Chapter 35 The Last Resort

Johan turns to Arjuna. "If there is a patch of lawn, may we go and sit somewhat away from the building on the grass and meditate, Arjuna?"
Arjuna frowns. "It is late at night and the grass is wet from dew, Johan."
He looks at the big, soft cushions on a smart, antique sofa and gets them. "Here, take this one. I'll ask the ladies to wash them afterwards."
Johan takes the cushion while the heavy door is opened and a cool night breeze brushes over him. Barefooted they walk out on a marble veranda with two security guards following them. He smells iodine and the dampness of sea air. He looks around and sees the place is encircled by high pine trees that block his vision and he cannot make out if there are city lights or the gleam thereof behind them. It must be a smallholding! The breeze carries the sea air. Thus, they are near the coast. Does the breeze come from the sea?
Johan looks up and smiles because Arjuna is right. There is no cloud in sight. Spotlights illuminate the place around the building. They walk down three steps and over a concrete aisle to a parking area while the security men on the veranda watch them. Johan wishes there were vehicles around and that he could memorize registration numbers, but there are none.
Arjuna turns to the right and walks over the wet grass and Johan follows and mentions his appreciation.
"Oh, thank you, Arjuna, it is simply wonderful to feel the earth beneath my feet. I feel like a full-laden capacitor that discharges through my feet."
Arjuna smiles. "I understand, my friend, we are made of the same stuff. I don't know how modern people can isolate them day and night from Mother Earth. I must feel her frequently beneath my bare feet and this lawn is perfect. Not a man-made surface that isolates us from her, not so?"
Johan looks back. It is a big building. He scrutinizes the heavens and except for the spotlights, he notices a faint glimmer of the city lights. He was right. They are still in the vicinity of Port Elizabeth because the expanse shows less detail than it would on a farm or in the wilderness far away from the effects of city light.
Arjuna throws down his cushion and takes place in the lotus position but Johan scrutinizes the horizon behind the home and finds the Southern Cross. Deliberately he turns his back so accurately as possible to the south, throws his cushion down and sits down next to Arjuna. He looks back and sees a table with chairs on the veranda to the side of his back. He targets the table and seeks a landmark in line with it and finds a smaller pine tree opposite the parking area in between others nicely in line with him and the table.
He grins happily because his plans are in check. Ronald usually meets him before breakfast in the mess. He heard a Boeing flew over every day at 12:40.
Johan looks at Arjuna. "So far you have fulfilled all your promises and I am so thankful to you to get some fresh air. What about a last request, my friend?"
Arjuna winks friendly: "At your service. What is it?"
"Ronald meets me every day before breakfast. Please persuade him that the three of us could convene at the table on the veranda to have a discussion. I want so dearly to see the sun. I feel so entrapped in that room. Please, Arjuna! Ronald made me aware of very important points that I want to discuss with him when you are with us. You and I have the same philosophical background and I need your wisdom."
"Maybe we must touch on your subject right now, Johan. I take it Ronald informed you about the Holocene mass extinction in which we find ourselves."
"I want to discuss this with both of you. It is always only Ronald and me. He's got good arguments, but I need your input because what they are expecting of me, is ethically unacceptable to me."
"What we expect of you is basically the same as what Vishnu is expecting of you, Johan."
"Arjuna, Ronald played open cards with me and told me almost everything. I don't think you realize the full implications of what these people are trying to do. They combined utterly dangerous viruses and made a terrible biological weapon which they developed further so that people who are infected will be living for quite a long time and become monsters and they need me to make the distribution of this as effective and speedy as possible."
Arjuna shakes his head knowingly. "The world is responsible for this Holocene extinction! This is the only way to stop the extinction and time is running out, Johan. I know a lot more than you realize, my friend. There is an outcome with or without your knowledge, and believe me, with your knowledge the outcome will be so much more positive! The prophet has shown me.
"The prophet waited till the last moment so that we will be prepared to put things right, but this year is the last chance. If we wait till next year, we will miss the opportunity. The last defense mechanism against the activities of mankind, the tropical forests, are being burnt. We must stop mankind before next year. Before the weather systems irrevocably gets out of hand and the atmosphere is destroyed. Before next year the earth is going to lose oxygen and water that will extinguish all life on earth in the end so that Mother Earth will be like Mars in a short time. That would be the last, final mass extinction! Earlier mass extinctions left living species behind that could develop from start, but this one will be final because only some microscopic organisms can live without water and oxygen.
Johan shakes his head despondently. "I don't understand why they so dearly want my knowledge? The mighty Shiva can easily bring the world effectively to an end without my input."
