Before going to bed,I realized that I had forgotten to close my laptop.
As I got up and was about to close it, the screen suddenly lit up.
I clearly remembered that I had shut it down.

While I was still puzzled, a video began playing on the screen.
The video was very dark.Vaguely,I could see a man holding an axe in one hand, his face close to the door.It seemed that he was looking through the peephole at something. Then he took a small step back and started ringing the doorbell.
I looked at the lower right corner of the computer screen. It was 11:55 p.m.now.
Then, every hair on my body stood on end — the doorbell was ringing.
I was in the bedroom, but the doorbell seemed to pierce through the bedroom door and keep ringing.
The man in the video was clearly growing impatient.

He rang the doorbell more and more impatiently, and the ringing outside my door gradually coincided with the ringing in the video.
The man in the video was wearing a mask and a black baseball cap,and I couldn't see his face clearly. Cold sweat slowly trickled down my forehead.
He suddenly stopped in a strange way, took out his phone from his pants pocket. It seemed that he had a call coming in.He just took a glance at it,then put the phone back in his pocket, and slowly raised the axe.
I watched in horror as he raised the axe and swung it at the door.

I trembled and dialed the police emergency number.
At the same time,I also clearly saw the house number in the video,803.
It was the exact number of my apartment.
As I watched the slam into the door, I was so terrified that my body went limp — and I couldn’t even move to hide.
Apparently, none of the neighbors heard a thing. No one heard the abnormal doorbell ringing.
I was completely limp and sat on the bedside. Suddenly, I realized that the sound outside the door had stopped without me noticing.
But the man in the video was still going on.
There was no doubt —the number in the video is 803.
And the coinciding doorbell ringing was also real.
I couldn't help but wonder,
Could it be that I was so nervous that I misheard?
Could this just be a prank?Or a terrifying coincidence?
The police emergency call had been connected, and a deep male voice came through, bringing me back to my senses.
I was worried that I had made a false alarm, and I was indeed frightened by the doorbell just now.
Despite my fear,I reported honestly that someone was trying to break into my home,
And I requested that they send someone to investigate.
The video on the computer hadn't stopped playing yet.The man broke through the door with ease.
Dragging the axe,he passed through the living room.He moved like he knew the layout by heart and heading straight for the bedroom.
The clock in the living room was captured in the video. It was exactly 12 o'clock.
But now it was already past 12 o'clock.
I was terrified, but I kept telling myself everything would be fine.
Time had passed, and the doorbell ringing had also stopped.
This meant that nothing would happen.
Just then,the video froze.
I exhaled deeply, like a survivor of a disaster. My pajamas were already soaked with sweat and stuck to my body.
I tiptod forward silently. To avoid making any noise,I didn't even put on my shoes. The cold floor was numb beneath my feet. I slowly walked out of the bedroom and towards the door.
The house was extremely quiet. The hands of the clock on the TV wall turned, making a ticking sound.
My heartbeat pounded like a drum in the dead silence. When I walked up to the peephole,I could almost stop breathing.
The sweat on the tip of my nose made it itch a little.I put my eye close to the peephole.
The thumping of my heart rang in my ears, making me a bit deaf.
There was nothing outside the peephole. My legs gave out and I slid down the door, gasping for air as I hit the floor.
I couldn't fall asleep at all.I just sat at the door and didn't dare to move again.I didn't know where the courage to walk out of the bedroom just now had come from.
I ’d rather collapse right by the door than take another step . Then suddenly, the doorbell rang again—right behind me.
I jumped up like a cat with its fur standing on end.
The doorbell rang rhythmically, and this door seemed to loom larger with each chime.
I pinched my weak leg hard with my fingernails and managed to stand up,slowly walking towards the door.
My palms were drenched, slipping over the cold metal of the doorknob.
I looked out through the peephole. When I saw the flash of a blue police uniform, relief surged through me— I was saved.
