Chapter 6

"What the hell are you talking about? Grant Corporation is worth millions! It can't just go bankrupt overnight!"
Realization dawned in her eyes, replaced instantly by pure venom.
"You conniving bitch!"
"It was you all along! You've been setting us up from the beginning!"
"I knew your generosity was too good to be true! No woman would hand over a fortune without a scheme!"
"This was your plan the whole time! I hope you rot in hell for this!"
Jessica launched herself at me, fingers curved like talons aimed for my eyes.
My security team plucked her from the air like a squawking hen.
She thrashed and kicked, her face contorted with impotent rage.
"Do you know who I am?! I'm the wife of the Chairman of Grant Corporation!"
"You must have a death wish! Nobody treats me like this!"
I ignored her theatrics as the officers moved forward with practiced efficiency.
One presented an official document, holding it before Jessica's wild eyes.
"Ms. Miller, pursuant to court order, all assets under your name have been legally frozen. Your signature is required to acknowledge receipt of this notice."
Jessica thrashed harder. "Get your hands off me! I'm the lady of this house!"
"What bankruptcy? That's ridiculous! My husband is loaded!"
I flicked my wrist, and my security team fanned out through the mansion with military precision.
The officers ignored Jessica's screams and methodically began documenting everything of value.
I gripped Jessica's chin between my thumb and forefinger, squeezing just hard enough to leave marks.
"Last chance. Where is my daughter?"
Real fear flooded Jessica's eyes as she finally understood—the meek woman she'd tormented was gone, replaced by something far more dangerous.
Fat tears streaked her makeup as she tried to recoil from my grip.
"I swear I don't know! I really don't!"
"Victoria took her somewhere—that's all I know! This has nothing to do with me!"
My face remained stone. "Call her."
Confusion flickered across her face before understanding dawned.
As she fumbled for her phone with shaking hands, Felix's voice boomed from the next room.
"Who the fuck do you people think you are? This is private property!"
"Touch anything and I'll sue you into the next century! You couldn't afford to replace a doorknob in this place!"
My security team didn't even acknowledge his existence as they deposited him roughly onto the sofa, pinning him in place.
Jessica scrambled to her feet, suddenly transformed.
She dropped to her knees, crawling toward me. "Please, I'm begging you! Spare my son! I never meant to hurt you!"
"He's just a boy—he doesn't know what he's doing!"
I shoved her away with my foot, my voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.
"Make the call. Now."
Jessica fumbled with her phone, dialing Victoria with trembling fingers and activating the speaker.
Despite the crowd filling the mansion, the silence was absolute—you could have heard a pin drop.
The line connected with a soft click.
"Jessica? What now?"
Jessica swallowed audibly, fighting to steady her voice.
"Mother, where did you take that brat Eve?"
Victoria's chuckle crackled through the speaker.
"Felix mentioned he couldn't stand the sight of her, so I've arranged something with the Harrisons."
"We'll finalize the engagement tomorrow. Once it's official, Felix will never have to see her again."
Ice flooded my veins. The Harrisons?
The family with the son who has XYY Syndrome!
Victoria Palmer, I never imagined even you could sink this low.
Eve is your own flesh and blood, yet you'd condemn her to a marriage with a man with a chromosomal disorder!
