Chapter 28

258words
The first time I saw Aria was during the Year 10 PE exam.

Three-step layup drill.

Across the court, I spotted this cute girl, clutching the basketball to her chest, ponytail bouncing with each nervous hop.

Her shot didn't even touch the rim, just bounced off the backboard and smacked her right in the head.

She stood there looking dazed, rubbing the spot. Like a stunned little rabbit.

I couldn't help laughing.

Dorian smacked my arm. "What's so funny? Come on, we're late for class."

"Yeah, yeah."

By the time I looked back, the gym had cleared out—silly bunny gone.

Damn it, Dorian's fault!

I spotted her again not long after.

I was skipping class, napping in a tree in the biology garden. Some noise woke me up.

I looked down—and there was silly bunny, crouched by the shrubs, sorting through pebbles.

She picked one, sat cross-legged, pulled out some chalk, and started drawing, completely focused.

I was directly above her. Couldn't see what she was drawing!

So frustrating!

I was afraid jumping down would scare her off. So I just hung there, craning my neck like an idiot.

The bell rang. She stood up. Finally I could see—

A dorky little bunny!

The silly bunny had drawn a silly bunny.

How could anyone be this adorable? Jesus!

After school, I was supposed to meet some guys from the sports academy to settle a score.

Halfway there, I suddenly thought—

Why was she always alone?

Don't human girls always travel in packs?

Tomorrow, I needed to find her.
