Time has changed our appearances, but it can't change our hearts that dislike each other.
Early the next morning,I was woken up by the sound of the door being kicked open.
My mother stood at the door, looking as weak as she could be,dragging her tired body. For a moment,I thought the noise was the thunder in my dream.
"Get up and cook quickly,"my mother said impatiently, and then turned around and muttered,"Sleeping like a dead pig."
I ordered takeout, only choosing the things they usually couldn't afford to eat.
There were continuous knocks on the door.Beef, mutton, seafood, and so on.In a blink of an eye,the table was piled high with food.
To make those who couldn't stand seeing me live a good life feel uncomfortable, all I needed to do was to make her jealous.
My elder sister slowly got up from the sofa,"Oh,a full banquet! You have money to order takeout but don't know how to be filial to your parents."
"Give the money to my parents and then let it be spent on you guys?"I became particularly fond of using a rhetorical tone since I came back to this home.
"Don't wrong me.I haven't spent my parents'money. My parents'money was all given to my younger sister. If you have the guts,go talk to her,"she said with a strong sense of dissatisfaction and complaint.
My younger sister lived quite close here too and was used to coming back just in time to mooch off the meal.
When she saw the food on the table, she didn't even greet anyone and started gobbling it up.
My elder sister crossed her arms, swallowed her saliva, and continued to pick on me,"We were just talking about you.Mom and Dad's demolition compensation money was all given to you, right?Don't let some people always keep an eye on me."
My younger sister wiped the oil off her mouth with her sleeve and then noticed that I was also there.
My mother came out of the room and happened to hear what my elder sister said.
She started shouting at me,"Money, money, money. It's all about money all day long.No wonder you were so kind to pick me up from the hospital and pay my hospitalization fee.So you had your eyes on the demolition compensation money."
In the face of my mother's accusation,I didn't explain, nor did I bother to explain.
After all,it wasn't the first or second time that I had been wronged and misinterpreted.
My mother used to always say that all three of us sisters could stay at home if we wanted to,and she would never be partial.
After my elder sister got married,my mother began to subtly persuade me to get married and move out.
Once, she specifically called to cry about how unfilial my aunt was to her parents. It was my mother who paid for my grandparents'hospitalization expenses.
I couldn't help but say,"Didn't you all agree? The fields and houses of my grandparents were all given to our family,so the main responsibility must be on our family, right?"
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone.I knew I had said the wrong thing again.
"Then do you mean that a married daughter doesn't need to take care of her parents? And that the kindness of her parents raising her doesn't need to be repaid?"
I didn't want to argue with her,so I casually talked about something else to try to change the subject.
My mother wouldn't let it go,"I'm asking you. From what you said,it seems that in the future, you will be like your aunt and shift all the responsibility to your elder sister?"
"Do you want me to stay at home?"I asked seriously.
There was another silence.
"What's so good about staying at home?Your elder sister is as pitiful as me.We all thought we had taken a big advantage. It's much better to get married and move out.We gave you a house. In the future, your in-laws will also buy you a house,so you can get two houses,"she said.
"Weren't we each given a house?Did you only give one to me?"
I knew that my mother thought I didn't know that our family had bought a commercial store, and it was also registered under my elder sister's name.
"Back then, you said that my grandparents were difficult to get along with, and you also know about the relationship between a daughter-in-law and her mother-in-law.I've never seen a mother say to her daughter that it's better to get married and move out.I've never said that I won't be filial to you in the future. Why are you in such a hurry to drive me out?"
"When did I want to drive you out? You're just too scheming.Your elder sister is willing to sacrifice herself and stay at home.Just consider her as our son.
If I don't give it to her,who else should I give it to?"
I took a deep breath and said helplessly,"Fine. Then consider my elder sister as the son.
You give all the remaining things to her,and in the future, she will take the main responsibility for supporting you,and I'll take the secondary one, okay?Until now, that house hasn't been registered in my name, and you've been collecting the rent.
If you don't want to give it to me anymore, you can take it back at any time.
If you're afraid that others will say you're unfair, just write a written agreement to make it clear.
I got a house from you,and what are my responsibilities!"
My mother didn't want to talk to me anymore and directly hung up the phone.I couldn't help but shed tears.I didn't expect that there was something even more shocking to come.
She secretly cried to my father and relatives that I wanted her to write a written agreement, that in the future, they must give me a house, and that I had no obligation to support them after I got married and moved out.
The relatives talked about me behind my back, saying that I didn't use my knowledge in the right way and that I was full of tricks.
I also heard her showing off her foresight to others.Just by using the matter of my aunt to warn me a little,I showed my true colors.
