completely, without any reservations."
Lyra and Rayne exchanged glances, both understanding what this meant. There were still secrets and doubts between them, which must be completely resolved before the trial.
As they were leaving the cave, Aldrich's voice came from behind: "Reborn one, fate has given you a second chance, not just for revenge, but for redemption. Remember this."
Lyra looked back, but the old man had already disappeared into the shadows of the cave, leaving only his words echoing in her heart.
