Chapter 27: So creepy

"I love you, Luis", I giggled, trying to flap my eye lashes at him.

He turned his head to glare at me but it was short lived when he wrapped an arm around my neck and pulled me close.

"I love you too, but you're still an asshole." He kissed the top of my head before letting me go.

"Fair enough,"  I replied still swallowing back my giggles.

When the plane finally landed, Luis and I booked it to the luggage bay before running to the parking garage to get out of here. I was dying for a hot shower and a goodnight sleep in my own bed before heading in to meet my new boss tomorrow morning.

But when Luis drove away from the airport, I was instantly irritated that he took the wrong freeway.

"Luis," where the hell are we going now. I'm exhausted?"

"Babe I know you are but we have to make a tiny appearance at the boss's house. He's having some kind of mixer and is being too impatient from our weekend results. I promise we won't be long."

Groaning, I slumped back into the seat and tried really hard not to make a scene. When I'm hungry or tired, I can get really pissy. And nobody wants to see that side of me. Even I hate her.

Luis finally pulled off the freeway and drove into a gated community. Every house along the street was a small mansion. Where the hell are we?! This was the type of neighborhood where stepford wives lived and gardeners and pool boys made a killing. Silver spoon, anyone?

"Noah is a super cool guy, but don't say anything sarcastic to him. He hates it," Luis noted as he pulled into the driveway of the largest home on the block.

"So, in other words, don't say a thing? Got it," I mimicked zipping my mouth shut, winking over at him.

"That right there. Don't do that?"

I laughed, knowing that I couldn't help it. People without a sense of humor drove me crazy. How can anyone go through life without silly jokes and laughing about it? Give me a break.

Luis quickly got out and I followed right behind him. I had a feeling a lot of my co workers would be here tonight and I wasn't exactly ready to meet them under these circumstances. I've had an extremely long weekend with little sleep and I'm sure it was evident.

All the vehicles in the driveway were out of my price range, BMW's, Audi's, Mercedes Benz, and even Lamborghini were lining the brick drive. If these way, infact, my co workers inside, I have a bone to pick with my new boss Mr Noah, poor Luis drives an old Honda Civic that has definitely seen better days and I can't  even afford my own place yet. One look at his house and the vehicles tell me that I'm probably not going to like this pompous prick.

"Luis!" The door whipped open and a very looking guy not too much older than me and Luis stood there grinning from ear to ear.

Man, am I glad I kept my thoughts to myself or my new boss would know what I thought about him.

"Noah, my man!", Luis cheered, going in for one of those half shakes, half hug things that guys do.

What made this humorous was hearing Luis change his tone of his voice. It was as if he wanted to portray a different version of himself to our boss. I guess that explains why I can't be my fabulous sarcastic self.

The guy's eyes turned to me before they slid over me, a grin spreading wider on his face.

"You must be my new photographer "

Plastering on a fake smile, I nodded at him. "Lynn." I stuck my hand out and he definitely took it. I just didn't expect him to nearly make out with it when he brought my hand up to kiss it. What the hell, man?

"It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Luis says nothing but good things about you. Video interviews did nothing to show how beautiful you are, though." He still had my hand in his as he spun me in a circle. What? Am I on fucking display for you?

"Uh, thanks?" It was definitely a question. The guy was making me feel extremely uncomfortable and I wanted to smack Luis for not warning  me about the creep who was my new boss.

"Come in!" There's a ton of food and an open bar, Luis," He stated, finally releasing my hand to grab Luis's shoulder, "let's head into my office. I want to see what you got on that diva in Ibiza."

Wait! They are going to leave me alone? Doesn't he want to see the pictures that I took of the said diva? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like they're about to totally ditch out on me.

"Lynn, can you grab me a drink?", Luis kissed my cheek before slipping past me into the house, slowly disappearing with Noah.

I felt completely awkward standing all here alone and figured I was a big girl and could mingle with strangers without my sidekick nearby, right?

Except all eyes were on me now and it just made me feel more panicked. The song changed from an upbeat jazz tune to the song Roses by SAINt JHN and the party seemed to liven up a bit. They finally stopped looking at me and I made my way over to the open bar, ordering Luis his favorite drink: Appletini.

The door Noah and Luis disappeared into was closed now and I had a hell of a time trying to open it with a drink in each of my hands. But I did it. Their voices drifted through the room but I couldn't see them.

"So, what's Lynn's story?" I heard Noah ask, causing me to stop dead in my tracks. I know I probably shouldn't be eavesdropping right now but who wouldn't when their name is dropped.
