I answered the phone,but it wasn't my girlfriend's voice.
The person on the other end of the phone gave me an address, and I quickly took a taxi there.
The person said they were Grace's colleague, and Grace had fainted and was now in the hospital.
I had just seen Jason, who was supposed to be dead, and now my girlfriend was in the hospital.
A bad premonition welled up in me.I didn't know if there was any connection between these two things. How could it be such a coincidence?
I anxiously urged the driver to hurry up.
The driver said okay, but the speed of the car remained the same.
The time in the car felt like an eternity. After passing two more traffic lights,I finally arrived at the hospital.
As I ran up the steps,I looked back a few times.
In the emergency parking space on the right side of the entrance, the ambulance parked there was the same one that had just brought Jason here!
Just as I was being scolded by two nurses for running in the corridor,I finally saw Grace.
Grace was leaning against the chair, with a drip in her right hand and a phone in her left hand. She was smiling and talking on the phone.
Seeing this scene,I finally felt that my heart rate had returned to normal.I let out a long sigh of relief and adjusted myself before walking over.
After Grace finished the call,I asked about the situation.
It turned out that Grace was anemic, and due to not eating well recently, she had fainted from low blood sugar.
I held her hand and comforted her,and then told her to make sure to eat on time.
Grace didn't talk back to me.She stuck out her tongue, grabbed my hand, and said,
"Okay,I've remembered everything you said.I will definitely be a good girl and follow your words exactly."
Then,Grace noticed that I wasn't wearing the watch on my wrist. She pouted and asked me,
"Don't you like it?"
Her voice was soft and sweet, with a hint of grievance, more so than when her lipstick broke.
I then remembered that this morning,I was so distracted by the news from the police officer that I didn't put on the watch after washing up.
It was a black watch with a white frame around it.It looked a bit like a sports bracelet, but it wasn't.
When you press the side button once, the screen lights up,and the pattern inside is an astronaut holding a little star.
The little star had mine and Grace's names engraved on it.
The watches were a pair, and Grace had them custom-made.
I quickly apologized and promised that there would never be a next time.Except when taking a shower or swimming,I would definitely wear the watch at all other times.
After the drip was finished,I accompanied Grace to eat something, bought some candies and chocolates, and then sent her home.
By the time I got home,it was already one o'clock in the morning.
After a tiring day,I was mentally and physically exhausted.Just as I was about to go to bed,the phone on the bedside table started buzzing.I was so startled that I jumped.
Who was calling me in the middle of the night?
And it was a strange number without any label!
I didn't order any takeout!
