His name was Lucas Carter.
Same surname as my scumbag ex—bad omen.
I wanted to say,"Your last name's Carter,like my jerk ex,so I can't take responsibility."
But that wouldn't work.
So,Lucas, who was six years younger than me, ended up moving in with me.
"Babe, what's for breakfast?Bagels and coffee,or pancakes and oatmeal?"
Lucas's breath tickled my ear.
Half-asleep,I mumbled,"Wanna eat you."
With a tug,I was in his arms.
"Your mouth's full of lies.Every time I feed you,you cry and say no."
"After only one night of sleep, and you're hungry again?"His breath grazed my neck, ticklish.
My dumb mouth always outran my brain.
“I shouldn’t have—I never should have let him into my bed again thinking, ‘If I’m going to sleep with him once, I might as well do it a hundred times.’”
My original plan was to rent him a place, give him some cash, and let him study hard when school started.
And I would return to my carefree, single life.
He never mentioned he was a soon-to-graduate college student who just had to stay home and finish his dissertation.Pure, innocent Victoria Evans thus began a shameless life with her “pup”.
"Stop it,I'm not awake.My back's sore.I need more sleep."I turned away,closing my eyes.
Warmth spread across my waist—Lucas massaged me gently.
I nearly moaned in comfort.
"Sleep another half-hour,then get up and have some oatmeal.Don't go to work hungry."
I never asked about Lucas's family.
My guess was that they weren't well-off,maybe Lucas had a younger brother or sister, which would explain his thoughtfulness with me.
If he were older,I'd bet on him and marry him now. With that thought,I dozed off.
When I shared this with Nora, she looked at me like I was hopeless.
"Victoria Evans, are you nuts?Everyone else who date online’s still at school, but you're already working. If everyone else’s crush when meeting in person, yours will crash even before."
"Finally grown, mature, ready for love, and who do you pick? The rival company's CEO,fooling you for three years."
I mumbled,"Didn't I get a big sum from breaking up?"
I love two things:money and looks.Looks left,money came—I wasn't that sad.
Plus, didn't I use the cash to snag a young stud?Way better stamina than James.
"Three million's a fortune to you,but to James Carter,it's just some pocket change he’d toss out a random beggar. For three years you called it true love and didn't care about money, didn't even get a bag.Now you're crying and laughing over three million."
"You think you're clever, sleeping with a young guy,and now he's glued to you.And you're dreaming of marrying him soon? Are you nuts?"
Nora's scolding left me speechless.
"I'm wrong, okay?I take back my crazy fantasies."
Nora gulped her drink angrily, she felt thirsty after all that scolding.
"Victoria, you and the pup?No chance. If you just wanna fling, treat him like you pay him to do his ‘job’.Don't get attached."
I nodded,agreeing.
