Ember's Pov

"you're an Alpha?" Christina asked William with a fallen face, and he simply nodded without so much as sparing her a glance,

"And you're the owner of this place?" she asked the manager, and he looked at her as though spotting her for the first time,

"I believe so, "

It was at that moment that someone called out her name, and we all turned to find Paris, walking toward us with Kate at his side,

"Christina, we've been looking all over for you," Paris said and I watched his eyes grow wide when they fell on me,

"you're here," he said to me,

"and so are you," I said right back,

"seems like I'm the only one who isn't well acquainted with the group. But I take it that you're Christina," he said to Christina and she nodded,

"Hold on, Paris, I was just about letting everyone know what kind of person Ember is," Christina said harshly,

"And what kind of person is she, might I ask?" William, who stayed quiet the entire time asked,

"a gold-digger, and a cheat, and I'm surprised you haven't figured it out yet."

"Well, for some reason, I find that hard to believe." the manager said, smiling down at me in such a fatherly manner.

And I felt my heart bursting at the seams. Perhaps it’s because, after so long of being treated like crap by Christina, somebody finally saw through her hate and malice and didn’t see me as the bad guy.

“Thank you.” I found myself saying and he simply waved it off.

"she's brainwashed you. She has a fine way of doing that." Christina spat,

"I believe I can see clearly what is happening here, lass. You simply have too much hate inside that heart of yours." he said, and shook his head at Christina, "why the poor girl has done nothing wrong."

"at least you're being reasonable.” William said to the manager and rounded on Christina, "You've done nothing but speak wrongly to Ember since you got here. I stayed quiet, reasoning that it was a thing between two females and would be settled if I didn’t utter a word , but I see now that you don’t have that in mind. The more you speak, the more your hate fuels and you long for everyone else to see her with those evil eyes. It is deceptive and unfair and I won't condone it any longer, I'm going to have to ask you to leave this table. You should be glad I'm not kicking you out."

“Who told you , you could speak to me that way? Who told you, you could speak to me at all?” She spat,

“You're walking on very thin ice.” William said and I heard it. That dangerous that Ashley had spoken of. I finally heard it.

Perhaps Christina heard it too, because her jaw dropped and then she turned to her brother looking scandalized, and he turned to William,

"and who the hell are you?" Paris sneered,

"I am Alpha William, of the sky moon pack, and I won't watch while his woman disrespects Ember any longer." William said and I was surprised that he could still manage to sound elegant even though he had sounded on the verge of murder only seconds ago.

Paris looked from him to me and back to me, and I saw the moment he made a deduction. He thought we were together

"Why would you even want to be tangled up with someone like her?" Christina asked, and Paris put a hand on her shoulder,

"That's enough, Christina."

"no! She has to -“

"Christina, I said it's enough!" Paris said with his Alpha tone and Kate nudged her on the elbow,

"come on, Christina. Let's go. We don't have to be around them, it’s getting you all worked up.

She looked like she was going to stand there and argue, until eventually, she relented,

"fine." she said through ground teeth, "let's go in then, this place is getting crowded.

There were two sections of the party. This outer spot we were in while we waited for the other part to be opened for the main event.

"I'm afraid that will be somewhat impossible." the manager said and we all turned to look at him,

"excuse me?" it was Paris who asked and the manager shrugged,

"you, Alpha Paris, are only invited to bring one guest alongside you. You have two women with you, but I'm sorry to tell you that you will have to bring in only one to the inner area. "

Kate looked at Christina and Christina looked at Kate and I did my best to not laugh at the look of shock on both their faces.

"Well, that's not right." Kate blurted out, but the manager was turning back to me, "I'll go arrange things for you regarding the VIP section." he said and shook hands with William before stalking off, leaving us alone with the trio of toxic warriors.

"You taking me in there, aren't you?" Christina said without room for argument, but Kate wasn't letting this one go so easily,

"what if I want to be taken in as well?" she asked with a pit, and her hands folded. William and I simply sat down and watched the drama unfold,

"Well, what exactly are you going to do there? You barely even know anyone in there." Christina said,

"And you do?"

"way more than you do, I assure you."

"oh please, " Kate said, rolling her eyes, and looking at Paris, "I want to go with you," she said, taking her hands in his and acting like a cat,

"Paris, don't tell me you're about to fall for that?"

He looked at his sister with an imploring look and I thought I already knew his answer. It was the same look he gave me some nights ago when he left me to go be with Kate. Even after he had kissed b]me and made me wonder if there was still hope for us…

"I'm sorry, Christina, but there will be other parties," Paris said, reaching out to take her hand, but he shoved him off,

"other partied my arse. Simply accept the fact that you're easy to manipulate! I mean, I suppose I understand why it was so easy for that one to get under your skin." she said, gesturing at me.

I had plenty of choice words for her but decided against it. This was a battle that wasn't mine.

And besides, I was too happy to watch them fall apart this way.

"precisely why I don't want to take you in there. You're a thorn in my side," he said, wrapped an arm around Kate, and led her into the other area.

"Well," I said silently and looked to William who simply shrugged. The drama had fascinated him as well, I think.

Christina watched them leave with heat and anger in her eyes, and once they were out of her line of view she looked at me,

"What are you smiling at? That's the same way he abandoned you." she spat and I shrugged,

"You don't see me boiling about it."

“Haven’t the right wits about you, have you?” She sneered and William leaned closer, making her take a step back and I just smirked

She eyed me dirtily, before rolling her eyes ,

“Oh, forget you two!” She exclaimed and turned away, but I saw it, the sadness, the realization that this time around, she had lost and watched her as she left.

"I don't like that Paris bloke much,” William started when she was out of our line of view, “but his sister is way worse. I can't believe you had to put up with that all the times that you lived with them."

I leaned on his shoulder, suddenly grateful that he was there. His presence alone was reassuring.

"It's over now," I said and was thankful that I meant it.

He left after a while to go deal with some things inside, so I was on my own until the manager came back to get me,

"So sorry for the delay. I had to set up some things. Where is Alpha William?"

"he had to go deal with some things as well. "

"oh alright. Come now, the party is about to start." he said and helped to my feet, "you'll love the area, trust me." he said and led the way.

He was right though. The VIP area was extremely cozy and worth his hype, only a few people were in here, and they all seemed okay. I didn't interact though. I simply took the drink the manager offered and sat on a couch, listening to music.

It was there Lily found me, wearing a different dress than she had worn earlier,

"you changed clothes?"

"I still have one more to change before the night is over. Where's William? why are you here alone?"

"he had something to deal with I guess."

"something to deal with, my feet." she said, took my hand, and helped me to my feet.

"Where are we going?" I asked, letting her lead me with no direction,

"to go find William!"
