The ball of fire from the amulet hit me first.I put my head in my hands and let out a scream. Then,I realized that there was no burning pain.Instead,it felt soothingly warm and very comfortable.
That head stopped less than a few inches in front of me,roaring, but it didn't dare to come closer.Soon,it turned around, clearly wanting to go back to the room.
"Want to run?"
The female fortune-teller threw out several more balls of fire, trapping the head.
The head was clearly very afraid of those balls of fire.It turned around in all directions but couldn't break through.
Suddenly,it faced me and roared as it directly rushed through the wall of fire and pounced towards me.
The whole head was on fire, and a smell of burnt flesh filled the air, which was both fishy and stinky.
It was getting closer and closer to me!
I wanted to run,but my body froze in place, and I could only watch it helplessly.
I could even see its flesh gradually burning and turning black, revealing the white bones.
"All...you...brave...soldiers..."
The female fortune-teller's voice was very loud. Then,a dragon's roar sounded.
A dragon shadow swallowed the head that was about to reach me.
The entire room echoed with the howls of the head.
Soon,everything went quiet.
The fire on my body also went out.
It was pitch black in front of me.
I could only here my own heavy breathing echoing.
Just as I was wondering if all of this was another dream of mine.
The fire blazed again!
The female fortune-teller ignited two flames in her hands, which were floating in the air.She sat on the ground and began to mutter incantations.
The man with the greasy hair walked over and patted me heavily on the shoulder, laughing heartily.
"Bro,I saved your life! How are you gonna thank me for that?"
I stared blankly at the him.A surge of anger welled up in me.I jumped up,grabbed his collar with both hands, and roared.
"You were fucking trying to kill me,weren't you?"
"I’m gonna kill you!"
The female fortune-teller stopped her mutter and glared at me.
"If you want to fight, take it outside!"
"We just got rid of a fierce ghost here. The negative energy hasn't completely dissipated yet.If there's bloodshed,it will ruin the energy field of this house."
"Who knows how many more of those fierce ghosts might appear!"
I was immediately intimidated and froze grabbing the man's collar, not knowing what to do.
The man with the greasy hair smiled and pushed my hands away.He put his collar back in place, took out a thick stack of banknotes from his pocket, and stuffed them into my hand.
"This is your payment."
I held the banknotes in my hand. The thick feeling surprised me.There must be at least ten thousand dollars here, right?
The man lit a cigarette and smiled.
"You’re in the mood to talk now?"
He told me.
This house was haunted. The developer had hired him at a high price to get rid of the ghost. But no matter what he tried, the ghost just wouldn't show up.
So,he came up with a plan to use a person with bad luck to lure the ghost out,and I was just the right the person he had his eye on.
"Dude,wanna to cooperate?"
The man with the greasy hair said that he would take on the task of cleaning up haunted houses,I would be the bait to lure out the fierce ghosts, and finally, the female fortune-teller would exorcise them.
The money earned would be divided equally among the three of us.
He showed me a number and said that this was the payment for this time.As long as I agreed,I could get one-third of it.
I was immediately hesitant.
He patted me and pointed in the direction of the master bedroom.I turned to look and vaguely saw the shadow of a man.He bowed to the female fortune-teller and then disappeared.
"Look,this isn't just a business.It's also a good deed."
"Say yes to him.I promise you that I will keep you safe."
The female fortune-teller stood up,looked at me,and said seriously.
I was just about to speak when she stretched out her hand to me and at the same time, named a series of amulets.
"That's a total of a hundred thousand dollars!"
What?
I was stunned and instinctively clenched tight the banknotes in my hand.
The man with the greasy hair pressed down the female fortune-teller's hand.
"We'll be working together from now on.Let's forget about that money."
He deliberately paused, looked at me with a smile, and lowered his voice.
"Right?"
I nodded earnestly.
The man hair laughed heartily and suggested going out to celebrate.
Although I couldn't change the fact that I still had to walk down the stairs, now that the fierce ghost had been eliminated,I felt much more relaxed.
I chatted with the man with the greasy hair casually.
Suddenly,a hand grabbed my arm.
I instinctively let out a scream and shook my hand, almost rolling down the stairs.
I turned around in fear and anger and met the cold expression of the female fortune-teller.
It was her who had suddenly grabbed my hand.
Before I could ask,the expression on the man's face became stern too.He lowered his voice and said.
"We've been trapped here by ghosts!”
trapped by ghosts?
I shone the flashlight on the floor number in the stairwell.
The 18th floor!
How could this be!
We had definitely been walking for several minutes!
Could it be that we were really trapped?
But hadn't that fierce ghost been eliminated and exorcised already?
The female fortune-teller's face turned pale with anger. She took out several paper amulets and handed them to me and the man with the greasy hair.
"It seems that the one just now wasn't the real mastermind behind all these."
"Whoever’s behind this, he can't be underestimated!"
Before the man with the greasy hair could finish his sentence,he let out a scream, floated into the air,and was suddenly dragged into the corridor on the 18th floor.
The female fortune-teller let out a low cry and chased after him.
When I recovered myself,I found that I was the only one left in the stairwell.
I looked in the direction of the corridor. That was the home of the head.
The darkness there was like the long hair of the head,as if it was reaching out with its claws.
I felt a chill run down my back and instinctively ran down the stairs.
At this moment, all I wanted was to leave,to get out of this building and never come back.
But!
When I felt extremely thirsty and my limbs were weak,my gaze fell on the floor number in the corridor.
Eighteen!
A feeling of despair welled up in me,and I almost wanted to lie on the ground and cry out loud.
I looked up at the corridor, made up my mind and walked in quickly.
The female fortune-teller was inside. She had some very powerful magic in her.If I found her and stayed by her side,I could be safe!
Soon, that door appeared in front of me.I suddenly stopped, swallowed, hesitated for a moment, and shoved the door open.
Inside the door,it had once again become that luxurious-looking room.
However,I had already seen the true appearance of this house.Dilapidated and old was its real look, and it was also burdened with a terrifying story.
The extravagance in front of me not only didn't make me feel at ease at all but instead it made me feel even more fearful and uneasy.
I gathered my courage and called out the female fortune-teller's name. The response I got was a sound coming from the guest room.
Click...
It seemed to be the sound of the wardrobe door closing.
I clenched my phone as a weapon and cautiously walked to the door of the guest room.I opened the door.
The room was brightly lit,but I didn't go in.
Instead,I stood at the door,on guard against any terrifying scene that might suddenly appear.
After a while, since everything appeared calm,I slowly walked in.
