"Eileen admitted everything," Lyra said calmly, but with determination flickering in her eyes, "She and Karen did indeed conspire together to orchestrate the tragedy in my past life."
Rayne frowned in confusion: "Past life?"
Lyra realized she had let something slip, took a deep breath, and decided to be honest: "Rayne, there's something I must tell you. It will sound crazy, but please believe me."
She brought Rayne to the study and, making sure no one was eavesdropping, revealed the truth about her rebirth. Rayne listened in shock, but there was no doubt in his eyes, only gradually deepening understanding.
"This explains why you've been different since the day of the wedding." Rayne said softly, "Your eyes, your behavior...you're no longer that timid girl I met at the Training Camp."
Lyra nodded: "I was reborn to seek revenge. I thought...you were the one who betrayed me."
Rayne closed his eyes in pain: "But in reality, I tried to save you."
"Yes. Mira told me." Lyra gently touched the scar on his wrist, "This is what you got trying to save me, isn't it?"
Rayne held her hand: "I swore to protect you, but I failed."
Lyra shook her head: "No, you didn't. Your Blood Covenant oath gave me a chance to start over."
A glimmer of hope flashed in Rayne's eyes: "Then this time, we can face it together. What else did Erin say?"
"She mentioned the trial at Moon Shadow Valley." Lyra recalled, "She said Karen plans to eliminate us there."
Rayne's expression became solemn: "The Moon Shadow Valley Trial is the Wolf Clan's most sacred ritual, held once every decade. All Alphas and Lunas must participate and undergo the test of the Moonlaurel."
"Moonlaurel?"
"An ancient power that can see through souls and reveal truths," Rayne explained. "Legend has it that only true soulmates can receive the blessing of the Moonlaurel in Moon Shadow Valley."
Lyra pondered thoughtfully: "So Karen plans to make his move against us during the trial."
Rayne nodded: "What he doesn't know is that we already have the Blood Covenant oath. If the Moonlaurel acknowledges our soul connection..."
"We will become more powerful," Lyra finished his sentence, determination flickering in her eyes. "This time, we won't repeat past mistakes."
Rayne pulled her into his embrace: "We need to be prepared. Karen and Eileen won't give up easily."
Lyra nestled against his chest, listening to his strong heartbeat: "We have one month left. We need to uncover their specific plans."
Outside the window, a raven perched on the windowsill, its red eyes flickering with ominous light. It spread its wings and flew into the distance, as if carrying some kind of message.
Lyra and Rayne didn't notice this tiny scout, but the gears of fate had already begun to turn. The trial of Moon Shadow Valley would determine everything, and their opponents had already started to lay their plans.