Arjuna smiles. "When Vishnu appeared as Krishna, he could also without Arjuna annihilate the devilish powers 5000 years ago, if he so wished, but we ourselves must color the world positive or negative. Your knowledge to spread the weapon by air will overwhelm all the institutions so that things can move fast enough and the earth will recover by itself. If we use the weapon as it is currently, there will be institutions that will dig in and will ensure that the world and its devilish practices live on. Eventually, they will be a stumbling block that inhibits the New Earth that we want to establish to bring harmony in our part of the Milky Way."
Johan shakes his head. "I don't think you realize the horrible things Ronald and his team already did, my friend. I took Ronald up on that because I am convinced your plans won't succeed. The world is too big and too intricate and somewhere a country or institution will deter you and resist your weapon. Arjuna, I wonder if you know how far Ronald and his team went to develop the weapon that they now want me to help to distribute more effective?
"Ronald eventually told me bluntly to encourage me and showed me what they had developed. Arjuna, innocent people are going to inhale the poison. Ronald and his team shortened the incubation time; thus the infected person will wake up disorientated the next day because some of the aspects of the rabies virus will affect the character-forming part of his brain and some aspects of measles and the encephalitis virus will change his personality. Aspects of the Ebola virus will result in him bleeding the whole time; just enough so that he does not die, but desperately needs fresh clean blood. Ronald and his team refined the thing and experimented with people in their laboratories until they perfected the samples.
"That metamorphosis of people becoming monsters they even further developed on an island in the Pacific Ocean to where they lured people that believed that they won a holiday. They then released the samples amongst them. Ronald showed me how effective this thing was because even without my knowledge people on the island changed to monsters within a month. He believes they have now developed a method by which they, with my knowledge, can shorten the process to less than a week. They will be testing it on the same island and refine it and then distribute it all over the world and introduce it simultaneously. How they are going to do it remains a secret.
"Arjuna, those people on the island changed into monsters that prey on healthy people. The monsters formed a collective identity just like bees or ants and worked together and communicated with one another and formed groups to hunt down healthy people for their flesh and blood. They spit and even succeed to infect people who evaded them and distribute their germs all over so that the people who eluded them later on become monsters themselves that join groups to form bigger and stronger groups. The groups became competing, blood-thirsty, violent man-eaters that didn't want to eat animals but only fresh human flesh and blood.
"Arjuna, when healthy human flesh became scarce, the groups broke up in smaller entities and started to hunt one another, and when a group got the upper hand they devoured the other groups.
"And, Arjuna, there is no immunization against this virus. Ronald and his team rely on the possibility that there should be one person out of thousands that have or develop a natural resistance against the virus. Such people would not succumb to sickness, but they will silently be carriers of the virus which transfers the sickness. They are the rare, secret carriers of natural antibodies against the sickness. Ronald believes that your prophet has chosen ones who from day one have to fight for survival. He believes your prophet has identified those persons already and that he will find one or more survivors with a natural resistance against the virus. Ronald believes your prophet will safeguard these survivors from the beginning and lead then through the hell of a world full of man-eating monsters and they will find them and bring them to us.
"Ronald also believes I am an important member of the team not only because I could make the release of the virus more effective, but also has the prophet shown him how I could play an important role to make immunization from the antibodies of these survivors, in the end to save the world. We will then start a new civilization that will develop in harmony with Mother Earth and we will in the future colonize the Milky Way while we will resurrect the earth to its fullest glory as the rich source of all life."
Arjuna smile. "It is all true, Johan, I saw it. The prophet is going to show you the future world, Johan, and then you will realize the great influence your decisions will have on the eventual world. There is, unfortunately, no other way, because today all institutions are powerless against the selfishness of the most powerful managers of the financial sector to do the right thing in time. The weather system is going to go haywire and the only way to stop it is to, with your input, effectively put a stop to it.
"The rain forests will start growing again. Animal life and vegetation will grow and take over. You will be surprised to know how many species that have been thought as extinct, even those we are not aware of, will again appear and flourish. Today less than six percent of the wildlife on earth remains, Johan. Who gives us the right to take over and demolish earth like this? The prophet showed me how fantastic our Earth will look in just over ten years from now when our present civilization has come to an abrupt end, but little time is left, Johan. We have only this year left, otherwise, everything will collapse chaotically!"
"Ronald certainly must have informed you that the calculations of present scientists are totally off the mark. Things work logarithmic and our hourglass is running out quicker than they predict. We are ready and this year we are going to release the thing with or without your help. If we wait any longer, we will pass the point of no return.
"There will be not enough plants with chlorophyll and algae with chloroplasma in the oceans to resurrect the atmosphere and carbon dioxide is going to cause things to get logarithmically out of hand. The weather systems are going to destroy everything: humans, animals, and plants so that the earth will become like Mars without oxygen and water resembling a barren desert."
