"Haha,Eva,you really went all out for a man,pretending to be dead.Aren't you bored lying here?Just get up!"Iris's shrill laughter filled the air.
"Eva,get up!Stop pretending.I know you're not dead!"She pulled at my arm,trying to drag me out of the bag.
But I was dead,my body stiff and heavy,unmoving no matter how hard she pulled.
Seeing Iris's deranged behavior,Finn was consumed by anger.He rushed over and slapped her again."Are you crazy?!"
Iris was slapped to the side,a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.But she didn't care,only shouting,"I'm going to expose her true face!I'll make everyone see that she's a liar who will do anything to steal someone else's boyfriend,even if it means faking her own death!"
Finn grabbed her arm,but she struggled free and lunged at me,pinching my arm several times.
"Look,there's not a single mark on her.This is clearly a dummy she used to deceive you!"Iris said with a sick sort of excitement.
When Finn saw Iris desecrating my body like this,he was beside himself with rage.He pushed her to the ground and roared,"That's enough,Iris!You've lost your mind!"
Iris scrambled to her feet and shouted hysterically,"Finn,why won't you believe me?Eva is a liar!She's using your sympathy to deceive you!"
"Today,I'll show you whether she's lying or not!"Iris rushed to the driver's seat,grabbed the sharp knife Finn used for exploration,and lunged at me.
"Iris,stop!"Finn cried out in alarm.He tried to stop her,but it was too late.
With a crazy gleam in her eyes,Iris held the knife."Finn,watch.After I stab her a few times,you'll know if I'm telling the truth!"
The sharp tip of the knife got closer and closer to my chest.Finn desperately tried to stop Iris,but as they struggled,the knife suddenly turned and stabbed straight into Iris's chest.
Iris let out a blood-curdling scream.She looked down at the blood gushing from her chest in disbelief,then suddenly threw her head back and laughed maniacally."Haha,you killed me...You killed me with your own hands...Now you'll never forget me..."
Before she fell,she laughed wildly,"Eva,you lost.I'm the most special to Finn'..."
Finn didn't even glance at her.He kicked her into the roadside bushes.
He carefully straightened my clothes,his voice trembling."Eva,I'm taking you home..."
When we got home,Finn went into the kitchen and began to occupy himself,cooking a table full of dishes.He even poured red wine,lit candles,and arranged flowers.
Finally,he carried me to the seat opposite him and put a wine glass in my hand.
He raised his glass and looked at me tenderly."Happy third wedding anniversary,Eva.I love you."
I looked at his performance coldly,feeling no emotion at all.
Just as he was about to lean in and kiss me,the door burst open with a loud bang.A group of police officers rushed in,and ice-cold handcuffs clasped around his wrists.
"Finn,you're suspected of intentional homicide.Come with us,"the officer said.
But the smile didn't leave Finn's face.He wiped his mouth,then put more of my favorite dishes on the plate in front of me and said softly,"Eva,eat slowly.I'll be back soon."
I floated in mid-air,watching as he was taken away by the police.All I felt was a sense of satisfaction.
In prison,Finn was no longer the confident explorer.Instead,he was a disheveled and mental prisoner.
He'd smile and show off to everyone,"I have a wonderful girl.No matter what I do,she'll always wait for me at home."
Once,a fellow prisoner couldn't help asking,"Is your girl still waiting for you at home now?"
Finn froze.Then he sunk his head in his hands in pain and slammed it against the wall.Blood trickled down his forehead,staining his prison uniform.
"Eva...Eva..."He repeated my name over and over again,his voice filled with remorse and despair.
I floated above him,watching his madness with cold indifference.Here it was again,this worthless remorse.
Day after day,his became more and more deranged.Until one day,in a fit of emotional outburst,Finn slammed his head against the wall.The impact was so violent that he died on the spot.
In his last moments,he was still muttering,"Eva...I've repented my whole life...In the next life...I'll love you properly..."
I let out a cold snort and turned away.Cheaters like him would have to endure three hundred years of their souls being torn apart in the afterlife.
As for me,I was ready for a new beginning.I would no longer be bound by the past,nor would I waste any more emotions on someone who didn't deserve them.
I closed my eyes and let out a long sigh.When I opened them again,a bright light enveloped me.I felt a strange power pulling me forward,and then everything went blank.
When I regained consciousness,I found myself in a completely different place.The air was fresh,and the sun was shining brightly.There were colorful flowers and singing birds around me.
I looked down at my hands and found that I had a brand-new body,I felt refreshed and energetic.I took a deep breath and smiled.This was the start of a new life,a life without Finn,without heartbreak,and without pain.
I walked forward,ready to embrace this brand-new world.I knew that there would be countless beautiful things waiting for me in the future,and I was determined to live every moment to the fullest.
