Chapter 20 Visiting Hours

Kadin told Rene what happened in great detail while they were preparing brunch and she is now laying the table while Rene is fetching Billy. Billy appears with the towel just above the horrible marks on his back low on his loins.

Kadin pulls out a chair: "Come and sit here, Billy, we prepared beef sausages and big egg omelettes with lots of melted cheese, bacon and tomato together with whole wheat toast and warm coffee. Everything is ready. Just help yourself to milk, sugar and coffee. I hope you like this kind of food."

Billy smiles thankfully and avoids his back touching the back of the chair by sitting at the tip in an upright position. Troubled Kadin frowns and shudders at the thought of the damage on his back. With a question mark on her face, she remarks: "His back looks horrible, Mother. We must get him to a doctor. The pain must be unbearable."

Rene also looks quite upset. "Just sit down, Kadin, and join him. I am going to get those blue Mybulen tablets for pain and after he has eaten he must swallow at least two of them. After brunch, I am going to nurse him with Ress's Wonder Ointment that we used for those bad wounds that wouldn't heal. I am going to apply it very carefully, but first, the Mybulens must kick in."

Rene disappears in the corridor and Kadin sits down on Billy's left side and smiles lovingly at him. He smiles back. "Thanks, Kadin, you really have the loveliest mother. You must be very proud of her."

Kadin leans forward and their lips melt into a kiss. They taste each other before he pulls away but she follows his mouth before she breaks away. With passion, they look at each other and she wishes his warmth could always stay with her and that this heavenly moment will never pass because he has taken over her heart completely in such a short time.

She whispers in his ear: "Thank you, my brave prince. I shall never forget how you protected me by enduring that horrendous torture."

Billy lifts his hand and lightly strokes her lovely, brown hair. "What else, my lovely princess!"

Kadin smiles contentedly. "Just eat now. My mother will be here soon with those tablets."

Billy starts eating and then suddenly realized how ravenous he really is and digs in with meaning and forgets about everything else. Then he realizes that Kadin isn't eating as well, but that she is only staring at him.

"Come now. Aren't you going to join me? You just sit there and marvel at me."

Kadin again smiles gleefully. "I was so intensely worried about you. You won't understand how nice it is to have you safely sitting next to me."

Billy points with his eyes to her plate. "Okay, don't stop eating, Sir, here I go." She starts eating while they are looking affectionately at each other.

Rene comes back with two tablets and puts it next to his coffee. "This is it, Billy. Drink it quickly so that it can start to reduce the pain. It will be good for pain and fever. I will apply the ointment as soon as you have finished your meal."

Billy takes them and gulps it down with his coffee. "Thank you, Aunty. Your meal was delicious. I was famished."

Rene sits down and enjoys her meal while she speaks: "Let us get our pigs in a row. So, you became friends because of your inquisitiveness about that strange script in the booklet for which the old man was assaulted. You decided to find out what it is that is written in there together. You went to the Hindus and the leader told you what is written inside. He warned you that maybe an occult group wanted the booklet and that the leader probably is a mighty wizard with supernatural hypnotic powers. Billy then got caught and was tortured but he refused to tell them the booklet is in your room, Kadin. Am I right so far, Billy?"

"That is correct, Aunty."

"Kadin, then you encountered the wizard and two of his men at Billy's home and convinced him that you would bring the booklet to the library in exchange for Billy. And now you are here. Is there something else you haven't told me?"

Kadin and Billy look at each other and then Kadin remembers: "I haven't told you that Vyasa doctored the booklet."

Billy is amazed: "He did what?"

"Michael convinced us that the part Vyasa couldn't decipher is Afrikaans written in Sanskrit symbols. He believed that the old man and his daughter are captives and that he had a contact outside for which he wanted to leave a message, but then he was caught out. He thought the villains have no idea what is written in the booklet so we decided that Vyasa make a fake copy except for the part with the secret code. So he changed that part in order not to give away the old man's secret about his contact. It is still me and Michael's secret that he is going to decipher the code without Vyasa knowing it. Michael is sure he can crack the code as soon as he gets the opportunity.

