Chapter 40

The elevator finally opened and those two minutes felt like years and I did what every prideful woman would have done.
I straightened my figure and walked out of the elevator without uttering a word back to him.
I took long steps as much as my legs could allow me and I heard him shout 'you know I wont give up yeah?' .
Instead of answering him I kept on walking.
Tomorrow was friday and that meant that I would get to see this man only for half a day or not at all.
After getting Ansel from my parents we headed home and after a very productive dinner with a small dessert we went to sleep.
The following day I woke up later than my alarm and to be honest I had no idea of what was happening because Ansel didnt even wake me up.
Going in his room I first finished up with him.
Made him breakfast and took the fastest shower.
I dropped him to school and when I dug in my bag to find my card I couldn't find it.
I was doomed.
I was fucked.
I had no idea of who would have taken it and I started to panic.
I parked my car on the side of the road and got out.
First to take in some air and second to calm my nerves.
I went back inside the car but this time in the backseat and sat down.
I hopped and prayed to find it and still remain with some more time.
I then took the handbag and flipped it upside down making sure all the zippers were open.
To my luck it fell out along with the rest of the things that were inside.
Sighing I took it then read the time that he scribed down and saw that it was ten which meant that I had more than half an hour to spare.
Yeah I was very lucky.
Sending a small prayer of thanks I started returning the things inside my bag and got ready to start driving to the rich part of this town.
The houses there looked like my five months salary combined including even the shopping Bill's and car maintenance money.
Trying to calm down after my nerves got the best of me I got straddled by my phone that started ringing.
Looking at the caller's ID I saw that it was a private number and I furrowed my brows.
I then remembered the weird phone call I got yesterday and let this phone ring.
But then I thought twice about it.
Why not hear what they have to say so I picked it up and was disappointed to hear some authoring voice.
Mr Ivanov himself.
Josiah's father.
He started off by reminding me that the meeting was still on and took it upon himself to send me his address again so that I dont get lost.
According to him.
Saying a small thanks I clicked on the adress and it appeared on the map.
Well I guess it saves the trouble of asking people around especially rich snobs.
I got out of the backseat and started driving towards my destination.
First thing when I entered the town I was amazed.
Where the fuck did these people get money to build castles.
Almost knocking over a dog because I was admiring a door I stopped ogling about people's houses and minded my own business.
I really didnt want to knock over a dog whose funeral would cost me my apartment.
When I got on the gate of the beautiful looking mansion I stopped and wondered what I should do now.
Horn.
Wait.
Or maybe head back because well I was getting extra nervous.
On my rescue there came a man in uniform and after him mentioning my name I turned my head in his direction rolling down the window.
He then told the other guards to open the doors and he gave a smile and told me to drive ahead.
Thanking him I did as I was told and parked my car behind a Bugatti yes a damn Bugatti.
Trying not to drool at the sight of it I got out of the car and Mr Ivanov himself happened to be waiting for me next to my car.
Giving him a small smile I gave out my hand for a shake in terms of greetings.
His was firm and meant business and it hurt a little when he released my hand he told me to follow him.
I did as I was told and walked right behind him in the house while admiring the expensive looking halls the pictures and even the paintings.
He lead me to his office. He opened the door for me telling me to get in and I did just like I was told.
One had carried my handbag and another one carried my CV and certificates.
I really needed that job especially since it would bring me some peace of mind.
Mostly from being away from Lucas.
Maybe it would help me forget him too.
He told me to sit down and because I wanted to impress this man I obeyed and did as I was told.
We started this interview and I hopped that this wouldn't be like the one I had with his son.
We went over everything.
He asked relevant and understandable questions and in the middle of this coffee and snacks were brought in our way which I kindly denied and he insisted.
Just to Impress him I took a sip and left it untouched for the rest of the conversation.
I was not a fan of coffee.
The interview happened to be longer than I expected.
Who interviews people for half a whole hour.
He would start unnecessary stories in the middle of a question which would have us hovering with laughter.
After that I headed home but not after his sweetheart of a wife gave me cookies to take home.
