He chopped off my hands for his first love’s failed surgery—so I destroyed him
In the fifth year of our relationship,Nathan Caldwell’s first love came back into the picture.
He believed I botched her surgery, ruining her piano career.

For that,he severed my hands.
I curled up on the floor, writhing in excruciating pain.
He didn’t care.
Instead,he turned to comfort his distraught first love.
“I swear,it wasn’t my fault!I followed every single surgical protocol. Her injury has nothing to do with me.Check the records if you don’t believe me!”
I shouted,defending myself.

Nathan’s henchmen pinned me down,my hand forced onto a table as he brandished a knife, ready to strike.
Nathan was a powerful figure in Stonehaven, a man of influence and status.
I was his mistress,a kept woman who had been by his side for five years—the longest any woman had managed to stay.
His friends used to say that he cared about me.

Then Claire Bennett,his first love,returned.
A famous pianist, she had injured a tendon during a performance.
With time of the essence, she came to the hospital where I worked for surgery.
The operation was perfectly, yet she blamed her inability to play the piano on supposed surgical complications.
She accused me of being jealousy, claiming that I had deliberately sabotaged her hand to ruin her career, making it seem fine on the surface but rendering it useless.
With just a few words,Claire convinced Nathan that I was the one at fault.
He scattered glass shards scattered on the floor.
I was forced to kneel on them.
Pain seared through me,but I pleaded,“Nathan, trust me.I’m known for my professional ethics. The surgery was perfect. Her problems with playing the piano aren’t my fault.”
Blood pooled from my knees, staining the floor red.
Unlike before,he showed no mercy, only contempt.
“Ethics?”he sneered.“You?A doctor?People only praise you to get on my good side. You think you’re something without me?”
“You expect my trust? You’re not even worthy of it.”
My desperate defense had clung to hope.
Now,that hope shattered.
To him,I was just a parasite, nothing without his support.
I’d thought he respected my career,my pride as a surgeon.
But he never had.Every accolade, every opportunity—he believed he’d bought them for me.
When I fell silent, he continued his tirade.
“People like you don’t deserve to be doctors. If your surgery wasn’t botched, how could Claire lose her ability to play? How could she become a laughingstock?”
“You say it’s not your fault? What, did Claire injured on purpose?Would she really ruin her own precious hands just to frame you?”
“Ridiculous!”
His rage reached a boiling point. He swung the knife, severing my right hand.
Pain overwhelmed me,stealing my breath.
As a surgeon,my hands were my life.
“I didn’t do it…I swear…”
Tears streamed down my face, born of sheer agony.
“Please…spare my other hand…for the years I’ve been with you…”
He scoffed.“Years? You’re nothing.Max,my dog,was with me ten years.Claire wanted his meat, and I didn’t hesitate. You’re worth less than Max.How dare you talk to me about loyalty?”
Max was Nathan’s dog.I had seen him once, and then he was gone.
He’d said he gave him away.
Claire had eaten him.
Nathan wasn’t finished. For my left hand,he sliced off each finger, one by one, before cutting it off at the wrist.
The unending pain made me feel like I was dying.