"I asked the wizard to tell me his name in the library and he calls himself Vipracitti. I wonder now, Billy, Vipracitti warned me that he would capture our souls if we double cross him. Maybe we were wrong and our theory was wrong because what did Vipracitti do to us in the library? We both had been put in a trance and we visited Vyasa and Michael back in time before we awoke and he disappeared. What has he done to us?"

Billy worriedly frowns: "Kadin, we must warn Vyasa and Michael. I think Vipracitti looked through our eyes and now know their address. They could be in grave danger. But we don't know their telephone numbers, so we will have to go and warn them in person."

Rene is perturbed: "What do you mean that the wizard, Vipracitti, stole your thoughts through his eyes? How did he do it?"

Kadin explains: "He said we must hold each other's hands and read together from the book of truth. Then he wiped his hand over the book and it changed into a mirror and the next moment his eyes pulled us like magnets and we hung in the dark and it was as if light shines out of us. Then his face appeared and he took us back in time to when we met Vyasa and Michael who deciphered part of the script and we went through the whole visit. When we awoke, he was gone with the fake booklet."

Rene is flabbergasted. "The man hypnotized you! Who knows what he left in your brains. This is really dangerous. We'll have to get you to a psychiatrist after we have taken Billy to the doctor."

After the meal, they proceed to the guest room. Rene tells Billy to lie on his stomach with his head hanging over the bed for his back muscles to relax. Rene softly grits her teeth as she applies the ointment little by little in his open wounds and she sees how Billy grabs the sheets from sheer pain without uttering a sound. She looks at Kadin and sees tears flowing freely over her cheeks there where she is sitting and watching on the edge of the bed.

Rene says softly. "Tell me if it becomes too sore, Billy."

Billy replies. His voice betrays great pain. "It's okay, Aunty, don't stop, I'm okay."

"And what is going on here?"

Dismayed Kadin looks up and Billy wants to jump up but Rene holds him back. "Stay put, Billy, I'm not finished yet."

Jack awoke and was on his way through the corridor to the toilet and when he passed the guest room he saw this strange scene. He comes in and walks up to the bed. He bends and stunned studies Billy's back.

"What the hell happened to him?"

Kadin answers with a small, crying voice: "The villains tortured him because they wanted to get hold of that booklet I had shown you in the park. The booklet was in my room and he refused to tell them because he wanted to protect me."

Astonished Jack looks at Rene who keeps on applying the ointment unperturbed and just peeps quickly at him and nods her head. "This is Billy that I told you about. Our Kadin's special friend that she hasn't yet introduced to us and she is telling the truth. Look how they ravaged him but he didn't cooperate to protect Kadin and his mother."

Jack comes closer and bends in front of Billy. They look into each other's eyes. "With what did they torture you, Billy? There are also deep cuts around your wrists. It looks as if they hung you on your arms while they lashed you with something."

"Yes, Uncle. Something with hard knobs."

"And you kept silent and refused to play along. They lashed your skin away, Billy. How did you do it?"

Billy only nods and Jack frowns. "Who are these monsters!"

"Very dangerous people, Uncle. But forget them for now; it is history and Kadin is safe."

Jack gets up and gazes at Rene enraged. "We must take him immediately for intensive treatment before infection and fever develops. This guy suffered enough. Just tell me everything, please; these shitholes must not get away with this! I can't wait to lay my hands on them!"

Anxiously Rene looks at Jack because she recognizes the look in his eyes. The hate in them tells her that she will have to quell the dangerous devil that is slumbering deep inside him before it fully awakes. Kadin doesn't know this side of her father and it is the best that it remains hidden.

The front doorbell rings and Jack asks: "Rene, do you expect someone?"

Rene shakes her head. "No, I don't know who it could be at this hour."

It rings again longer and more urgently. Billy quickly gets up and turns into a sitting position. Nervously he looks at Jack.

"Uncle, I've just thought of something. Those villains handed all my belongings back to me; my school bag and my smartphone. Kadin secretly gave them a fake booklet. What if they planted a tracer in my bag? Maybe it's them at the front door!"
