When the truth of this case was made public, it caused quite a stir in the city where I lived. During the trial for Lily Johnson, the court took into account the fact that she was a minor and hadn’t played a major role in the crime — she was merely an accessory. In the end, she was sentenced to three years in a juvenile detention center. because of my performance during the investigation ,I was promoted to the captain of the police team.It was a major step forward in my career, with a bright future ahead.
However, just when everyone had begun to forget the case, I was still haunted by several unresolved questions. Since John Miller had already been killed by Emily Green, then who was the one who raped Lily Johnson — twice? It was clear the rape wasn’t part of their mother-daughter scheme, and Emily Green herself seemed completely unaware of it.

In addition, why had John Miller's body ended up in the sewer of his own toilet, curled up like a fetus ? And what exactly did Emily Green mean when she screamed those words at me before she died? Had she killed someone before?
Who did she mistake me for? Because if not for those bizarre events afterward , we might never have uncovered the truth. Emily Green would never have been frightened to death — and everything would have stayed hidden.
I went over these things again and again but still couldn’t make sense of it all.
Deep down, I knew — this case wasn’t really over.
But the court had passed its final judgment. The only living person involved, Lily Johnson, had already been taken into custody. If I wanted to continue the investigation, it would be nearly impossible. . And so, I kept these doubts buried in my heart.
Until a week after the court's judgment was executed, I attended a class reunion from my college days. By chance, I learned that an old friend of mine was now working as a manager in the juvenile detention center where Lily Johnson was serving her sentence. My heart stirred ,and I asked him about Lily Johnson's recent situation. After all, she was a minor whose values had not yet fully formed, and she had a mother like that. Deep down , I still sympathized with her experience.

But I never expected that this question would uncover a shocking secret. During the first week of Lily Johnson ’s sentence, a middle-aged man came to visit her. according to the police officer on duty at that time, the two seemed to have a father-daughter relationship. Since everyone knew about Lily Johnson's case, they all found it strange that a "father" suddenly appeared.
A flash of memory seemed to pass through my mind. Lily Johnson's biological father had supposedly died many years ago. So why would another father shows up now? Was everything really not over, just as I had guessed?
After the reunion, full of doubts, I reopened Lily Johnson’s case file and traveled to the small town where her parents had lived when they were young. There, I visited the local population office and inquired about her biological father’s personal information.
Sure enough, the result shocked me. Her father hadn’t died at all. He was alive and well.

Something was wrong. Very wrong .Emily Green had clearly said that Lily 's biological father was dead ,and then she left with the child .There seemed to be no reason for her to lie about something like that, right? Suddenly, the words that Emily Green had screamed before her death echoed in my mind. "You really came back. Hahaha, I killed you once — I’ll kill you again! . I'll kill you!"
Could it be that she had really killed Lily Johnson's biological father?
