Chapter 10

That answer reassured me, and my panic melted away. While waiting for the test results, I inadvertently spotted a familiar figure in the corridor.
It was Harry, who didn't look as radiant as before. His brows were tightly knitted, his face heavy with worry.
Clinging to his arm was another rich heiress. This was supposedly his latest attempt to produce an heir and claw back power from Emilio.
Seeing me, he called out, "Julia?"
He dropped the woman's hand and hurried toward me, but Emilio turned and planted himself firmly between us.
Harry didn't give up. "Julia, what's wrong? Why are you here at the hospital?"
Before I could answer, a nurse arrived, handing me the test results. "Congratulations, you're pregnant! Three months along, and the baby is perfectly healthy."
Harry's eyes nearly popped out of his head. "Pregnant? Julia, are you pregnant? That's impossible. We were together seven years, and you never once got pregnant."
Emilio pulled me behind him, his voice distant, almost cold. "She's carrying my child. It has nothing to do with you."
The woman stormed up to Harry and shrieked, "You kept swearing the problem was mine! Then why did your ex-girlfriend get pregnant after switching boyfriends? We've been together almost two years, and nothing's happened!"
"Two years?" I laughed bitterly.
Harry really was the undisputed master of time management.
I reached for Emilio's hand and laced our fingers together. "Harry, go get yourself checked properly this time. And while you're at it, have them take a look at your brain too."
I turned and walked out, pulling Emilio with me.
At the exit, Emilio hesitated. "Um, if you want to terminate it, don't we need to book the procedure?"
I stopped and raised an eyebrow. "Who said anything about terminating? Hurry up and plan the wedding. You're marrying me."
His eyes lit up, and he broke into a big smile. "You'll marry me. Say it again, please."
He dropped to one knee, pulling a diamond ring from his suit pocket. It was larger and more dazzling than the one I'd worn before.
The ring seemed to have been hidden in his clothes forever, just waiting for this moment. I didn't hide my feelings anymore.
"Yes!" I said, loud enough for the whole world to hear.
Harry did not come to the wedding. The same day I got my pregnancy results, he finally went for the test he had always avoided.
The result showed he was infertile. He would never be able to have children.
Chad stripped him of every title, every share, every ounce of power. Harry spiraled, spending his days in indulgence and reckless pleasures until he contracted an STD too shameful for the Nolan name.
To protect the family's reputation, he was quietly sent away to a remote sanatorium.
I stood in my grand wedding dress, waiting for the doors to open and the ceremony to begin, when my phone suddenly buzzed.
I looked down and saw a text message from an unknown number. I knew it was Harry.
It read: [Julia, I wish you happiness.]
I didn't reply because I already had it.
The End
