Naturally,my cousin didn't argue with my mother and just nodded in agreement.
The more my mother cursed, the more aggressive she became, and she started to make veiled insults. "Some people don't deserve to be mothers. Look how much the baby is crying, but she doesn't even bother to look at him. What's the point of having her around?"
Unexpectedly, Emily rushed into the kitchen and came out with a knife. "You old hag, what are you babbling about? If it weren't for you making me eat those things, would the child be like this? You even made me have my uterus removed. During my confinement, all you gave me to eat was pumpkin. You're the one who is responsible for all of this. If you dare say another word, I'll stab you first and then join you in death!"

My cousin said that the hatred in my sister-in-law's eyes was very real.At that moment, everyone believed that she really would kill the whole family.
My mother was became scared and took the baby back to the room.
Listening to my cousin's description,I guessed that my sister-in-law was probably suffering from severe postpartum depression. If it wasn't intervened in time, the consequences would be unimaginable.
But now,no one really cared about her,and no one paid attention to whether she was really sick or not.
Since moving out of that house, my life had been much calmer. I finally realized how wonderful it was to focus all my energy on myself.
Just then, my company had newly developed a project abroad and needed someone to take a two-year assignment. Since all business would have to start from scratch with harsh conditions, but if I took this opportunity, my career could leve take a big step forward.

Without hesitation, I volunteered to participate. In my previous life, I was trapped by the so-called false family affection and gave up too many opportunities to improve myself. In this life, I just wanted to live for myself.
The day before I was about to leave, the police suddenly called me to the hospital.
In the hospital bed,I saw my mother, covered in blood and with tubes all over her body.
The police told me that my nephew was sick again and was crying uncontrollably at home. Unable to soothe him, my mother had threw a fit at my sister-in-law.

Unexpectedly, Emily went mad, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her son in the chest. The baby fell silent on the spot. She grinned at my mother, "Look, he's not crying now."
My mother was so frightened that she desperately cursed at Emily. She called Emily a lunatic, a beast for killing her own son.
So, my sister-in-law pulled out the knife and stabbed my mother in the stomach.
My mother saw that my sister-in-law was really trying to kill her. Enduring the pain, wanting to run outside, but she had been so exhausted from taking care of her grandson these days, and with a knife wound on her body, she quickly ran out of strength. Emily caught her and dragged her back into the room and locked her in.
Instead of killing my mother directly, Emily tied her up in the room and brought her some spoiled food every day. She said that this was exactly what my mother had made her eat during her confinement.
If my mother dared to protest, she would stab my mother's leg. After being tortured for seven days, my mother was beyond recognition.
It was only when the neighbors smelled the stench of the nephew's body and called the police that my mother was rescued.
The police immediately sent my mother to the hospital, but due to excessive blood loss and severe injuries, she was still in critical condition and had not yet been out of danger.
Looking at my pale-faced mother,I felt no pleasure in my heart, only a deep sense of sadness.
She finally paid the price for what she had done to others.
According to the police's appraisal, the reason my sister-in-law suddenly went mad was that she had developed a mental illness and must be compulsorily treated in hospital.
I went to visit her in the hospital once. As soon as she saw me, she smiled. The nurse told me it was the first time she had smiled since many days ago.
"Fiona,I remember you.You said I shouldn't eat so many cakes, and you made me a lot of delicious food. You were really good to me."
At that moment, her eyes were bright, as if she was dreaming of a certain moment in her previous life.
However, everyone has to pay the price for their actions, as the saying goes, one will reap as he has sown.
The next day, I packed my things for my journey abroad. Those events were already over, and I left them in my memory, as inspiration on my life path forward.
A week after I left, I received a call from my cousin, saying that my mother's condition had deteriorated and she had passed away despite all efforts.
I was silent on the phone for a long time. I've been expecting this outcome already since I witnessed her body was in extremely poor condition.
I entrusted my cousin to handle all my mother's funeral matters, and she readily agreed.
Hanging up the phone, I gazed into the distance where the sun was slowly rising. It was a new day beginning.
