In my coma,Sarah's memories came to my dream again.
She and Ethan were childhood sweethearts.
Ethan always played the grown-up,protecting her.

But at the age of 18,her mother had an affair with Ethan's father.
Ethan's mother,unable to cope,slit her own wrists.
Ethan, clutching a college acceptance letter in hand to share with her, found only her body, blood pooling in the bathtub.
From then on,he felt nothing but hatred towards Sarah's mother—and Sarah.
He relentlessly targeted them.
Though Sarah was innocent,he led the school in bullying and slandering her.

That's when she developed severe depression and overdosed.
Later,I arrived in her body, clinging to life, staying by Ethan's side.
Jolting awake,I ignored my IV,sitting up to ask the system about yesterday.
"Host, congratulations. You've collected the male lead's tear of joy."

"Thank you...thank you..."
I sobbed in excitement, clutching the sheets tight.
At home,I opened the door to men's shirts, women's heels, and stockings scattered at the entrance.
The sofa was a mess too.
Clothing scrapsled me to the bedroom.
I didn't dare open the door or imagine the scene inside.
I just sat silently on the sofa, waiting.
I didn't want to see Ethan,with Julian's face,doing things that sickened me.
After a long wait,Ethan emerged, sated, neck marked with hickeys.
Seeing me,he wasn't surprised at all.
Every time he cast me out,I crawled back to him like a dog following a scent.
"Meet me this afternoon."
"Okay."
Ethan grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge, glancing at me as if to about say something.
Hearing my compliant reply,he frowned and said nothing.
The woman exiting the bedroom however, stunned me—Mia Harper, the female lead.
Why were they hooked up so soon?
Before I could think,Mia shot me a disdainful look and left.
At the cemetery,I realized that today was the anniversary of Ethan's mother's death.
Ethan placed flowers by the tombstone, wiping the dust on it with a silk cloth.
But rain began to fall, his efforts were in vain.
I stood silently behind him,my gaze on the tombstone tinged with pity.
A woman trapped by love could never find redemption.
Seeing my look,Ethan curled his lips to a sneer.
"Know what your mom said to mine?"
Painful memories surged. He punched the ground, knuckles bleeding.
"She called my mom...a useless woman who couldn't keep her man!"
His bloodshot eyes terrified me.I took a few steps back back.
My retreat provoked him.
He grabbed my arm, forcing me to kneel.
Choking me,his venomous words shook me.
"Didn't you say you'd stay to atone for your mom?Kneel here until she's satisfied!"
He gripped my hair and smashed my head against the tombstone.
Blood poured out,but he didn't stop.
The mixture of blood and rain streaked the stone, stark against the dark earth.
"Ethan...I'm sorry..."
I could only repeat those weak words.
I'd said sorry to Ethan countless times, but was I really the one who owed him?
