Chapter 25 INTERROGATION

"I'm the CEO of our company built my great grandfather. I'm taking my breakfast with my wife before I take a bath. I go to work at eight (8) o'clock in the morning, I don't have driver or bodyguard because I'm just a simple person. I drive on my own. I buy coffee in my favorite coffee shop and at exactly nine (9) o'clock in the morning. I went home late that night due to papers that are urgent to release. I got tired so I fell asleep unintentionally then wake up at seven 7 o'clock in the evening. I drive my car home and I arrived at eight (8) o'clock in the evening. Usually, I went home at 6 o'clock in the evening but that was the first time I went home late. My wife and I sleep early because she wants to wake up early to cook for our breakfast the next day. So, we are sleeping at 8 but that night since I went home late, I decided to take a bath first before we sleep," Mr. Jones discussed.
"My wife is really caring, she prepares everything I need before going to work," he added.
"She told me that she'll check his nephew downstairs because he texted my wife if he can stay and spend the night with us. "I'll be right back in five (5) minutes. Then, she goes downstairs. After that, I didn't know what happened next. The house is so quiet and I can't hear anything because I'm at the bathroom that time, I used shower so I wasn't able to hear anything downstairs," he clearly explained.
"So, after that, what happened next? Have you heard any shout from your wife or any noise instead?" Vhiann asked.
"I was so worried when I called her after five (5) minutes and she's not answering so, I turned off the shower. I was about to brush my teeth that time but I saw three tooth brush, the green one is mine; the blue is my wife's toothbrush but the red one is new and I am sure that it is not mine, not my wife's toothbrush," he explained.
"Ten (10) minutes had passed but my wife is not yet in the room. I called my wife again but she's not answering. I was so worried so, I decided to go outside the bathroom. I saw my clothes she prepared then I dressed up but my wife is not in our room yet. That moment, I felt something wrong and I had a gut feel that something happened bad. I went out to our bed room. I saw a kid, I guess that kid is whom she's referring her nephew. I noticed him trembling with fear and silently crying under the dining table. His hands are shaking and full of blood. I wasn't yet on the ground floor that time, I just saw the kid from the second floor. I felt something unusual. So, I go downstairs and saw my wife near the main door. She was covered with blood like she swam in her own blood. I pulled the knife stabbed near her heart and throw it away. If I am not mistaken, that knife stabbed in our soft sofa near the crime scene," Mr. Jones told them.
"Did you call the police to ask for help when you saw your wife lying on the floor? Is she still alive that moment?" Adam asked him.
"No. She's dead when I found her. That's actually what I'm thinking, I was wondering why the police arrived so fast, I didn't report yet what happened. They saw what I did when I saw my wife lying on the floor. They said, they saw what I did because the door is open and they saw it clearly. But how come they knew what happened? Who called the police? My wife's nephew is trembling with fear that time, I'm sure that my wife can't call the police too because she can't move to hold anything because of the stabs she got from the hands of the killer," he exclaimed.
"From that time, I found loopholes like someone witnessed what happened aside from her nephew before I go downstairs and see my wife lying on the floor who reported to the police. I realized that it was a framed up. My wife always locks the main door of our house especially at night and if she's alone for her safety. But the door is opened that's why the policemen saw me pulling the knife that made them think and suspect me that I stabbed my own wife. I have a gut feel that the killer escaped using the main door and he left the door open," the accused intelligently discussed.
"Aside from your wife's nephew, did you see someone in the crime scene?" Hannah asked.
"I don't know. What I remember is, I saw shadow from the kitchen near the sink. When I hugged my wife after pulling the knife and throw it away with anger. I rolled my eyes around and I saw shadow of a person wearing a cap, I am sure that's a man. After that, the police arrested me. They also carried my wife's nephew and bring him together with them in the precinct."
Everything happens two days ago. I was immediately arrested and put here in jail before the I was called for the hearing. The police officer told me that I'll be staying here in jail because I'm the prime suspect. My lawyer backed out to handle my case so, Atty. Galiego replaced him and that hearing he took charge of my case because my lawyer didn't show up in the court. While my mother-in-law and father-in-law called Atty. Nicdao as their lawyer. I called Atty. Galiego to be my lawyer and help me prove everyone that I'm innocent.
"Where's your wife's nephew now?" Adam asked him curiously. "Who took him in the precinct that night? I mean, there should be someone who will take him there right?" Adam added.
"Honestly, I don't know. I even don't know his name and who's his parents. I haven't seen that kid before when we are in a relationship. She never mentioned that kid to me even just once. My wife and I were newlywed, we've been together for five (5) months," he said.
