Chapter 10

And that girl was none other than me, Kaylee Johnson.
Andrew continued to sit there without moving, but the glass that he had been holding in his hand suddenly shattered.
Sienna screamed in horror. "Blood! Andrew, you're bleeding!"
"Get lost."
"Andrew?"
"I'm telling you to get lost! Can't you understand simple words?"
Andrew suddenly leapt to his feet and flung whatever was left of the glass that was still in his hands onto the ground.
Sienna stood dazed for a while before breaking out into a loud wail and running out.
Everyone else in the private room also tactfully headed out.
Andrew's hand was hanging by his side. Blood was dripping down slowly, but he did not feel any pain.
All he could do was glare at Spencer.
After a long while, he finally lifted a finger and pointed at me.
"Spencer, aren't you going to explain?"
My hand, which was semi-hidden inside my sleeve, was gripped even more tightly by Spencer. His fingers were warm and powerful, and they imbued me with a sense of indescribable peace.
"Explain what?"
"Why is Kaylee here with you?"
"You invited me to bring my girlfriend to your birthday party, remember?"
Spencer tugged on my hand and drew me into him, then put his arm around me.
It was as if Andrew had suddenly morphed into an enraged beast. With his still-bleeding hand, he grabbed another glass in front of him and smashed it onto the ground.
"Spencer! Don't you know that Kaylee is mine?"
"Your what? Your girlfriend or your fiancée?"
Spencer pressed on. "Or as long as a girl has had feelings for you, then they'll be branded as yours and belong only to you?"
Andrew's eyes were so bloodshot they looked like they were bleeding too.
"You know Kaylee likes me, and you still want to steal from me?"
"Andrew, he didn't steal anything."
I squeezed Spencer's hand before looking back at Andrew.
"I was the one who took the initiative. Also, I don't like you. In fact, I haven't had feelings for you for a long time."
As I leveled my gaze at him, I came to the realization that I had gotten over him ages ago.
After all, any girl with even an ounce of dignity would not like someone who never had any respect for them.
They would not like someone who was indifferent and arrogant, or someone who treated them as if they were at their beck and call.
Maybe, in those years when we were growing up together, there were some burgeoning feelings.
But the moment my identity was revealed, his attitude toward me completely changed. And those feelings evaporated and disappeared with the wind.
"Kaylee, what are you saying?"
It was as if Andrew had just heard the funniest joke in the world.
"You nearly jumped into the river for me, and you're saying you don't like me?"
"I never thought of jumping into the river. The only reason I went there that night was to find an excuse to have Spencer come pick me up."
Andrew suddenly froze.
He glared at me viciously, and it took him a while before he could spit the words out. "So, that night in the dorm room, the person in Spencer's bed was you?"
"That's right. It was me. Andrew, focus on your own love life. I've already told you that day, I'll never bother you again. I meant those words, and I'll never take them back."
With that, I looked away from him, grabbed hold of Spencer's hand, and turned around to leave.
"Spencer, let's go home. I want to see the new house."
Spencer, however, remained firm in his spot.
He looked at Andrew with seemingly unbothered eyes, yet they exuded an unignorable sense of fierceness.
"Andrew, I don't want to hear anyone talking badly about my girlfriend."
Andrew had slightly lost his mind by then and could no longer watch his words. "Who do you think you are, Spencer?" he spat out.
Spencer merely gave him a lazy smile. "If you're not sure of who I am, then feel free to go home and ask your father."
