Chapter 7

In the end, the surrounding students, medical staff, and even those Ella had incited to join in the accusations against me watched the scene in terror. Ella's sidekicks, who had championed Ella's lies, turned deathly pale, looking as if they wanted nothing more than to vanish into thin air.
"Oh, God… How terrifying…"
"It turns out that's what really happened—they played us all for fools!"

"Yvonne actually did all that to save Wanda."
"Ella and Mr. Jensen are inhuman! They're total beasts!"
"They're on live streams, so everyone in the country just witnessed what they did! Those two pieces of filth are absolutely done for!"
In the meantime, the online users on the live stream descended into absolute chaos, with the comment section flooded with comments.
"They're absolute scum! They deserve the worst death imaginable!"
"I was moved to tears just watching her—Yvonne was incredibly brave!"

"Mr. Lawson is so powerful! He should just finish them off!"
"They must be punished severely! They can't be let off the hook!"
Victor ordered, "Get the police on the line and notify them that there are two clear-cut cases of attempted murder here. I'm going to make sure that those two rot in prison!"
"Got it, Mr. Lawson!"

In that instant, the head of the bodyguard immediately took out his phone to contact the authorities.
Upon hearing that Victor intended for them to rot in prison, Joseph and Ella collapsed. Their gaze went vacant as the reality set in, leaving them consumed by overwhelming dread.
Victor turned his attention back to me, his expression uncharacteristically soft. "You've been through a terrible ordeal, so please let the doctors treat you while I handle the rest, Ms. Sommer. You can rest assured that I'll take good care of it."
He gestured for the nurse, who rushed over and supportively helped me to my feet with great care, to take me for treatment.
I was just passing by Joseph and Ella while they were still pinned to the floor when Joseph suddenly jerked his head up.
Those eyes, once so cold and arrogant, were now filled with nothing but pure, hateful spite. He looked at me as if he wanted to tear me apart with his gaze alone, though he would never have the chance to do that again.
It wasn't before the police arrived, and Joseph and Ella were handcuffed and taken into custody.
"You'd better let go of me this instant! I'm the drill instructor for the college! You have no right to arrest me!" Joseph continued to struggle, though his efforts were completely in vain.
Ella, on the other hand, looked as though all the strength had been sucked out of her as the police dragged her toward the exit. She jerked her head up as she walked past me, glaring at me with a look of absolute, menacing resentment.
Upon seeing those two being hauled away by the police, the ones who had served as Ella's sidekicks—those who had joined her in mocking me and providing false testimony—stood there with deathly pale complexions. They huddled in the corners, barely daring to breathe.
Victor's gaze swept slowly over the crowd, his eyes sharp and menacing.
In that instant, those few people scrambled forward on all fours to throw themselves at Victor's feet, looking utterly terrified. They were already weeping, their voices trembling with fear while they explained themselves.
"Mr. Jensen made us do it! He threatened to fail us and put a permanent mark on our records if we didn't follow his orders! We didn't have a choice—we were terrified, Mr. Lawson!"
"Exactly, Mr. Lawson! Joseph was the one who forced us to do it!"
"Ella threatened us, too, saying that she'd make our lives a living hell if we didn't back her up!"
"I know we're at fault here, too! I know we've made a horrible mistake, so please forgive us, Yvonne!"
They acted as if they had found a lifeline. They scrambled forward, their voices overlapping as they cried for mercy, frantically shifting all the blame onto Joseph and Ella, who could no longer defend themselves.
In that instant, the hallway was a cacophony of voices as people cried out their confessions and shouted accusations at one another to shift the blame, punctuated by the sharp, loud cracks of people slapping their own faces in a desperate show of remorse.
"We were fools, Yvonne! We were tricked by Ella—that bitch!"
"We're scum! We'll get on our knees and beg for your forgiveness, Yvonne!"
I looked at the crowd before me—so smug before, and now so pathetic and groveling. I wasn't moved in the slightest by their disgraceful performance.
It was then that a police officer approached and addressed Victor. "Yvonne is a primary witness and the victim in this case, so we need her to accompany us to the police station to provide us with a detailed statement, Mr. Lawson."
Victor turned to me with a questioning look, waiting for my response.
I nodded, indicating my agreement.
