"I want to see the High Sorcerer! I've been framed! The High Sorcerer can prove it!"
The High Sorcerer was the descendant of a witch who always wore a kindly smile but was venomous at his core. He was also Lucas' strategist and one of the accomplices who had nearly gotten the Kingdom wiped out back then.
In the crowd, the High Sorcerer quietly retreated, trying to slip away unnoticed.
"Leaving already?"
I leaped forward and slammed him to the ground. With a loud roar, he was forced into submission.
Looking down at him, I said coldly, "High Sorcerer, the drugs Lucas used—you were the one who concocted them, weren't you?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," he insisted, cold sweat pouring down his face. "Princess, this is all a misunderstanding…"
"A misunderstanding?"
I pulled out a talisman from inside my clothes. This was something hidden among my father's belongings. I hadn't known its purpose until my bloodline awakened and the memories returned.
It was a type of talisman designed specifically to control those who had been turned into puppets by drugs.
I recited the incantation written on it.
The next second, the two death warriors who had been guarding the High Sorcerer suddenly went crimson-eyed. They spun around and charged into the crowd, attacking indiscriminately.
The death warriors were quickly subdued by the guards.
"Tell me everything you know," I said, looking down at the High Sorcerer.
He thrashed wildly, still trying to escape.
"You're not going to talk? Then you can go straight to hell," I snarled, lifting my foot and aiming for his skull.
"I'll talk! I'll talk!" the High Sorcerer finally broke. "I concocted the drugs, but Lucas forced me to!"
"And that Rogue from five years ago… Lucas was the one who told me to buy the berserk potion from the black market and feed it to the Rogue!
"Lucas deliberately acted as if he were injured in front of you so that the Rogue could violate you!"
The entire square erupted in shock.
Those werewolves who had once scorned me for being "defiled" and accused me of "seducing a Rogue" now all stood with mouths agape in shock.
"And there's more!"
The High Sorcerer was spilling everything now, desperate to save his life.
"Over the past few years, Lucas has been secretly selling the pups to vampires in exchange for ingredients for the forbidden drugs! It was all his idea!"
The moment those words fell, several she-wolves who had lost their pups instantly went mad.
"It was you? You sold my pup?"
They broke through the guards' blockade and lunged at the High Sorcerer. I didn't even need to lift a finger.
The screaming only lasted seconds as the enraged she-wolves tore him into pieces.
Blood soaked the square, but no one stopped them.
Then, the she-wolves turned their bloodshot eyes toward Lucas. But out of lingering fear, they didn't dare advance.
I gave them a slight nod, signaling that they would get their justice.
"Elders."
I turned to face the council.
"This is the Alpha King you chose?"
The Grand Elder lowered his head in shame, then dropped to one knee.
"Princess Elena, we were blind. Please take the throne and restore the Silvermoon Kingdom!"
"Please take the throne, Princess!"
Thousands of werewolves shouted in unison, the sound shaking the night sky.
…
Later that night, I headed to the water dungeon. The place was cold and damp, the air thick with the stench of mold.
Lucas hung suspended over the center of the pool, iron chains driven straight through his body.
Hearing footsteps, he lifted his head with great effort. When he saw it was me, an eerie glint flashed through his ashen eyes.
"Do you really think you've won, Elena?"
He was actually laughing.
I stood at the edge of the pool, looking at the werewolf who had once stood above everyone else.
"Any last words?"
"I've got leverage on your father," he said with a grin, spitting out a mouthful of blood. "Do you know why your father really crippled his leg back then? Do you really believe it was to save the Kingdom?"
"No!" His voice suddenly rose sharply. "It was because he colluded with outsiders! Your mother was never human, and you're not a half-wolf either!"
"All that Original Werewolf bloodline nonsense is a lie! According to ancestral law, mixed-breed abominations should be executed!
"I know where that old bastard hid your mother's keepsake.
"If I let that information slip, the blood-purist Grand Elder will be the first to destroy you!"
